Production Week 24 (June 12, 2006) Support Group
Customer Relations at ASK-MINI informed me that my MCS graduated from the paint shop, made it through assembly & the quality check and is now on it's way to the port.
I thought I was anxious before but now it's almost intolerable.

okchili, what part of Oklahoma are you from? I'll be in Oklahoma for my second time in two years for a wedding. In fact we'll be about 70 miles west of Oklahoma City (in Watonga - near Roman Nose State Park) this coming weekend.
Hi All,
I am pretty sure I AM now part of this group, because today I finally got a prod. number from my dealer, and checked the ASK-MINI phone....
I got a completion date of June 12 (TODAY) from the system. I may follow advice of some and ask for a human there, since my MA told me she just put the order in "couple of days ago".... you see I was hoping for an August delivery to avoid overlap with my leased car....
Anyway, my VIN number has shown up in the owner's lounge, and if it's truly done today, I'm happy to be aboard with ye.
And sounds like one other here is getting their MINI sent to the same dealership: Moterwerks MINI in Bloomington, MN!- "Aficianado"?
Don't know how to work the smilies or the sig parts... this is my first post!
Sir Mini
CR/W MCS, pretty lean!

Aficianado,
I'm right up the hill in Lakeville, practically neighbors!
I'm going to try to delay pick of of mine until August,
though it may kill me to have to drive over to the dealership
and just LOOK at it for a few weeks!
BTW, I've already driven around the new shop-
had to check it out, even though the road was closed.
I might have been the first customer in there!
We are lucky to have Moterwerks only 15 minutes away from us.
I'll be back....

The automated man told me the completion date was yesterday... so I called today to see what the status was. The actual person told me the completion date was June 15! WTF! He said it went into production June 6. Isn't that an awfully long time for production???

I got to talk to a live person today at ASK-MINI, and since yesterday,
when my MCS was listed as scheduled to be done June 12,
they now say my car is IN THE PAINT SHOP!
I guess it's moving backward down the line....
Now scheduled for completion TODAY! My they do work fast over there!

It also sounds like we're on the exact same production time...I'd have to give you a lot of credit if you held out until August to pick up your MCS!
Once you're in some stage of production, seems to me the important date is getting on a boat!
The best info that Ask MINI has may be off day or two here there; but if you're in the paint shop or any other inside-production stage and you see further movement to the next step of the process, it would appear that you are moving . . ."down the birth canal."
5-7 days appears to be the best shot on how long the production stage lasts. Once through production, the car appears to get to the docks very quickly; perhaps the same day as production was completed.
WW ships are set to sail from Southampton to Charleston on 16 (arrive Charleston 29JUN06) and 17JUN06 (arrive Charleston 01JUL06. I believe that both of these boats will be stopping in NJ and another location on the way down the east coast to Charleston; so those of you in the NE should see arrival a couple of days prior.
There is also a 16JUN06 departure from Southampton on the K-Line America "North Atlantic Shuttle Service," with no inbetween stops and apparently arriving in Charleston on 28JUN06 (or perhaps a day or so earlier, since 28JUN06 is the departure date from Charleston)
(If MINI uses other lines to get to Charleston, I don't know about them.)
If your Cooper is not on one of these ships, then delivery will likely slip about a week from what it looks like right now, to the end of next week.
Our MCS is in the paint shop for the second day. I'm expecting it to be on
a 16 JUN boat . . . , but will settle for a 17JUN sail!

I ask because I've been pinging WW's site with my VIN to see if it's been assigned to a ship. However, if the next ship isn't due until the 16th then maybe I'm wasting my time...

Too bad you won't have your MINI for the drive
I am really getting excited now. I found out that mine has finished production and on it's way to port. So maybe just a couple more weeks. I wonder how long it takes to get to Dallas (which is where I ordered it at) after it comes in to the US?
Hmmm... Anybody know if Dallas Minis are delivered to California? If so then that takes longer than East Coast deliveries.
I'd love to be able to have a 'broken in' Mini for the trip but I'm not sure I'd want to travel that far (about 20 hours) with my wife, two kids (10 & 12), and luggage when I've only got 1 1/2 days to get there.
When we're close to or in Guthrie we'll all wave out the window. Maybe you'll sense it in the 'force'.

Second Time Through Production
Hey Everybody-
Looks like we're in this group as well. I ordered my HB/W MCS Valentine's Day 2005 - and I'm still waiting...j/k.
I took delivery April 16, 2005 and am still so tickled every time I see him out a window or get to drive him that I can't see straight.
My husband has his CR/W MCS on order now - currently in the body shop.
Some of the questions that I've seen, I can try to help out with, having dealt with the agonizing wait myself.

- It's totally worth it. Like the MADMIKE and his 350Z, I had never even been close to a MINI when I ordered - we don't even have a dealer in town. The first time I drove Andy, I was in love.
- If you'd like to see the process your MINI goes through before you get it, sign into the OL then click on the link under the picture of a car going through the assembly line - this is in the "scheduled for production" phase. You can download a 12+ minute time-lapse movie of the production process.
- Both the site and ASKMINI are about a day behind on the actual schedule, sometimes more - if the schedule hasn't changed at ASKMINI in while, speak with a person - their staff are great!
- Once you've been assigned a ship - there are two ports on the east coast one in Charleston SC and another in NJ - the kids on the west coast have to wait for their ships to go through the canal and come over - if memory serves, that takes an additional week. All the ships leave out of Oxford or the port close by - from there they go to their respective ports, run through BMW's VDC and then the MINIs are either trained or trucked to the dealer. This post goes into more detail:https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ght=ship+ports
- Once at the dealer, they have to install their options and that wait time just depends on what you ordered. I got just about everything except the WORKS package, they got him in on a Friday and I think he was ready to go by Wednesday - they knew we weren't coming until the next Saturday, so that may have had something to do with it taking a little longer
- Pick out the clothes your going to wear, the first song you're going to play on your drive home, charge your camera and enjoy the process - this is an awesome car and the day you pick up your baby is a day you will remember forever.

Production complete
So it is now official, my "vehicle production is complete and is waiting to be released to the carrier." The folks at AskMINI also confimed that my MINI will be coming into Charleston, SC...so I hope I can catch the 6/16 vessel for a 6/29 ETA.
