I want the cupholder too, but we shall see... I drink those big 'ole Jamba Juices alot

I'm still debating on when I'm going to pick it up... I just hope they call tomm. at least so I have the option to get it early in the week!

 

From what I understand/was told by my MA, the cupholders are easy to take off if you're willing to put in some elbow grease - I wasn't. You have to hit it with a blow dryer because the cupholder is screwed into the center console part, but it's also secured with super tacky tape/glue stuff. I thought it was much easier to just have the dealership remove it than try to do it myself and screw it up (odds are if there's a chance of screwing something up, I will )

 

The cupholder is held on by two #20 Torx screws, and some SUPER sticky double-sided tape. It took about three minutes to get all the sticky stuff off. I'd recommend letting the delaer do it if you don't want it.

Some others "saw" the tape off with floss. I just applied a steady pull on it till it let go.

Mini-mine - I hear it calling your name from the dealership. It wants to be picked up NOW and driven !

 

So i spoke with my MA this morning and he told me he is expecting my car to arrive today and would call me as soon as it does. Hopefully they can install what needs to be done and have it preped for my pick up this afternoon. I am only working half a day today, so i would LOVE to pick it up today. I hope it arrives early enough so everything can be done in time to pick it up, because tomorrow i have to work late! :impatient

I still haven't had 'official' word that mine is ready to pick up

It apparently arrived Saturday according to the receptionist, and my MA never called me back. He is on vacation this week, and I just got an email today saying he was checking emails and gave the name of the guy he forwarded all my stuff over to... He didn't mention anything about it being at the dealership or when it might be ready to pick up...

Oh well, I feel I have so many things to get done before I pick it up anyway, that it doesn't matter too much... At least I will pick it up Friday for sure if not earlier

I just hate the fact it is just sitting there, taunting me with it's prescence...

I forgot to mention that when I called the dealer on Friday, to make sure it was still arriving on the 13th, he went over the customizable feature list with me. It's so exciting to be this close. I should have my car in under 2 weeks.

 

Ok dissapointing yet happy news.

I got an E-mail from my MA late monday afternoon saying that the car will not arrive at the dealer until late Tuesday, and then i wont be able to pick it up until after 4pm on Wednesday. Blah! I was hoping i would have gotten it yesterday afternoon. Atleast i got my insurance taken care of, it raised $22 a month. Now i have a actul time frame and im not left guessing. (Although my MA said he expected the car to arrive yesterday )

Sooo...Wednesday is the big day for me, i told my MA i would be there right at 4:00pm. I will bring it home and take pics, and then i will be off motoring for the rest of the late afternoon.



Edit-1: I told my MA i wanted the giant Godzilla cup holder removed. He said that they are all installed at the VDC and he would have his guys take it off when it arrives. YAY!

Edit-2: I have never gotten a check list for the preferences of my car. Also when i asked my MA about reprograming the door pulls to a single pull to unlock/open, he told me that wasnt an option and that all BMW cars do this. WTF!?

 

Mini Mizer - it says right in the MINI manual that you can have those options programmed/unprogrammed. I'd do some more digging, obviously your MA is misguided.

Just talked to my MA (am picking up my baby tomorrow!!) and asked about the programming options. He said that it's possible to have the locking options changed (you can ask that the doors NOT lock when car is going over 10 MPH), but that when the engine is running and the doors are locked, the double-pull is a safety feature and not something that could be altered. Other things are programmable, but not the double-pull for doors that are locked while the engine is running. (In other words, if your doors are locked and the engine is running, that first door pull acts to replace the lock pull/button. Does that make sense?)

 

Yeah i understand, i respoke with my MA and he explained everything to me in detail. all is good now.

My neighbor is driving a new PW/B MC with checkerboard rearview mirrors. She's about 5' 0" and has been drving a Suburban. What a change! I haven't had a chance to talk with her yet to see what goodies she got in the car, and how she likes it, but the car is SHARP looking. We live three houses away from each other and we work in adjoining buildings 30 miles away from home. Probably should carpool, but it's just too much fun driving !

 

Well, I finally got hold of my MA today, and he said I can expect pickup either Thursday or Friday

At least I have a date now!

 

Well, today is the big day!

The day i pick up my mini! im sooooo excited, 4pm cant come soon enough! I just hope i dont get an E-mail or a call that pushes the pick-up back even further. I hope they got everything ordered right on the car. Im sure i'll be filling out the paper work as fast as i can so i can just get the keys and take off.

Ok im rambling, i just woke up and im not having full focused thoughts yet.

I'll be taking pics as soon as i get it, but i still do not know how to insert a picture into the post. anyone know how to do this

EDIT: to put a picture in your post, you have to copy/paste it from somewhere on the web (that is, you can't just copy/paste from your computer file, you have to upload it somewhere). You can either upload the photo to the NAM gallery or use a different service. I use Flickr for Stella's photo album just so that I can have them all in one easy-to-see and use place.

I think i will make a photobucket account. I think thats what alot of my friends use. It is currently a little gloomy outside, looks like it wants to rain, so we will see how the pictures turn out. Hopefully the overcast burns off during the middle of the day/early afternoon.

I also called m7 about my powder coated black grills, and they said they should arrive by the end of this week. woohoo!!! it will be my first mod to the MINI unless i can get it tinted before then.

oh...is it normal to smell something kinda like a burning smell when you first drive your car? i was wondering if it was the new exhaust breaking in or something?

Incredible lawn I must say!

My MA called today and he's here! My MINI is at the port and expected to arrive at the dealership in a few days!! Next week I'll get to pick him up! My MA went over all the MINI memory functions and other paperwork so the delivery process will be much quicker and easier.

I'm happy!

 

MiniChik, I bet we WERE on the same boat then. I didn't get any confirmation that it arrived at the port today, but today was the day that mine was supposed to be here.

 

I bet we were! Arthurbang have you checked the Owner's Lounge? For me it says my MINI is at the Distribution Center.
