I'm a MINI Owner, I'm a MINI Owner, I'm a MINI Owner!!!!!!!!

Did I say I'm a MINI Owner?!

I'm real tentative right now with the breaking in and all, but how amazing already!

I'll fill in all the not too boring details tomorrow with pics.

Yeeeeeeehaaaaaaaawwwwwwwww!

Damn you guys are making nice sigs now...I need to get some good pictures of Basil this weekend. I have discovered the joys of Meguiars Quik Detailer, so Basil is staying shiny, unlike my last car. Takes me 10 minutes to QD the whole car...definitely worth the effort.

Oh, and congrats to Astrochex! Definitely looking forward to seeing pics of the AB with checkmate....

I should be getting rid of the on order badge tonight as my MA e-mailed me last night to say our MINI was in and just need to be cleaned and detailed. So we are going to try to get down there tonight after my wife gets off work and start motoring.

New sig looks nice, Doogs! On the same note as you, I hit 70,000 miles this morning on the way to work in Mosquito (38,000 since May 2005). I like to motor.

Got a call from my MA at Mini of Murray - he says my mini is on a truck that's currently in Las Vegas, and is scheduled to arrive mid-day tomorrow, so it "might" be possible for them to get it through the servicing & detailing Friday afternoon --- but their service department is closed over the weekend, so it's 'real tight', so..... aaaiiiiiigh! I'm ready to pop a gasket from the tension! I think I'm just going to bail out of my conference in Logan early and drive down to MoM, and see if I can grease the skids with the mechanics with an extra c-note or case of beer or whatever it takes!

EDIT: unintentional prurient metaphor revised...

You mean "pop a rivet" per chance? What you said means something else entirely!

Need input on stripes/graphics

Ok, while I'm waiting for Jake I have a new stripe graphic idea.

Would like input from, now, a bunch of MINI owners!!!

I'm thinking of a Black Shelby Stripe for the bonnet:

Production Week 27 (July 3, 2006) Support Group-shelby-bonnet-sm.jpg

And this checkered "stripe":

Production Week 27 (July 3, 2006) Support Group-check-side-red-pin.jpg

For this I would use the cut-out or die-cut black (so the Chili Red will show through) and probably no pin stripe.

What do guys think?

Oh, and no boot stripe. I think this would be enough.

The only other thought I had was to use a silver outline on the Black Shelby. Oooo...just thought of something else. What about chrome? Mike at Aestheticreations can do anything you want I think.

She hasn't been cleaned since yesterday so I did not want to take a picture on a bad hair day.

Saturday is my goal when I can do a leisurely wash and find a good spot for pics. What a blast the car is even during break-in.

Its truly worth the wait folks.

That looks pretty sweet - would look great in chrome if they can do that.

If I hadn't gone with the black stripes/black roof look, I was thinking about getting white stripes with a black tire tread pattern on the bonnet and roof, just to get laughs.

Thanks Drew! I'm of the opinion that its the best ever!

The Astro Black is metallic that seems to have some blue in it. Oh so cool.

Yeah, as of 9pm last night I am officially motoring, well actually my wife is. I might be able to pry the car key out of her hand sometime in the next few days but as of present I have not been allowed near the car except to do the delivery inspection.

I have to say the pick up went very smoothly, no hiccups at all and our MA threw in some floor mats without any asking at all, they were already in there when we showed up. He even left the front plate holder off the bumper so that I could put it on if I wanted to or not.

Now if I could just get my hands on the keys.

Well now, she should share! Once you get those keys from her icy grip... ...how about some pics?

Can't remember if you have a name for the new tyke?

Alright. I love, love, love the black shelby stripes. I say go for it!

Not a fan of the checkered stripe on the side. A bit too much flair for my taste.

Also, I say stick with black. Stripes should match the roof (the exception being a body-color roof).

My wife snatches away the keys at every possible opportunity.

Oh well, if we're both in the car, its better that she drive, anyway. As a passenger, she clamps down on the fun faster than DSC.

Completely off-topic, but I had to share this picture of a giant panda eating a birthday cake.

Thanks for the input. I think I'd like to go to Mike's and see some product. Have been wondering what the Carbon Fiber (a la JCW) would look like.

Here's one other idea I'm liking (and am tending to agree with you about the check side).

This is a Racing Stripe kit. I am thinking the boot and bonnet only. The stripe is basically the Viper but I don't want it to go off the bonnet and down the front to the bumper (can't really anyway have a chrome front grille).

Production Week 27 (July 3, 2006) Support Group-racingstripe.jpg

So I'm thinking if I do this on the side:

Production Week 27 (July 3, 2006) Support Group-side-installed.jpg

If I do this side, I would do just the bonnet in the racing stripe/Viper. Like this but just to the edge of the bonnet. Here's a FULL Viper:

Production Week 27 (July 3, 2006) Support Group-blackstripesonsilver2.jpg

Too much time on my hands maybe? Ah well, NEED something to occupy me while I wait for Jake.

Btw, if I do the Angle Stripes, thinking about "JAKE" on for the lettering? Whadaya think?

Cute. Did you follow the birth of Tai Shon, the baby at the National Zoo in D.C. It was (is) amazing. I spent many an hour watching him grow from a wee tiny furless rat-looking thingy into a cute baby panda!
