Wow, we're up to 50 pages of posts now!! I can't believe how cool we are!

I wanted to give you guys an update on Nitro. I was able to get him in to a body shop for an estimate on Tuesday afternoon, and it looks like everything should be straight forward. He'll get a new bumper and trim, new aluminum bumper (what's found between the body and plastic bumper), new section of heat shield, and his exhaust pipes adjusted. He'll also probably end up with a new left rear wheelwell, as it currently makes contact with the tire and has holes worn in it from me driving him home from the accident. The hope is that they won't find any more damage when they take the bumper off.

The most heartbreaking thing about all of this is not being able to drive him for a while. I wasn't able to schedule to bring him in until the 21st, which means he's just sitting in the driveway, covered, not having any fun My wife and I were out running errands last night and we saw what looked like a brand new MINI out motoring around - it just made me feel worse.

The trick is... NO A/C! This last tank included a lot of driving in the mountains, where it was...get this...72 perfect degrees!

My tank before, when we had 102 degree temps and 70% humidity only went 360 miles and 14 gallons, which was 26 mpg. The OBC said anywhere from 25-28 mpg with the A/C on. The A/C really puts a hurtin' on that little 1.6L.

Turcicus -- Sorry to hear about Nitro having to wait. I can only imagine how much it frustrates you to not to be able to drive him... even more so him being BRAND NEW. Stupid clueless people shouldn't be allowed to drive!

2 long, agonizing weeks. I had the JCW brakes and the aero kit installed there. You'd think it'd be done by now.

I just gave my father a quick run around Boston in my MINI. He was grinning ear to ear and said it made his week with the run-about! I'm so glad Pi Rho is able to put smiles on everyone he greets! :D

Hi everyone. Finally the AB docked! Woohoo!

So, last night I managed to scuff up my driver's side front wheel. Anybody here thinking about selling their S-lites? I'm just looking for one.. and just the wheel since the tire is in good condition with only 600 miles on it. Let me know! I'll search the wheel marketplace forum but I wanted to check here first. Also, are there websites out there that sell S-lites? Thanks!

Sorry to hear that crishchun. But it seems that S-lites are a popular wheel to replace for lighter ones so you should not have much trouble finding a replacement. NAM sponsor Classic Auto Campus also has great deals on OEM parts.

And a question about the PW27 spreadsheet. You show the AB docked on August 9th. That is a day earlier than what Gromit801 discovered.

And I am thrilled to report I sold my Integra! Craigslist is awesome. I'm getting $1700 for a 16 year old car with 265K miles! A little sales tax negotiation helped me get a better price. So I'm getting the car smogged today and Wednesday I'm handing her over to her new owner. Will be a soccer mom for a couple days only (I hope since I do not know what the delivery date is) before I attain Motoring nirvana!

Congrats!

Wish I could say the same about my Mazda...so far I've had five bites. Two went by the wayside because the car didn't fit their specs, one because I quite literally could not understand a word he was saying.

The other two, I'm sorry, I just have to vent. Both contacted me pretty soon after I listed the Mazda up for sale. I responded to both, and received responses in turn. Both wanted to come check the Mazda out. Both wanted to swing by Thursday evening. And then...both flaked out. No calls, no e-mails, no "hey, sorry I didn't make it". Nothing. E-mails the next day asking if they're still interested have gone unanswered.

The lack of respect and consideration for other people's time (I cleared my schedule on Thursday so I could give test drives...) just hacks me off.

Sorry to hear you've been flaked on Doogs.

My Integra is real high mileage but in great shape and fortunately, the right buyer found me. All you can do is be patient and see what happens.

I was a little sad looking at her today, after all I've known her longer than my wife!

But then I thought, I'm gonna be a MINI owner real soon and I cannot imagine what that is gonna be like!

Doogs-
I've learned that when setting up an appointment to show stuff I've posted on Craigslist or showing a rental house, to always make a point of asking them "and you'll call me if you are not going to be able to make the appointment, right?" It doesn't always work, but it helps minimize the times I have to wait around for a flakehead that never shows up.

Hello all...

I'm back from up north. Was nice and COOL up there. Not here...arrrgh!

Looks like the AB MINIs are chillin' at PH, eh?

The OL says nada. Will check with my MA tomorrow to see if Wednesday delivery is a reality or no.

Just got home and wanted to say "hey".

Will catch up on posts later...

Different boot stripes from bonnet?

Wow...the group is quiet. I just got back. I need help.

Anyway, I am going to have Mike at Aestheticreations.net install boot stripes (when Jake finally arrives).

If I had this to do over again, I would have ordered no stripes and did something custom.

So, since I have the opportunity to do something different on the boot, should I?

Maybe white/black pin on the boot? Checkered? Ummm...???

So what say you fellow PW27SG'ers?

Yea? Nay?

Personally, I see boot stripes as a "convertible only" thing, but I did see a PS MINI with blue stripes on the boot with a red line around it and a star at the end of the them. But they had the same on the bonnet as well.

I didn't get any stripes, just for the fact I wanted to try to see about finding something custom down the road that is cool and not too common. I have a great desire to get the "U-stripe" on the bonnet for the S but in black to match the roof.

Pi Rho and I went to our second MINI outing this afternoon. We had a pretty good crowd and did a 1 1/2 hour drive (with midway stop) along some twisty town/local roads.

You can find all the pics for it Here!

A few of the group:

LOVE the U-stripe. Would look sweet in black! If I hadn't done black, the silver with the silver U would have been very unique. Alas...no mas silver!
