Grinning from Ear to Ear!!!!! New Checkmate!!!

Friday night I picked up the car at Mini of Manhattan, and all I can say is WOW!!!!...
Much better looking in person... I love the interior with the cloth/leather combo...
I will post pics soon...
After driving it 200 miles, I can find no real fault with the car...
I ordered most of the possible options... and this is one smart car.
I ordered several aftermarket items.

Firstly, Blitzsafe makes an ipod charger/head unit interface which plugs into CD changer harness in back... Works flwlessly, and took about 10 minutes to install... The only thing it doesnt do is display info on radio... Not important to me... I have color video ipod and that screen is what i want to see...
Pro clip USA makes the best mounts/holder for anything...
Highly recommended...
The blitzsafe adapter was 79 bux at logjamelectronics.com

Secondly, The Parrot EVO3000 hands free bluetooth kit...
Works flawlessly!! I have a treo 700w, and didnt know if everything including voice prints would work, but it does... Install was more demanding then ipod, but thanks to Mike at newministuff.com and his DIY helpful hints, I was able to install in about 1 hour!! The only issue was stuffing crap back in the slot and fitting radio back in... With this kit I was able to upload via bluetooth, my contacts and then use voice prints to trigger calls... Sound quality over HK speakers is wonderful....

Thirdly, trailer hitch/receptacle from miniaturetrailers.com
I have the unit, but havent intalled it yet...
I plan on using it for bike rack and carrying cargo on cargo carrier attached to it...

Everyone had mentioned that the ride was very firm , but really the only thing I notice is due to the short wheel base, the ride can be bouncy...
When you buy a sports car you want a firm ride...
I think it rides beautifully..

I actually wound up taking the checkers off the side, and I am glad I did as it lookd a little more stealth.... I love the checkmate bonnet stripe though and the silver rook/caps...

I will revert with more, and pics soon!!!

Good choice

Good choice. I think you will continue to be pleased.

I really like the Checkmate. It is stylish without being over done.

I tested the ride and the LSD on a wet bumpy back road and I find the ride to be both comfortable and sporty and the LSD works.

Sounds like a great car...let us know how the minitrailer hitch thing works...I want to get one for Ducky, but hubby says the cars is too small for a trailer. I can't get him to understand that I won't be pulling horses....but it would be nice to have when the next time comes that we have to evacuate. Put the doggies and people in the car, put the luggage in a Rubber Maid/ Tough box thingie and off you go. Mick

The Checkmate is space blue... (gorgeous color, dark but very nice)
The interior trim matches, and the seats are blue leather/ grey cloth.
I was also impressed with the HK sound...
With my ipod I get real good bass and clean sound overall...

Pictures soon...

Thank you! That is a good combo. But I am biased towards the Checkmate package.

Just curious why you took the checker board decals off and was it difficult to do?? Is the Space Blue close to a navy blue colour?? I assume the silver roof, stripe and mirrors coordinate well. Are you happy with the cloth seats? The main reason we purchased the Checkmate was to be able to obtain the cloth seats.

Congratulations!!! Glad to see other Checkmates here. Some folks don't like the wheels, but they're growing on me. I actually think I'll keep them on my car.
