Yes, to listen to "enthusiasts" like yourself BMW, Mini, VW, Porsche, Harley, Moto Guzzi, Ducati etc should all be out of business because they've attempted to diversify their product/customer base.

Remember, there are those who hate the Gen 1s and Gen2s for not being "true" Minis too ... silly silly people.

Those rear barn doors look like part of the vinyl wrap.

The paint is simply to hide the fact they are testing it. Why drive it on or near public roads? Simple...with spy photographers from Car & Driver and the likes, the pictures are gonna get leaked anyway. It might be a little ugly, but so was the Moke. Oh, are we forgetting the MINIs heritage.

First, sorry to pick on this poster because there are many just like this.

Second, if we accepted this type of thinking we would not have the R50 and R53 to start with. Not to mention the R56 or Clubman.

I have seen this several times (Porsche, MINI, even 350Z) and the people who like the current or prior model complain about the next model. Face it folks, progress will continue. As they say, if you don't like it don't buy it.

Having said the above, I will not be buying the Crossman because I would rather spend my money on a 370Z.

The rear door is in fact a hatchback. Just look at the picture. The seam of the doors go up and around the spoiler. The handles in the picture would actually look three dimensional if they were real. And the single rear wiper would not make any sense if they were Clubman doors.

The seam is a tape line. It goes right through the wiper's mount and the line stops before it even gets to the bumper.

I'd certainly prefer a regular hatchback to the Clubman doors... at least I think so...

The Clubman's doors are just a homage to the travellers and vans back in the day.

Looks like the rocker pannels are not in place yet.
I look forward to seeing the final product.

Yeah, I too am not a big fan of this. I was expecting the Crossman to be a slightly raised up Clubman with AWD, but instead it looks hideous. It reminds me of the Porsche 911 and the Porsche Cayenne. The 911 is the MINI Cooper and the Cayenne is the Crossman.

I still lay claim to my window decal.."YOUR SUV IS A POS"

For BMW to have expanded the brand to encompass an SUV/Crossover design is beyond my comprehension..even with the camo it's still a big lunky SUV!!!

Kinda reminds me of this "MINI-like" 4 door Nissan that's all over the place in Taipei Taiwan with first gen like chrome bumper inserts.

Ooo, good eye, I hadn't noticed that - too distracted by the pretty colors I guess

Yes, much agreed. Most of these people in here bashing this thing can't understand that some vehicles have a history behind them, and with that history comes variations. It's not all about you people. A lot of you criticized the Clubman, but look how popular it's become. So, if you don't like this vehicle, don't buy it. No one's going to hold a gun to your head to buy it.

I actually think the Ford Flex looks much better than this aweful SUV junker from MINI.

SERIOUSLY?

vs

The Flex is a box, at least the Mini has the lines we've come to know and love.

Not to mention should be available with a decent powertrain including a 6-speed, and the options that we want, as oppossed to the "gotta have this to get that option package" of most other manufacturers.

I just don't see it from your perspective dude, but that's cool...

I think I'd rather be the driver than the passenger...

Well that's almost always true, just especially true in that case...
