My car came with no running lights, but it is an option you can ask for. However, the double pull it does comes with - I didn't know that. I'd like to get it unprogrammed, because it's sort of annoying.

Ok i just got off the phone with my MA. He told me my car will be at the dealer sometime between the 9th-12th. He said once the car is received at the dealer it takes about 6 hours to prep before the buyer can pick it up.

HOLY GEEZ!!!!! i am excited!!!!

I told him i didnt want day-time running lights, and he said it was a good thing i had told him because he was gonna have them activated for insurance purposes. I guess it helps lower your monthly bill? AH...well...i think day-time running lights are ugly...

Daytime running lights are set to 'off' standard, so you have to request them to be turned on. The 2-pull thing is standard, and you can request to have it turned off - I did. The same with auto locking over 10 mph... I just find that annoying for some reason! I got an email a few weeks back that let me choose these options plus a few others.

The only additional ones I am going to get done when I pick it up are activating the fuel chime and deactivating the convenience opening!

Also while i was on the phone, my MA asked what interest rate i had gotten. I told him...

MA said "Im gonna try to beat that."

I said "wow really?"

MA said "oh hell yeah!"

then i laughed and said "awesome!!!"

OOoooooo, so you CAN deactivate the door-pull? I'm so excited! (that always bothered me.) And I had no idea about the fuel chime, either. What else is possible to activate/de-activate? Does anyone have a list?

The email I got from my dealership only had:
Radio presets?
Daytime running lights? yes/no
Door locking over 10 MPH?
Headlamps remain on for set period of time after you turn off the engine

Wow, it sounds like you have an awesome MA

I'm wondering if you can get these things activated/deactivated after you've already taken delivery. Some of Stella's settings are sort of bothersome, but I didn't know about a lot of them until afterwards...

OMG! My MA just literally called and said that delivery is estimated for the 9th or 10th, with pick-up around the 11th or 12th!!! He said it just arrived at the VDC (so my presumptions were correct!) and it will definately be ready to pick up on the 15th (which is the day I had planned on).

Only thing that kind of blows is my MA will be on vacation all next week, so I guess I won't be able to take delivery from him...

Yay!! I can't believe I'll have my new MINI next weekend!! Now I just have to go shop around for trade in on my car, lol... poor Honda, there's no mechanical problems, but it does need body work... at least it has low miles going for it... I wonder how much I'll get?

Oh, and attached is the options list... I saved it from a thread ages ago so I would have it to print out!

Picking Mini up on the 16th

Looks like I will be on the same truck as you, on its way to Houston. We must have been on the same ship. I will pick my Mini up on the 16th. It will be leaving South Carolina on the 8th and arriving in houston around the 10th or 11th.

Stan

Just a heads up to all you week 33ers. My car was on the Manon and my dealer is in Massachusetts, I'll be picking her up Friday (9/8) afternoon. I would imagine that if you're on the east coast and your MINI was on the Manon your dealers should start getting your cars pretty soon!

Congrats mini-mine! I can't wait to see those pics!

Have you tried selling your Honda on your own? I thought I was going to have a tough time selling my old car and actually almost had a bidding war for it. I just put up an ad on craigslist.org in my city, which is free. I guess you are short on time, though, so I'm not sure if you'll have time. But I literally sold my car within only a few days of posting the ad, and it's free (including photos), so you can't lose out on anything and might even get a little more for the Honda!

Well - here in good old Louisiana. I haven't heard from my salesman, even after leaving messages that I need the car ASAP because my old one was totalled. No contact since I ordered, no email about optional programming, no notification that it's at the VPC or in transit, nada. Tabasko got into Charleston on Tuesday and I was hoping to take delivery by the 11th at the latest.

Mini-mine. Since our cars are almost twins, I may try to hijack yours as it passes through on I-10.

I hope there's a owner satisfaction survey. Then it will be MY turn.

Tabasko, there is a survey that they give at the end of the experience, after you take delivery and all that good stuff. My MA specifically asked me to give her all 5s because anything less was "considered failing." So you'll definitely get your turn

That's great news about the soon-to-be deliveries!!

I have a question about bank loans. I've always financed my cars through the dealer, or just paid cash, but I think I may need to go through my bank this time. Do they usually make a check payable to YOU or is it to the dealer?

Ok, so despite all the crazy stuff with shipping and all, I must be REALLY lucky with the OL since it just updated today saying it is 'At Distribution Center' I haven't had a problem at all with it updated slowly really... it always seems to update within a few days of the automated message.

This is also the FIRST time the automated message is behind! LOL... At least it has now updated to say it's 'in transit' again...

When you click on the order info, it then says an estimated delivery date of September 9th!!! So MA was right on target... I can't belive it... that's only TWO days away!!!! I think I may scrap my plans to pick it up the 15th and try to pick it up maybe Sat. eve or Sunday or Monday eve

Tabasko

I ordered my new Mini from BH on 9-1-06. Could you tell me how long your Mini has been on order?

Siya told me that e should have ours in about 6 to 8 weeks.

It shows on the Owners lounge that it is on order.

Yes, my MA actually TOLD me to give her all 5s. Hehe.

Arthurbang, I'd help you out if I could, but I just went through MINI for my financing.

That's great news, mini-mine! Just a tad longer now - good luck with staying sane!!

My understanding is that the bank makes the check payable to the dealer in most cases. I'm sure there may be variations, but I think that is usually the case.

My loan check is a "blank check" that i am suppose to fill out for the remaining amount of money that is left over after my down payment. It has a set interest rate, and void date. You are basicaly using the check as if it were a personal check except its the banks money that it uses not your own. Then of course you got to pay it all back.

I wonder if my MA will tell me to give all 5's I'd give all 5's anyways, he seems nice.

I had no problem giving my MA all 5s. I was just nervous about the seat issue because it didn't seem like they thought it was a big deal. Now that I've been driving Stella for a week or so, I see that it's not. It's not pulling at all, and I think I can live with it. She said to call back in a week or so if it's gotten any worse, and ordered me a MINI sunshade

I was going to get a blank check too from Capital One, but my credit union has this deal right now where it's 5.99% APR for 60 mos., a $50 gas card, a drawing for a $500 gas card (which my parents actually won last time they had this deal in May and I told them about it when they got their MINI!), and no payments for 90 days if you wish...

I wish my credit union was that good. They're advertising rates as low as 6.5%, but that's only for 24 months (where the payments are outrageous). I did the online approval thing, and for the type of payment I want, and length, it actually comes to over 8%. I'm paying the majority of the car down in cash, and will probably finance the rest through MINI. But then when I sell my current car, I hope to be able to pay off most (if not all) of the loan amount.

I got an interest rate of 7.1% at the moment, but my dealer says they will try to beat it. I have a feeling they will because they want my money. Getting down into the 6's sure would make my payments nice and low with the amount of down payment im putting. Im gonna keep my fingers crossed and see what my dealer can do.

My interest rate is 9.45%!

However, I just landed my first real job and this is my first big purchase since graduating from college. I didn't need a co-signer for my loan (hooray!) and I was told that that was really great. I have excellent credit, and was told that the high interest rate was due to the fact that I was a first-time buyer.

Still...ouch.
