Glad some Auto Banner folks are finally seeing the light. You start the wave and we'll ride it!

.....grumble...grumble...grumble.....
On the upside, I did manage to get my Mosquito back today. It kind of feels like I'm shifting thru caramel right now, but I guess I'll used to it. Maybe it will loosen up as the new tranny gets broken in.

My MA e-mailed me today and says it looks like a August 19th pick-up, but he has always under promised / over-delivered so I'm hoping for earlier, like the 18th, as that is a good day for me and the wife to go down there without the kids.
Woo Hoo looks like a few of us will be getting their MINI's this weekend. I get Mrs. Peel on Saturday, 9:30 AM. I will be keeping my fingers, toes and maybe eyes crossed till I see her at MINI of Sterling.

The NEW MINI is up on the MINI International site. Only had time to watch part of it. Hmmmm....

For those of you who've already taken delivery...
Have you noticed your Minis, umm, "breaking in" during the break-in period?
I don't know if I'm getting used to her or if she is breaking in, but Evie really seems to be settling down and finding her groove. She's accelerating cleaner, breaking smoother, and in general scooting about with noticably more pizzaz than she exhibited a week and a half ago.
Also, I've discovered something crazy about my driving lights. They shake and vibrate like the dickens when the car is in park, but once I get moving and fire them up, no virbrations, just a glorious swath of light projecting forward. I can't explain it, so I'm chalking it up to some weird law of physics that only applies to British cars.

You have an automatic I assume, right? I don't notice and vibrations while in neutral with the e-brake on. I just notice them adjust and level when I first start up (I have auto-headlights). I could be the fact that you have an automatic and the car is somewhat "engaged", where since I'm in netural it isn't??
Not sure at all though... just an (un)educated guess!
Aren't they seriously like a street legal go-kart though?! I love it!
Happy Motoring!

Another something funny about the driving lights...when I flick them on in the safety of the garage, they seem "dimmer" than the xenons (which I've noticed stay on alongside the high beams). On the open road, though, they light up everything oh-so-nice. Very glad I got them, especially living out in the poorly illuminated hill country west of Austin.
Sorry to say that all driving lights shake. I have one that shakes more than the other...which I don't really get. I know some people that had some custom heavy-duty brackets made that helped a lot. I was thinking about putting some large rubber gromits under the base of mine to see if that would help.
My MA called out of the blue this morning and said my car is at CREVIER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Now I am excited!

:g rin:
In a case of divine timing, I am handing over (selling) my used car tonight!
Just gotta contact the wifey to see if we can pull this off tonight or if I have to wait one more agonizing day!

Cresseida & Gromit- congrats on getting through the VDC and to the dealer so quick.
Called my new MA earlier, and Nightcrawler is being released to the trucking company today. There's a slim chance it'll make it to SLC by Friday, but most likely not till Monday or tuesday. I'm actually in LA right now, at LAX for a flight back to SLC, so its agonizing to know its so close, yet so far! But I may be able to bribe my mother into staying a few days longer to watch my 3 little monsters, so the hoped-for motoring date with my wife might still happen. I went and got the certified check to pay for it just now, just in case it shows up this week.
Red & crusoe- hang in there, budds! We'll be motoring by next weekend for sure!

Anyway, the chance is "remote at best" for a delivery this weekend.
I'm hoping I'll have it for MTTS on Thursday. Otherwise, we'll be driving a wee Honda Civic.
Oh well...these things do happen.
Gromit and astrochex will be the Auto Banner leaders! Have fun motoring. Crusoe and I and ??? will be not too far behind!
Last night (night being highly subjective in Texas in August...I don't think it is getting truly dark until 9ish these days), I fired Evie up to go for a drive and happened to glance over at the odometer.
Pardon the quality, cameraphones can only do so much...

Glad you got THAT number off the odometer. I always said if I ever got that on my license plate, I'd send it back.
Edit: I guess it's triple digit night. Check out my # of posts!
