Some new pictures of the new MINI Crossman
Looks like its testing in the snow like a suv should be but it still have that whacky paintjob on it. I thought it was news none the less so here it is: http://www.miniforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=99
Crossovers rarely if ever look good in person.
It was a matter of time before German arrogance would start to chip away and ruin the MINI brand.

The design makes it nearly impossible to discern the true lines of the sheet metal; hiding it in plain sight -- pretty good for stimulating curiosity, too.
I just looked at the heavily camo/painted Crossman posted and aside from the 4 doors it has the rear club doors like the Clubman although it looks like 1 rear wiper instead of 2.Plus it says it will have AWD.I would imagine it will sell well for those looking for more room then what the Clubman offers right now.
I don't remember where I heard or read it before but IIRC the platform is going to be shared with the possible upcoming BMW X1 to obviously help cut manufacturing costs.
As far as the Crossman goes BMW is expanding the Mini brand but also looks like they could be diluting the brand by adding more models to the lineup too.
I will reserve judgement until I can see one in person.

For all of you who don't understand why it has a crazy paint job this is why. Car makers cover there new or upcoming cars while testing on public roads and such so the world can't see what it looks like until the auto maker whats you to.
Its therefore more special for them at the reveal and more special for us as well.

It looks like the Porche SUV and the Toureg. Its definitly not MINI! you cant put that brand name on it if it is bigger than other cars. Why do they have to do this crap? Like said above. If it aint broke, dont break it.

They btypically also put plastic or other things under the camo decalling to make it look like the car's bodylines are different... I'll reserve judgement. It's going to be heavily "styled", at least not plain vanilla!
I believe that I read that the rear is a real hatch back again instead of the Clubman club doors. Look carefully at the wiper - you wouldn't have a single wiper that could work across the seam of a club door. As far as how the car will look, the camo does keep one from getting a good view of the lines so I'll reserve judgment until final production shots are posted.

Seems painted on to me. Based on the side view, I don't see any protrusion of the handle like I see of the rear wiper....hmm pic doesn't link for me. So use the actual link.

Me too!!!
Clubman doesn't solve our dilemna - i.e. the plan to need two child seats - with suffiicient access to them.
OY VEY, I can already see I'm going to be rowing upstream against the elitists on this one.
Look, I'm not going to get into a philosophical debate regarding the "essence" of Mini - HOWEVER, taking a look against the possible competition for the past week or so, this SAV WOULD BE SMALLER THAN THE OTHER CROSSOVERS ON THE ROAD - early reports put it smaller than the Suzuki SX4 which is probably the closest relative in size.
That said, technically a "Mini" is whatever BMW decides to throw the badge on.
But as a early Gen I owner, I'm betting this holds true to the spirit and allows Jenn and I too keep a Mini in the garage when it otherwise might have been replaced by something we'd love less.

Why Oh Why do manufactures do this. One would think History meant something. Ruin a good thing and geuss what happens......nobody will buy it or much of anything else you have, see the current automotive crisis with American manufactures and there crap.If BMW is as intellegent as one would think, they ought to re-read some of the feedback they get on the likes of these ugly 4 door monsters that they dare to place a MINI badge on. Yechhhh........
