I just found out from Ask MINI that my SB/S MCa will begin production on July 3. Anyone else in Week 27?

 

Just heard from ASK MINI that my little one's due for week 27 as well. Nice to hear, too, since when I called yesterday someone misread it as July 27th...had me sweating bullets so close to the plant shutdown.

Just ordered mine today! And, until Doogs set me straight, I was confused by the info my MA gave me. She showed me that my production week is 2006/07/27. To me that's a European date format for July 27. BUT, my MA said "You're in the first production week in July". Arrggh.

Anyway...I'm with you two now. Production Week 27, July 3!

My MA estimates a mid-August to mid-September delivery. How about you guys?

 

According to ASK-MINI, my MCS HB/B JCW is "tentatively" scheduled for week 27 production... I'm not quite sure what the 'tentative' part means... I sure hope it won't slip till after the factory shutdown. My MA and a customer rep at ASK-MINI told me "third or fourth week of August" as a likely pick-up time frame.

Anyway... after several months of lurking here, snickering to myself about how ridiculously obsessed all these mini-owners and owners-to-be were, now that I've ordered I find myself checking the OL hourly and reading all the mini websites even more compulsively than I do Mac rumor sites...

I'm in the Seattle area, but I just wasn't going to be able to take the 10-12 month lead time quoted by NW Mini (and I don't like the idea of being a guinea pig for the '07 aluminum engine - my last vehicle was a brand new model, and 8 recalls later I won't be doing that again...) - so like several others in the Seattle area I ordered from MINI of Murray near Salt Lake. I'm already working on mapping out my return trip - trying to mix highway and back-roads so I can do the varied-speed thing recommended for break-in.

Here's to hoping we're all motoring fools by Labor Day...

My MA's too smart to estimate anything...but yours sounds pretty close to what I'm guessing.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I'll have it by Labor Day, but not crossed too tight...

 

Just spoke to ASK MINI and I've gone from "tentatively" scheduled for prod. week 27 to CONFIRMED for week 27.

As I told the very helpful Marty on the other end of the phone, "something's changed!"

Anybody else have anything to report?

 

Well I called ASK MINI for the first time. I'm confirmed for Week 27. The rep confirmed that delivery for Arizona would be mid-August/mid-Sept. just as my MA told me.

She said production is only about 10 days and then about 3 weeks for shipping. I imagine that just gets it to the states.

The automated response said I had a confirmed WEEK but not a confirmed DATE. When I asked the rep, she said that they don't usually give a day but a week.

Sooo...that's it for me.

 

I'm tentative for Week 27 according to the last human I spoke to at Ask MINI. For the rest of you Week 27 people, what date did you place your order?

Hey everyone, I just found out from my MA that I'm tentatively scheduled for a Week 27 build as well. I hadn't expected to hear that quite this soon, as I just ordered on the 17th. The coolest thing, though, is that my birthday is that week as well, so I might be sharing my b-day with my MINI!

 

I wonder how the build date system works, because there seems to be a pretty large difference between the order dates. I ordered on June 3rd, Red Scooter ordered on the 8th and Turcicus ordered on the 17th, and yet all are in week 27. My MA called me on Friday and told me that my MINI was going into production soon, so I could no longer make changes....but the most recent human at ASK MINI still says week 27 and the OL shows nothing at all, not even my order details (which it did show before). This is worse than waiting for FedEx

Edit : one thing I just noticed is that there are no support groups for weeks 25 and 26....I wonder if they aren't building any for those 2 weeks??

The way I understand it, each dealer gets a certain allotment of vehicles each month. The spec them out themselves, and then, as customers place orders, they swap the specs. This is why the colors and options are all wacky at first, etc.

I'm guessing we're all week 27 because we're at the front of the line for our dealers' respective July allotments?

I'm curious about week 25/26 myself. I wonder if maybe they switch off between U.S.-spec and Euro-spec, etc? But that would explain why, even if I ordered in May, I got shunted to July...

 

There are week 25 and 26 US builds. In telling me that mine was a week 27, my MA also said they (they being his dealership) have 25s completed and ready for shipping, 26s starting up (which is technically a week early), and even some 27s getting pushed into the production pipeline (apparently mine could be one of them - he said it could go into production as early as late this week or the beginning of next). Point being, there are 25s and 26s.

But seeing as how it seems that a week can be assigned and then not necessarily stuck to, I'm taking my assigned week with a grain of salt.

I think all of this says that I will be calling ASK MINI during lunch today...

 

Maybe this is common knowledge among NAM members but, after calling ASK MINI today, the rep told me that the OL website is updated "about once per week".

The reason I called is I made a change to my order on 6/17 and my "Order Details" in the OL is BLANK.

He was able to tell me the change went through and my production week is still 27.

FYI.

 

This morning ASK-MINI now says my MCS is "In Production" with estimated completion 6/26. Guess I'll have to move to the week 26 support group. Sorry to gloat -- hope you all move up too!

Since last night I can't log into the Owner's Lounge - gives me an error and says try back later. Anyone else having that problem, or does your account get temporarily screwed up when it transitions to "Production"?

nevermind, the OL is working for me again, but still says "on order"...

 

OL isn't working for me either, but an ASK MINI human says I'm still tentatively scheduled for Week 27. I'm hoping that changes to a fixed date soon, I don't want to get bumped back :(

 

I just heard from my MA - production started today!! Called ASK-MINI (I'm havin' problems with the OL too) and they said it should be completed on or around July 3rd. So I'm guessing the "Production Week" refers to when your car is completed, not when production is started, is that correct?

And tethernaut, congrats on getting bumped up!!

 

OL is the next best thing to useless anyway...

No problem Doogs. It was a live person who told me that, so "Customer Relations." The OL still has me as being "On Order."

 

Just checked with ASK MINI. Spoke with Greg...he remembered my call from a few days ago confirming the addition of the Sport Package.

I am still Week 27. He said they update the OL only about once a week or so. My "details" section is blank ever since I added the Sport Pkg. Did that with my MA on 6/17. I agree with Doogs!z

My MA just emailed to tell me my MINI will start production "in the next couple of days". What that means is anyone's guess *L*

 

So I talked to a human at ASK-MINI, and he said my mini had entered production yesterday, and is expected to be finished July 1 (the robot guy said 6/26). I guess that's technically week 26 (26.85714...), but for all intensive purposes it's week 27. I guess I'll stick around here in the W27SG - gotta stick with my peeps, yes?
