Yep, like Nitro's...only black. Glad to hear all of Nitro's boo-boos are fixed!

Some Things Never Change

This is too funny!

I had thought about this a while after ordering my MINI and today I found pics!

This is the Honda Civic (1979/80?) I drove from Idaho to Arizona in 1984 to attend ASU.

Hmmm...a wee tiny red car, little boot space, with black bonnet stripes.

Oh and check out the interior!

What I did, as you all know, is worked on my "boot stripes" project. It occupied my time and was still able to stay in relatively good space.

So Crusoe, what mods, accessories, etc. are you planning for Pepe?
My mods are going to be a wait a see beside putting in an ipod adapter. I need to test the grip of the 15x5s but will likely put on Konig Rewinds, lowering springs and different brake pads. I have access to a full service garage with lifts, snapon tools, etc. so excluding balancing it'll all be DIY.
I think I'll put together my MINI model I bought a while back to pass the time.

Just gave Pi Rho his second official bath. Used the Mr. Clean AutoDry... it works awesome!! The de-ionized water spray is so cool, it really does dry with no water spots!!

Katherine, I ordered from Checkered Flag and would recommend them to everybody. They're great. I even called my MA for some advice after Nitro's accident. Where did you order from?

Thanks for the support, everybody! I mean after all, we are the best support group on NAM, right? Nitro's repairs came out extremely well. You can't tell that anything happened, which is what I was hoping would be the result. This is the third body shop I've had a car at in the last 9 months, and the first two were horrible, so I was really nervous headed there today. But when I saw the work they had done, I was pleasantly surprised. They even saved the old bumper for me (I had requested they cut a piece off for something we do at work, but they just let me take the whole thing). Hopefully I'll never ever have to go back, but if something else were to happen, at least I know they do good work. The best part had to be the ride home, not only because I knew Nitro was back to 100%, but also because I saw two other MINIs who gave me big waves! And I of course got out and did some motoring tonight. To quote Monk (which is really a good show - for those of you who don't watch it, give it a shot): I'm back, baby!!

EDIT: Oh yeah, and the shop also gave Nitro a bath, and did a great job doing it. I only mention that because of Sheenabea's post. The Mr. Clean Auto-Dry is what I use to wash our cars, but I hadn't had a chance to officially use it to wash Nitro. It's a great system.

Hey Turcicus, I ordered from Crown MINI. They've been good so far, I just don't really have anything to compare them to. I've sort of badgered them with questions, and they've been very patient, but I get the feeling that they're very busy and are probably processing a bunch of orders.

The final hours!

Well kids,

In two hours, my MA is picking me up (yep, at 7:30 AM on his day off) for an 8 AM delivery!

I actually slept well last night. Even with a wee bit of not-so-good news about Jake.

He has a boo-boo.

The Sales Manager, my former MA, called last night about 5 (my MA was off yesterday). She left a message to call her at the dealership or on her cell after hours. GULP! I just knew something was wrong but I thought it was with the delivery.

Long story, short - There's a small scratch/dent on the boot hatch! She discovered it as they wheeled Jake into the showroom last night. She also knew I had plans for the weekend including MTTS.

So, this is the plan:

They could "pull out" the dent but she said "no touch-up paint...it will look awful"!

They need Jake for 2-3 days to completely repaint the boot hatch. I'll get a loaner car (not a MINI).

And she threw in a sun shade as a thank you for being...what did she say..."understanding and gracious". Hmmm...that's COOL! (no pun)

She said she did not know when the damage occurred (during shipment or at the dealer) BUT I do! When I took the "nursery" pics, I can assure you there were no dents/scratches. I would have freaked.

But, the best news is that I will have Jake for our 4-day trip for MTTS and the twisty roads on the way to Payson!

Having the clear bra installed right after I pick him up and then I have the whole day to MOTOR and PLAY. WAAAAAA-HOOOOOO!!!!

Awesome Clayton! Man, almost everyone is motoring now, how nice.

I started a trend at work... Out of 6 of us in the office, 3 have bought brand new cars in the last month. Me with the MINI, then the GM with a Hybrid Camry, now the Plant Manager with a 350z GT 'Vert. I'm loving the 350, I considered those but there wasn't anything practical about it for me.

I went into Crown twice while I was looking at options and stuff, and I was not treated very well. I won't name names, but it was ridiculous (if you come out to any River City MINIs events, I'll fill you in). Someone here on NAM recommended Checkered Flag, and my MA specifically (I will name him - Jason Reidy, the best MA ever), and after talking with them, I determined the 2 hour drive was well worth it.

Every time I've gone in they've been very busy. But it probably helped in my situation that two years ago I went to test drive (when I knew I just had to have a MINI) and established a relationship with the sales manager - so when I went back to buy, I already knew someone there (I don't know if she remembered me or not, but she was good at pretending she did!).

I'd love to come out to some River City MINIs stuff - once I have my MINI, of course (MA said by Sept. 4th!). I was at the Mechanicsville Wal-Mart after I had just ordered my MINI and saw a CR MCS with a rivercityminis.org sticker on the back - I was so excited to discover that there was a local MINI club!

A sunshade? How about they make it up to you by giving you a Z4 Coupe as a loaner car?

I like it! Yeah baby!

It better not be a dork-mobile. But then again, would BMW/MINI give one a dork-mobile when THEY messed up?

My MA called me last night to tell me the clear bra was on, but not the driving lights yet. The new tech was having difficulty, so he stopped him as to not screw the car up. Yay, MA! My panels were being pulled off today and sent out for paint.

Congrats, Clayton! Jake is a fine lookin' lad! And I hope you two (3?) have a great time this weekend.

BTW - I hit the 1250 mile mark at 4:20 AM this morning (taking my parents to the airport). This morning I worked up a good bit of stress trying to diffuse a stupid inter-employee spat, so just now I took Nightcrawler out for a little high-octane spin. Amazing how that SC whine will soothe the soul...

Doncha just luuuuv those JCW mats?

Stopped by my dealership today. Mary was gone. Don't fret...she was loaded up onto a flat bed and taken off to the leather people. I got to talking to my MA and a tech friend of mine about the tint being finished yesterday. My MA said that he had to redo the back window because of a hair getting caught in there. My friend said he was talking to the tint guy afterwards and said, "Good thing you did...do you know who's MINI this is?" I guess I'm kind of infamous. My MA calls me a "special customer." Yeah, more like "special needs!" They often joke that I live there.

Thanks to all for welcoming Jake! I'm still sort of spinning with it all. Because of his boo-boo, the delivery took 3.5 hours. :impatient

Got there at 8 AM and wasn't motoring until 11:30. The good news is they fixed the dent (never saw it and can't even tell where it was) and the scratch looks like it could be buffed out. Regardless, they'll be repainting the boot hatch.

I have a little problem I could use input on (per Turcicus' post of long ago). Sometime today, the wiper fluid dripped out a bit on the bonnet stripe on the driver's side. It left the equivalent of a bad water mark (but I know it's chemical).

I got some of it out with some wash and detailing spray but it's still there.
Stands out like sore thumb on a new car.

HELP!

Other than that, Jake is the best. I'm headed out now for dinner, a couple of errands and then some Xenon tests!

Hey Doogs, Jake got his sunglasses already. Rather than a dark tint (a la sunglasses) this tint (forgot the name) is more like a UV filter. It has a certain percent blockage of heat/rays so you get light but not the heat and damaging rays.

Krikey...I'm rambling.

Anyway, off to motor a bit. Here's to the remainder of PW27SG getting their MINIs soon. Only a couple left!

Thanks again for the good wishes!

Clayton and JAKE
