Production Week 27 (July 3, 2006) Support Group
Big time congrats, Clayton!!! Today has been a loooong time coming for you! Most of us have followed your process from order to today, and I'm sure I speak for all of us when I say we're happy for you!
Welcome to the wonderful world of motoring!!
As for your problem with the windshield wiper fluid, here's my advice - get it outta there as soon as possible!!! I had my wife sit in the car and run the sprayers while I held a hose to the car. I then filled up the reservoirs with straight water and haven't had the problem since. And I'm sorry to say, you might have to have the dealership replace the bonnet stripe when they repaint your boot hatch
. Sucks, I know, but I don't think the marks can be removed from the vinyl of the stripes like they can from the car's clear coat. Bring it to your dealer's attention and see what they'll do for ya.

Great choice.
That's the approach I'm gonna take as well.
Hey all,
I've been away for a bit and was really pleased to see so many great new arrivals when I checked back in on this thread. Everyone's rides are looking sweet!
All my travels recently have meant rather little time behind the wheel
, but I'm hoping to recitify that during MTTS. Is anyone else doing legs 13 & 14 (Charlottesville <- DC -> Jersey City)?

Evie's tint has the UV-blocking properties as well. I went ahead and got the windows tinted as far as I could go, too. I've got great eyesight, but my eyes are also pretty light sensitive. I'm the guy who's still wearing sunglasses when its overcast
, and I've found tinted windows do a world of good cutting back on headlight glare in the side mirrors.

Thinking back it was you and Doogs I first got to know as some of the earliest members of PW27SG. This has been such an interesting journey, ride, you name it. Never thought "a car" could create such "good stuff". Awwww...shucks.
Thanks for the advice on the fluid thing. Wish I could have nipped it in the bud but I guess things happen, eh?
Regardless, on to some excellent motoring, twisty roads and some more MINI comrades. I cannot wait!
Clayton
PS Even though it's just the first day, I've walked out of the house, the store, etc. and Jake has caught me by surprise. I can't help but smile!

All I know is when I compared the different tints (under a halogen bulb display thing at the dealership) it was amazing how much HEAT was reduced. And that is a VERY good thing in AZ.
I just picked up Sir Geoffrey tonight. I am totally in love with this car! The 30+ mile ride home was awesome and I can't wait until he's properly broken in so that I can have even more fun out on the road with him.
... now my next mission is to find a cute guy that's worthy of riding shotgun.
Sir Geoffrey's specs:
- British Racing Green/White Cooper
- CVT transmission
- black leatherette
- anthracite dash
- chrono pack + onboard computer
- front/rear fogs
- auxiliary audio input (im planning on attempting the install myself.. is it difficult?)
- rubber mats (they didn't have the regular ones, so I was given the "S" ones.. dunno how I feel about that.)
- chrome exhaust tip
I kindda regret not getting the sunroof, but since I'm pretty small (I'm around 5'2, 130lbs.) I don't feel claustrophobic at all. Let's hope it stays that way. heh.
Oh and I managed to score a free keychain + cupholder accessory.

No, the AUX install is very easy. The only difficult part is pulling off the drivers side knee panel, it's really stuck in there but don't be afraid and give it a good pull...it'll pop right out. Once that's out you just reach around the back of the radio and plug in the AUX adapter, then fish the wire wherever you want the input to be. I ran mine down under the center console and came out through one of the little vents down there. If you want to do that you'll need to remove the torx screw that holds the trim piece in place, but you don't need to remove the trim just remove the screw, pop the 2 tabs and bend it down so you can get your hand in and run the wire. I know this sounds complicated, but it really isn't and if I can do it anyone can

Looks great Greg
I'm coming up on 1 month since delivery, and I have about 1900 miles so far. No problems except for a small amount of cosmoline drip from the rear wiper, but luckily for me it came off with some quick detailer. I noticed a little more this morning but didn't have any QD with me, so will have to take care of it tonight.

Yeah, kinda crazy, I am at 3 1/2 weeks with BLISS.
Nice looking car Greg! I guess I've spent the most time behind the wheel, 4200 miles so far. I'm hoping to get a company car soon though and I won't have to run through my warranty so soon. I've loved Motoring so far though!

Just ordered my first accessory!
Next week the wacky folks at DHL should be delivering a nice, protective cargo/dog liner so the pups can ride in style and Evie can be protected from claw marks and the worst of the drool!

Got a nice package from MINI today
It was the "welcome to the neighborhood" kit, containing a driving journal, pen, flash cards, unofficial manual etc. Very nice touch and well put together...anyone else got theirs? I haven't received the "decoder" kit, hopefully I will before they start the next phase of that advertising....

And Firecracker is turning out to be more difficult to wash than I thought. Lotsa nooks and crannies and that wing has some tight spots. Black metallic makes my lack of skill more apparent.
Such is the cross of a new MINI owner.
Pi Rho just passed 2,300 miles this evening! He has already had his second bath (in need of a third too!) I took some pretty fun shots the other day (after washing). You can check them out in my sig pic link. Just go to 2006->Form and it is the last 2 pages
Just checking in to say, "HI!!!" Buddha is now over 2,000 miles.
I found some lovely leather that goes with the interior really nicely, so I made a new leather shift boot for him and some leather hand grips for the door grab handles. Next is an e-brake boot in leather, going to try a handgrip, too and I think also the downtubes will get the leather treatment. Who knows where it will stop! Buddha thinks he looks sexy in leather. I haven't the heart to tell him that short pudgy guys aren't usually thought of as sexy.
I haven't received any goodies in the mail from MINI though.

Of course, the two weeks waiting to get into the body shop didn't help things.
Friday I undertook my first major DIY. The speaker in my passenger door developed the good ole H/K rattle, so I removed the door panel and put some adhesive-backed felt in the necessary spots. Rattle gone!! It was a little freaky removing parts myself like that, but now that I've done it once, I have a little more confidence.
