ShafTT - very nice! PW was my 1st choice, but when we saw the Pure Silver in person I couldn't resist. I still love the PW. It's just a great classic look.

Odas Koger - I would say the time to dealer from distribution center 3-4 days tops. Mine took 3 days to get to the dealer.

My OL status finally changed to "At the Distribution Center"

Has anybody besides me started envisioning how a situation might be different if they were driving their mini?

It sounds strange but at my daughter's softball game yesterday morning there were a row of cars parked in the
lot near the field and while walking to the lot I was dreaming of seeing my little Hyper Blue guy just sitting there...

Oh, well it shouldn't be too long now.

MiniAficianado, I hope you don't change your mind about getting your mini. Just imagine how much attention people will give you driving a Mini than a GTI. Don't get me wrong GTI is good car but Mini is a whole different category. You can read all sorts of stats and comparison but, at least for me, I'm not buying it for that reason. I'm getting it for what it is, a nice looking, fun to drive, eye-catching car. Any other goods things that I discover while owning this car will be icing in the cake. Just my $0.02. Goodluck on your decision, I'm sure you'll make the right one for yourself.

Where is your dealership in relation to the Distribution Center?

I'm trying to get an idea of the VDC time (which looks pretty short for you--suggesting no "campaigns" to upgrade for any of us ) and the trucking time from VDC to dealership (assume that this can be very short).

Thanks,

Mine also came in on the Manon and was offloaded on the 26th. It had to do it's 'stuff' and then was over at Morristown, NJ mini for collection by us on the 30th. Doesn't seem to take much time at all

Good luck!

Awesome car ShafTT... sorry i was online earlier... was too busy motoring

actually I was busy extremely busy on saturday with the car. Here's a list of things done:

1. rust proofing the undercarriage, suspension and engine compartment. BMW/MINI did the bare minimum and my garage basically took care of the rest. Several of the guys used to perform work for the local BMW dealerships, they took care of the car using the factory wax undercarriage coating.
2. Installed the Factory Alarm
3. Installed the Aux Input
4. Installed the iPod Adapter
5. Washed the car
6. Drained the factory wiper fluid
7. Adjusted the wiper jet washers. The driver side was fine but the passenger side was shooting the car next to me. Not so great quality control on the part of MINI imho.

EDIT... 8. installed the front Mud guards.

Today I washed and applied Klasse AIO and Gloss sealant. I love the car. Hope everyone gets theirs soon! Happy 4th everyone!

Great news! I just got a call from my MINI dealer and it looks like my car will be at the dealer Wednesday or Thursday. Since I have to travel to Dallas to pick it up we are planning on a Saturday pickup.

I am so excited! I really didn't expect to pick it up until next Saturday.

We showed up as "at the distribution center" on MINI USA early Sunday morning. Of course, I expect that we were actually at the VDC on 29 or 30 JUN, two-three days sooner than 02JUL. I called our MA today and he guesses that car will be at MINI of Nashville by Thursday or Friday.

Acitydweller, you have been busy! (I looked at all of your recent posts.) Why, pray tell, are you changing out the factory wiper fluid?

(Actuall I expect that you will have a very reasonable answer, I just like using these little smiley faces! )

Oh, and I kind of like the traveling into the future thing . . . .

i'm pretty sure the washer fluid change is a result of discussions in this thread:

interesting...

hehe... OMG someone's actually reading what I write on nam???

Yes, indeed i drained all of my wiper fluid. the NAM research on Kosmelene also helped me prepare for this as I found some fluid on day 2 of ownership on the bonnet.

on saturday (day 3 of ownership) i gave my car a quick rinse. This was to get off any overspray from the underbody waterproofing project. I noticed some liquid oozing from the base of both spray nozzels. I immediately cleaned it up, being the detailing perfectionist that I am (Xtrmely **** about my cars).

I filled the resevoir with water and emptied it out twice to clear the system of any of the original fluid. I then replaced it with half a bottle of wiper fluid i had left. I intend to stop by the BMW dealership and get their wiper fluid to replace it. smells like bubble gum due to the additives.

Replacing the fluid is a must on your new MINI's... diluting it just isnt enough since it may not actually mix completely in the resevoir tank.

It was also a good way to test the low resevior indicator on the wiper stalk... new for the 06's

Yes, I have read what you have written. Reason is I have gradually realized that, as well as having gotten the first delivery out of our group, you have a certain thoroughness about you that I find appealing and potentially insightful. I am, in spite of reading about MCs in the Rondel for the last few years--and doing quick research for about a week before ordering and a lot of additional research during the ensuing odyssey--a relative neophite to this car. It is the only new car that my wife and I have ever ordered and it takes the place of a BMW that I dearly loved driving, so it is destined to be primarily my daily driver and has a lot of my personality wrapped up in it. I too, am apt to be rather **** about this MCS. So, the rather bizzare wiper fluid situation is of great interest. My thought was also to pick up some BMW fluid to replace the MINI stuff with. This is the longest I've been without driving my '90 325 iS in the last six years--since 19MAY06, so I have had severe withdrawls, even with an occasional drive of my wife's Z3. It just isn't the same. My expectations of driving the MCS are that I will love it stupid , so I am having difficulty waiting these final hours . . . . (Blah, blah, blah, etc. ) Keep those post a coming! Thanks!

Yes I read your posts too! Not only are you our first member of the S.G. to be driving (ooops, MOTORING) your new MINI, but you keep pretty busy on other posts too. I Enjoy your perspective.

Now, when my MINI comes, before I test out the spray pattern on the wipers or anything, HOW do I go about draining the reservoir? Is there a drain plug or did you siphon off the stuff? You didn't actually run it through the wiper nozzles did you?

Oh, and one thing I plan to do in month #1 is pull my wheels and put on some wheelmates or other anti-seize compound so my wheels don't get stuck to the axles when I go to pull them for the winter...

Other than that,
Acitydweller, what should I have for my pick-up the MINI checklist?

I'm getting a bit anxious now, mates!

Sir Mini

Well, no Mini for me today. Appears that deposits on special order cars mean nothing but interest for the dealer until you receive your car whenever they get around to it. My car got to the VDC last week and has been waiting for Bavarian Motortransport to take it to my dealer but no such luck as of this pm. They shipped other dealer stock cars but left mine, so much for a $4000.00 deposit. Doesn't set well that a presold vehicle sets waiting and dealer stock gets delivered or maybe thats just me! Guess I'll appreciate the car more!

Man that's a bummer. I left a message for my MA yesterday but he hasn't returned my call yet. Mine has an estimated delivery date to the dealer of July 4th but for all I know, it's still in Charleston.

How did you find out where your car was? Did your MA tell you that your car was snubbed at the VDC?

My MA called the transport company and they said the vin# hadn't been picked up. I asked him to call the VDC and they said the car was there wainting for transport. The individual actually saw the car. I'm alittle concerned about damage in shipment, although they say its fine!
