New to the Mini world!

I recently purchased an 07 mini Cooper. I don't think I have had any where near as much fun with this car than any I have driven. It is Oxygen Blue with black racing stripes. Going into this car from an 1986 4 runner has been amazing. Joined this forum to learn more about mini Coopers and to share the experience. Look forward to reading up on this forum! I haven't seen a Mini Cooper this color ever on the street. Is this an uncommon color? -TRN

Welcome to NAM, great looking car.

Don't know too much about the Gen2s but pretty sure somebody will chime in on the color combo. That year has the N14 engine, are you aware of the issues with the timing chain guide?

Some consider the engine a better boat anchor than a car motor. If there are any maintenance records, check to see if the guides were changed. Be sure to change the oil every 5,000 miles and then be sure to change the oil every 5,000 miles. Carbon build up is also a big issue, need to walnut blast the valves.

Check out some threads in the Gen2 Stock Problems/Issues section.

Nope, no hood scoop therefore it is not the "S" model with the turbo. You have the N12 engine which has a pretty good reliability record. Check out the Gen2 FAQ for how to identify which engine you have. Also check out the rest of the Gen2 forum for how to fix just about any problem you may have.

Enjoy the car!

That's a relief. It is not an S. It has about 111k miles on it. I literally just got it a little over a week ago. It was something sporty that also gets awesome mileage, which was important to me as I drive 70 miles to work and back Monday thru Friday. I just checked the oil and it is perfectly fine. I appreciate the warm welcome.

All good. It really is a good looking car. Drives amazing too. Only issue is getting additional keys...

Looks great! Is that laser blue? I'm new and still learning the colors.

Manual? What MPG are you seeing on your commute?

I think it's called Oxygen Blue and it's an automatic and I average 32mpg. Mostly highway miles.
