Hmm. I don't see it listed in the DSR. I think it's a day late because I checked the vessel schedule on http://www.firstnynj.com and it's showing to arrive in NY on 7/21 instead of 7/20, as estimated. Maybe that's why I couldn't see the Trinidad within proximity to Halifax on the http://www.aislive.com.

Rough seas?

Bummer. Welcome to my world. It sucks not being able to track ANYTHING. I was thinking about your group spreadsheet. I likely won't have many of the dates you'll be able to get via WW, AIS, etc.

Can't find a thing on the Internet. [phone call]

It was NYK. I gave a rep my Bill of Lading and she just called about tracking it. Unfortunately...or maybe not...that BL shows 240 units on it. Hmmm...240 MINIs??? :impatient Talk about a kid in a candy store!

Anyway, Maria is going to email somebody-or-other and find out if my VIN is in that "shipment". She still says I was on another ship that arrived at PH the day after it left Southampton!

I hope your ships come in for sure, Mine looks like the first out of the UK, so the first to arrive in the US.

What about a VOTE for the official badge?

Letters all together or with a space?

Thoughts? Votes?
Letters all together. Thanks a bunch for doing this.

For the database...

Christian...and all...

You might be able to tell I've named my MINI: JAKE!

I suppose it could change after he is delivered but I don't think so!

Cool name! I still haven't thought of a name for mine yet. Suggestions are welcomed.

Same here

And Scooter, my vote is for the all-letters-together version of the plate as well. I'm going to add it to my signature when I get home from work

Names

crishchun and Turcicus - Glad you like the name. It really just came to me one day. A lot of the postings about names say that it happens like that frequently.

One method is to ask your MINI what his/her name is. I guess that could happen before or after delivery.

I love to brainstorm on names. Couple of questions for you both:
  • What kind of names do you like (i.e., English, funny, "pet" names, people names)?
  • Do you want/like male or female names?
I originally wanted to name him something very English/British. Winston was my first choice but it is the second most popular MINI name (according to an OL survey I saw in another post).

I like Pip but I think Doogs is thinking about Pippen. For the people on the Patriot, esp. Beauregard, I think something patriotic is cool. Someone mentioned "Indi" but she isn't going to use it. Sorry PW27SG member...I can't remember who you are!

I have thought of mostly male names as it has been obvious that my MINI is a boy/guy.

Someone on NAM told me that MCs are girls and MC are boys. What? I don't get that one (and don't agree either). Can you tell???

I like Dexter, Nigel (another popular one)...ummm...Simon (but that is my turtle's name).

Throw me a few thoughts and we'll brainstorm.

Turcicus - what does your screen name mean? Is it Latin...Greek? That may give you/us some ideas.

That's it for now.

EDIT: Another one I thought of was, of course, Scooter but that just doesn't fit now.

I do like English names. I love the name Cedric, but my wife and I plan to use that name if we ever have a baby boy. I also really like the name Declan (I'm still trying to convince my wife that we could name our baby this as well ), but it's Irish.

As for male or female, I'm not sure yet. Maybe a unisex nickname will be better.

My screen name actually comes from the scientific name of a gecko - Hemidactylus turcicus. It was said a few times in one of my favorite movies (The Relic) and I thought it would make a great Internet pseudonym.

Hmmm, a name just came to me - Nitro. Thoughts??

I LOVE the name Nitro! Speedy, zippy, explosive. And it definitely goes with Hyper Blue!

That would be cool. But the low quantity would mean a higher cost. On the other hand, the actual plate (where I got the template for the design) is $40.

We could all get them and use them as front plates. Oh...wait a sec...some states require front and back plates. AZ only requires a back plate.

Hmmmm....

More info for crishchun and a nice big update for all...

My Mini's on a boat that should be docking in Charleston on the 27th! My MA didn't pass along the name (I've e-mailed back asking for it), but at least I know my baby's on the way!

About time, too!

Aww... that's a bummer the TRINIDAD won't get in until the 21st! At least I know it is still floating!

I have been thinking of names and I always keep going back to the name Charlie. I think it is definitely a red car color name. I hear so many unique ones out there though. I'm just not creative at all. :(

And yes, VA is one of those lousy states that requires a front license plate However, a PW27SG sticker would be cheap - check out www.quickstickers.com. They do custom, one-off stuff for a reasonable price.

MINE IS ON THE WAY!!!!! Yes, I am screaming, lol. I am uber-excited about this. It is on a ship called "The Emden" and left on the 14th, should arrive on the 27th into Charleston. I called my MA to find out about this, and he said my estimated delivery date is between August 2-5! :-) I am officially in a good mood. WooHoo!

Drew - my "mystery ship" is docking on the 27th as well. Maybe your Mini and mine are shipmates!

Good News!!!!

I just found out I am also on the Emden (with HPUdrew). It is a "K" line vessel that left Southampton on 7/14 and stops in Baltimore on the 25th before arriving in Charleston on the 27th. My MA said this shipping line often arrives a few days early. Even better! When I spoke with ASK-MINI this morning, they said I am still on the dock. Go figure. I was feeling very lonely, thinking that all of you had sailed without me. Glad to be with you at sea!

Impressive. Forensics explosives examiner? Forensic science is a "dream career" for me. Hmmm...maybe you can inspire me or NOT???

Regardless, it makes NITRO even more perfect. SWEET!

I'm dying to see your vanity plates. I already have mine... but they don't have anything to do with Jake but certainly MINI.

Send me a personal message and tell!! I know you probably don't want to post it. I'd love to decipher it unless it's obvious. A favorite "forensic" past time of mine. I love the clever ones!

I'm on the job...I'm a on-site computer tech...my own biz...so I have to roll. Just "testing" a wireless connection and I chose NAM! What a surprise eh?
Perhaps I can't study computer/technology forensics. Hmmmm...

Oh...I'll check out the stickers later. Thx for the link.

Interesting that MCS are girls and MC are boys? I was thinking for mine to be a girl, but now I'm not sure. lol. But what I am sure of is that the color PW/B will play a role in the decision name making. I have a feeling it'll come to me once I first lay eyes on him/her.

Those names "speedy" type names sound awesome for a MINI! I'll have to whip out the thesaurus.

I just saw it too! Looks like it's on schedule. But I don't see the Trinidad on the http://www.aislive.com Halifax map? Also, I wonder why then is http://www.firstnynj.com is reporting it to arrive on 7/21? Maybe this is a second port in the area? I remember someone here (too lazy to go back) who was on the Patriot said it docked in two ports in the NJ/NY area. Perhaps the Trinidad is doing so too?

MINI day today!

I must've seen around 10 MINIs on my commute back home tonight! The sighting of the first 5 was within a span of 7-8 minutes!

I work in NYC and I take a commuter bus to shuttle me to and from my town and Midtown. The bus takes the Lincoln Tunnel (for those unfamiliar, the Lincoln Tunnel links Midtown Manhattan to NJ). After emerging into the Jersey side, it's not surprising to see that there is always traffic going the other way into the city. It was here in that particular bumper-to-bumper traffic I witnessed not 2.. not 3.. not 4.. but 5 MINIs! All of different colors and models. Then back onto the main artery (NJ Turnpike) I saw 3 consecutive PW MINIs (1 PW/PW and 2 PW/B).

Today was the most MINIs I've ever seen in one day. I think it's a sign, especially those PW ones. Mine's coming soon!

I'm going to have my camera phone ready next time. I know I'll be bound to see more.

Any similiar stories to share?
