Newbie - VA - '05 MCSC

My wife and I just ordered, this past weekend, a Hyper Blue (in and out) MCSC. Cannot wait until it gets here. Was going to get the wife the Cooper Conv but she thought I would be happier when driving "her car" if we had the S. Sounded great to me.

Coming from a VR6 Jetta and a '87 325is, the added power will be great to have. Compromised on no Xenon or 8 speaker sound system and other minor ammenities to keep the car affordable, but I would rather have the engine. In a way by buying the S you almost get the Cooper with Sport package. All I wanted (being a driver) were the sport seats, larger wheels, and the better suspension. Now I got it with more umph too.

Looking forward to learning more about my Mini on this site. And looking forward more to the top down driving. Now I just need to keep the mod bug away from this car. Must focus on BMW.... two play cars? I am in trouble!

How long have people waited to get production numbers from the dealer? I don't want to be too pushy, it has only been 1 full working day since I dropped the deposit.

Thanks in advance. Great site from what I have seen so far.

Welcome aboard my friend! You are going to love you new motoring machine when it arrives. Sometimes it takes several weeks to get a Production Number....patience...

Check out www.dcmetrominis.org - your local club. They also have a forum here on NAM which will keep you updated on things happening in the area. Great bunch of folks - we moved away from there a year ago and we miss them bunches....

Happy Motoring (soon)

Chow!

Welcome. Where in Va are you located? I too had an E30 325is. About the same power to weight ratio as the MCS but the MINI loses a lot less thru the driveline. I had too many toys, too - insurance was killing me.

Sorry for the delayed return, I was vactioning over the Holidays. BTW there are at least 4 MC's on the small island of Kauai! No covertibles yet!

I live in Falls Church. I am keeping the E30 for now, or as long as I can. That will remain the track car / toy. See you on the road soon. I am going to call the dealer on Monday to see if they can get me a production number.

Want:

Where did you order yours? Sterling, VA? I live in Herndon.

Yeah, purchased at Sterling. I looked around at all the ones around and they all are selling at MSRP and I knew I was going to order custom so why bother to travel. I know some have concerns with Sterling service, but I have also talked with others that swear by them. So far the exerience has been good.

I am VERY cautious trusting dealers, coming from VW, so I will be watching how they treat me very closely.

My question to you... Why wait? I ordered in December expecting a 60 to 90 day wait. 3 weeks and still on order, which is fine with me. Gives me time to save up some more money for deposit and sell the other car. But to wait until next year? Are you worried about it being a new model?

Exactly my reason about the new model... I have talked to people in Sterling. I have 3 benzes now so i'm not really in a hurry. I do like the mcs convertiblem not bad for the price. Well congrats on your order and I'm sure you will love it.

Where are you located? I'm in Herndon.
