Yea im a newby

Hi there all I am the proud owner of a brand new 2006 Mini S I havent picked the car up yet I have to wait until I go back home for winter break. I was wondering though I have heard alot about BMW parts on the Mini and heard rumors that Chrysler has some input on the 2006 just wondering if anyone could give me some feed back. Either way i cant wait to start motoring.

I don't know where you heard that but ok. You must post specs and pictures ASAP.

You can find lots of history both on this site and on MINI2.com. If you do some searches you will find that this subject has been thoroughly thrashed. Look for older files from 2001 - 2003 when this was explored in depth.

Ohh, by the way. Welcome to the world of MINIs.

Rule number 1 about men: There's only two men in the world you can trust.

1. Your Dad.

2. A MINI owner.

Okay, seriously... I think Chrysler had their hands (maybe a finger is more accurate) in the engines of the R56 MINIs. Somebody, please correct me if I'm wrong.

To answer your questions:

BMW has many parts in the MINI, including the transmission. The engine was a joint effort between Chrylser and BMW. There is a ton of info out there if you do a search.
