My MA just called me a few minutes ago and said it usually takes them three days to get the car to the dealer (MINI of Sterling) after it is offloaded and usually one day to turn it around at the dealership (depending on accessories). He didn't want to be so presumptious as to set up a pick up date yet. Three days sounds might optimistic to me but we shall see.
I'm on it!

I emailed my MA today and this was his reply:

Your car is estimated to be at the port on the 20th of July, until it actually docs there is no definite answer for a delivery date. We usually figure you will take delivery of your vehicle in about a week after the car docks at the port. Any other questions please feel free to contact me. I will give you a call when I know more information later in the week.
I'm hoping by next weekend.

The 7/16 entry was in red, meaning it had already left. EDIT: And for some reason, the New York part of it's voyage is back to one entry!! I promise you, it was two this morning!! Man, you guys are going to think I'm crazy...

Duh What can I say, it's Monday
Turcicus-You know what. It's all a mute point now, isn't it. Our MINIs are at the VPC. Hoorah!!!!!

Anyway, I got my Voyage # and my Bill of Lading...starting with NYK. Right when she said that I knew.

So, he left yesterday and will arrive at Port Hueneme on 8/10 (the same date...I think) as if he was on the Madame Butterfly.

So, I can finally BREATHE.

JAKE is on his way across the pond! YES! YES! YES!

astrochex and Red Scooter: it looks like you guys are on the same NYK vessel. But, according to the spreadsheet, there is a discrepancy in the arrival date--8/9 vs. 8/10. Do you have any idea which is it? I'm updating..

So it would appear that my MA under promised me and might even over deliver? He gave me an ETA for pick up as the 2nd week in August. If the car hits Sterling of Mini by Friday, I might get it first part of next week.

WOOT!

Contratulations Scooter. You've sure been sweating bullets over this, but remember the words of that Rock and Roll hall of famer, Tom Petty,
"You take it on faith,
you take it to the heart
The waiting is the hard.....est part"

My MA was reading from her terminal. She said "scheduled arrival". My guess is the me and astrochex WILL be the same date...maybe the 9th...maybe the 10th. When I get a chance (on a job right now) I'll see if I can find out anything by calling NYK.

Thanks Christian!!!

Creseida, let's hope. My MA there is Jeff and I asked if a Saturday pickup was possible. He just said it was too early to tell. I'll probably be speaking to him tomorrow about some other things. It is definitely going to be earlier than promised because I was told 8 weeks when I ordered. I'm sure they want to give you the worst case scenario when ordering.

My MA was estimating the arrival date. I am hoping for a miraculously speedy trip. The Panama Canal site lists July 27 for passage thru the locks.

WHAT?!?! I was told 5 weeks and this Saturday will be exactly 5 weeks! My MA's a liar! I'm going to throw a fit!

Hehe, just kidding.

P.S. I'm glad there are these individual support groups to help us pass the time.

Red Scooter: Finally!!!! Too bad ya can't track it, but at least now you know! And knowing is half the battle

Beauregard and creseida: Wow, a three day turnaround?? Awesome! You'll be the first two Week 27er's motoring - I'd bet money. I talked to my MA a little while ago, and he said it usually takes 5-7 days for them to get theirs (in VA Beach). So if all goes well, I'll be picking mine up the end of next week. I'm already planning on taking a day off from work to do it, too.

NYK is no WW

Krikey. After about 8 phone calls to NYK, I got someone who is trying to figure this out.

I had one rep tell me it was likely on the Copenhagen Express bound for Seattle. NOT!

The other lady, Maria, is going to call me back because my Bill of Lading number indicates it arrived TODAY in Port Hueneme.

It's the Concorde of cargo ships or something from Star Trek!

Anyway, I told Maria about the departure date and the name of the ship - the Auto Banner - and she said if that is the case it is scheduled to arrive at PH on 8/9. She IS, however, going to call me back.

Geez...I think following the WW model of online tracking would be MUCH better.

But I cannot and will not complain because my MINI is on its way!!!

So that's addresses astrochex and me but what about motorbruce, Doogs and tethernaut? Or am I just behind on the string?

Thanks for all the Wah-hoos, Yays and support from everyone! I really know now why there IS a Support Group.

I still think 3 days is very optimistic but even if it's 5 or 7 days it still won't be long. One thing's for sure, the support from this group has been invaluable.

Well, when I called Ask Mini, the person I spoke to said it was very likely the car would be at the dealer by the end of the week, since once it leaves the distribution center, it generally takes a day to get to Sterling. She of course recommended calling the dealer for any further updates at this point.

Beau...Jeff is also my MA. When I placed my order on the 6th of June, he said most likely 8-9 weeks, putting it around the week of August 7. I asked if that was realistic, or if that was wishful thinking and it would take longer. I told him I wasn't concerned with the wait per se, but I didn't want to be told 5 weeks (like the guy in Richmond told me) and have it be longer. He said the times have been running about 8 weeks. It looks like it will be less than 6!!! So, while Jeff took the conservative approach of "under promise, over deliver" it would appear that the guy in Richmond was not far off at all.

Whadaya think?

One is a bit more subtle and looks a bit more authentic.

Nice. I'm too pooped to figure it out. What is RL 414 X?

Yes, there is an NYK site. But, you cannot track online there unless you are a shipper!

Btw, the plates I posted are $40.

EDIT: framptons.com and pl8ts.com are dead links. ???

Very cool. I'm sure she appreciates that. I'll check out the sites. Thanks for the corrections on the URLs.

Guys--I updated the spreadsheet to include 3 new columns and to make the rows sortable (only ascending, click column header). Had to abbreviate some of the headers because the table was getting way too wide for a typical computer monitor.
