Thanks Krenzkes. We actually have lot's of twisties around DC in Maryland and Virginia. Did you find out if your car is for sure going to Charleston? If so I found this link to the Charleston port schedule (http://www.port-of-charleston.com/Vessel_schedule.asp)

 

Cargo tracking for my VIN number shows Charleston as the point of destination. I guess I'll just have to wait and see but thanks for the info on that port I'll keep checking on the progress and see when it gets in there.

 

Guys am I doing something wrong when I check my VIN?

Then I enter my VIN, and search, and it finds nothing. Are you guys using another method?

The Resolve has already left Southhampton and I am nervous that my car didn't make it on this ship. If it didn't I have a lot longer to wait than I was hoping for. :-(

Looks like you are taking the correct steps.

My question is - are you sure your MINI will be unloaded at Charleston? I thought BMW/MINI have processing/import centers only in New York and California (Port Hueneme)?

Anyone know about this?

EDIT: I am wrong! This is from a post about Port Hueneme from the NAM guru, Dave:

...the BMW Vehicle Distribution at Port Hueneme in Oxnard, California (approximately one hour West of L.A., just off the Pacific Coast Highway). There are similar BMW facilities in New Jersey and South Carolina that serve the East Coast.

One more thing that MIGHT help. I heard from my MA and AM that your MINI usually ships about a week after it gets to dock. Mine was at the dock on 7/7. The Madame Butterfly left on 7/13 and I did NOT make it. :(

But I'm EXPECTING (could be dangerous) to be on the Medea which leaves Southampton on 7/17. That pretty much fits the one week...BUSINESS days...for the "usual" wait.

Thanks for the reply. I am a little dissapointed that I missed this one, for a number of reasons though. I was hoping to get my car by August 4th so that I could drive to Florida for a friends wedding... doesn't look like that will be happening now though. I guess it is ok because it gives me more time to sell the 2 cars I have now, but this wait is killing me. I also have some mods on the way and now I might not have my car in time for a "Mod Party" planned by the Tarheel Minis... Oh well, I know it will be worth the wait once it does arrive...

I didn't have much planned but I was pretty bummed when I didn't get on the Madame Butterfly. But it will be SWEET when we all have our MINIs!!

I have a trip planned (up north to Payson, AZ) for the weekend of August 26. And based on being on the Medea and allowing 2 weeks after the arrival at Port Hueneme (my MA said it's about a week to 10 days from port to delivery in this part of the US but to allow 2 weeks)...whew!...anyway...that would/could/SHOULD mean a delivery window of August 21 - 24. I'm leaving either the morning or afternoon of August 25th.

So, that's A LOT of "ifs". But, I'm going to go with it! I am going to be MOTORING to Payson. Right? RIGHT!

Beauregard, I guess the Patriot popping up in port yesterday was a fluke (or a different ship named Patriot). Oh well. It docks in 3 hours!!

EDIT: Actually, after just now checking, it looks like it's already docked!!!!!!!

 

Yes, it was strange. It was also not in a place anywhere near Jersey. The blip was closer to Manhattan which really didn't make any sense. The triangle went away and then the name disappeared off the list a few minutes later. Just a fluke to keep it interesting.

Got some info on my car yesterday, It hit the dock on the 27th and was loaded and hit the high seas, on the 29th. I guess it just depends on how much cargo is being moved around. BUT, I found out that my car is on another carrier, I could not get a name or any other info, her said that for west coast shipping they try to get the cars out in a orderly fashion, and that is way for that other carrier. He said to would be in LA on the 21st, and to the dealer a week to ten days after that, then tey would have it for a week to put the union jack decal on it. then I get my Baby. So that puts me into the fist weekend in August. AAAARRRGGG!!! I should have not poked aroud to find out about my car.

Just checking in from my road trip...I've been sans internet for the past two days...finally log on today...and my VIN still isn't registering anything in the WW system.

 

Doogs!! Glad you could check in. I hope your trip is going well. Don't be disheartened on your MINI not being in the WW system - I'm willing to bet it's on another line.

Speaking of WW, the site is back up. My MINI isn't listed as being discharged yet, however. But from what I could tell, it was one of the first loaded, so it will be one of the last unloaded.

The Medea will arrive at Southampton at 10:30 PDT. I would think they would have SOME kind of tentative "boarding" list by now but nada so far.

I am putting all my energy into us ALL being on the Medea...the rest of us that is!

Does anybody have a link to the website of the VDC in NY/NJ? I remember checking that site out a while ago, but now I can't find the link. I wanted to check on it's location, as the Patriot has now moved to another port in the same general area (it's schedule on the WW site has it as being at two different NY-area ports - one yesterday and one today - and it's not on the schedule at www.firstnynj.com anymore).

EDIT: OK, I still haven't found the site, but was able to get some info. by poking around the firsynyj website. It appears as though the Patriot is at The Port Newark/Elizabeth-Port Authority Marine Terminal complex right now, and was at the PA Auto Marine Terminal yesterday (see the map here - http://www.panynj.gov/DoingBusinessW...onal_port.html). But I don't know at which location MINIs are unloaded, as both have automobile processing centers! Beauregard, do you know? Anybody? --- Hmmm, it appears I might need to wake up a little more this morning. According to the above link, the BMW of America's prep center is at the PA Auto Marine Terminal. So hopefully those MINIs on the Patriot were unloaded yesterday!!!
