This is all so fascinating. We were told production week Sept. 11...called the automated thingy on ASK MINI and it says (as does the OL) that we went into production TODAY!!!!!! WOOHOO!! that is...if it's correct.

Yup, the "production week" date they give you refers to when your car is completed, so you all should be starting production this week!

Tomorrow I will find out if I get to drive her for good or if I have to store her til Feb. :(

update

OK, I'm about as confused as I have been for quite a while.... The OL says "scheduled for production" and has a VIN number proudly displayed, the automated Ask Mini says 9/12 completion date, the live person at Ask Mini says "don't hold your breath, and don't necessarily believe the VIN is accurate, and my MA says that the 12th should be a good date for completion, and the VIN shuold hold as well.

I think I need to go hide out in the desert for a few weeks away from computers and phones.:impatient

Basil - MCSC cool blue/blue top

Well, looks like I'm "stuck" in Hawaii till February!
I'm in the air force and trying to crosstrain into another career field and that
is what is keeping me here. Who knows, come the middle of October I may
have orders to do otherwise, we'll see.
Paperwork makes me
Having to sell my current MINI makes me
Not being able to drive my new one for possibly 4 months - impatient:impatient
I didn't order my new MINI for here because I could be leaving very soon, but
may be here awhile. I would hate to have it take longer to get it here and
then have to ship it to the mainland right away.
She'll be safe with my family back home in Iowa for the winter.
Now, whether I'll stay sane through the winter is another story... Good thing there's no snow here!

Bri - Thanks for serving our country. Bless your heart...your wait is MUCH more significant than our mere weeks! Hubby and I will be in Hawaii for Christmas...don't be concerned if 'strangers' wave at you from the rental (prolly not a mini).

El - Maybe Mini doesn't know what Mini's doing because of multiple personalities? Sounds like everyone has way different experiences with him or it...or maybe Mini's a her?

Hi all....
I was told yesterday that my production date is Sept 11th. This will be our third Mini (still have our other two). I'm trying to decide if I am going to teach our 16year old how to drive stick and let him have the '03 Mini or if we are just going to sell it. This will be the first MC that we ordered, as opposed to buying off the lot.

Minihed...

WOW. If you were my Dad I would mow the lawn for the rest of my life for a Mini. Glad you're here...clearly...with this being your THIRD you could teach us some things...

Do yours have names?

Finally, both the MA and the ask mini person say the same thing.

Week 37. Decent.

What day is that to start or end production?

Also, the ask mini guy thinks that week 37 is NOT the 11th of september but over a week after that.

who is correct? I am doubting the ask mini guy as he had to count weeks so apparently it wasnt obvious which it was.

He's a good kid. I might get him something a little bigger for his first car. But if your willing to mow my lawn for the rest of your life...hmmmm

I love cars, I've owned many. It's one of the few things I spend way too much money on. We've owned many BMWs, a Porsche, etc. I would rather have the Mini than any of those. I really liked my M3, rather have the mini. 911 C4, I'll take the Mini. There's just something about the roadster type engine noise/road feel, handling and the great gas mileage that just add up to a great auto. And there is absolutely nothing pretentious about the car.

Names? Our GMC Yukon has a name, Yukon Cornelius of course. My wife named our first Mini...Gary....as in Cooper (ugh). She hasn't named her convertible yet. I let the wife do all the naming.

We called in tonight and the mini has a VIN and is in production! They said it should be finished by the 10th! Seems like it was bumped up a bit. Could possibly be in the driveway by the end of the month of the stars align...

Aggie, thanks! If you see a girl in a light green 77 Chevy malibu, that's me! Feel free to wave and if I look confused, I will eventually remember!
I tried to call ASK-MINI after work today, but alas they were closed! I will call earlier tomorrow for an updated status.
