My new 04 MC R50 - a new world is opening up to me
Hi,
I'm new to this blog, in fact I am totally new to the works of Minis. Well, actually not entirely. Before I introduce my recently acquired MC let me first share that when I was about 2 years old one of my uncles lived with us for a couple of years.
A few weeks ago a green 04 R50 happen to catch my eye on Craigslist. It turned out the seller was located a 10 minutes walk from my house and in fact I walked passed this car many times on my way to the train station.
Now it's mine and I'm loving it. It has a list of issues but it rides well. I will be taking my time to get it in good condition.
thats cool and it does look great, when i was looking into getting a mini this was the exact color and wheel combo i desperately wanted. Its always been green for me in any car that i owned, but happily i did end up with a 2004 pepper white with 58k and with little issues so i couldn't complain....good luck with it
Thanks Chris. I like the white on black combo a lot as well.
The funny thing is that I hadn't even paid attention to the phone dial rims until after I got it. Was this part of some kind of package, together with auto AC, electric everything like sunroof and all leather?
The mileage as it stands is 95k. I'm only planning on riding it around town so she hopefully will last a while.
She did come with the following "issues" which gave me great leverage for a good deal:
1. the previous owner did not get it through the smog test due to the elusive code p0455 system leak. I have a year to take care of this.
2. one of the trunk hinges snapped. I already replaced them, wasn't easy but at least I now don't need to worry about getting caught in the rain.
3. small oil leak, one drip a day.
4. it has damage on the rear right side.
Not sure on the options package for the mini, my MC does have the same power everything, heated seats, leather, roof but i also have the roof mounts for there roof rack system witch i did buy from a dealer pretty cheap but it is an old system so i could understand the cheaper price......You will find this mini site to be friendly and very helpful with the fixes you may need to do with your MC. The damage you had on the other side was a surprise, i was bummed to see that, hopefully you can get most of that out, but good luck with it and have some fun......Thumbs up!!
The Holies, as they are more often called, are great wheels at 12 pounds each and didn't come on any particular package from my memory. (Original owner since 2004 here.) The Holies and the 8-spoke 15x5.5 wheels were the stock wheels for the Cooper. If you opted for the Sport Package you got the choice of 16x6.5 5-spoke Star or V-spokes. You may have had to pay extra for V-Spokes on the Cooper with Sport Package...
