Owners Lounge is worthless if you want current day status. My car never reflects correctly as it can't reflect a JCW build. Plus, my status on it still shows Awaiting Transport & has yet to move to En Route. Go figure.

Mine changed from 'awaiting transport' to 'en route' after a couple of days. Odd.

Am I missing a resource to utilize to track/see progress of a K-Line ship as it crosses the pond? The last update I am able to see or find is 'as of 4/24' & the Curitiba leaving the channel/entering the Atlantic.

http://www.sailwx.info/
http://www.marinetraffic.com/ais/

This waiting blindly and having nothing to check for progression each day is no fun &

Any suggestions or insight would be appreciated.

Congratulations!

Customer relations just told me that my order was approved on April 7th, accepted for production on the 26th, and is waiting to be scheduled for production.

I called today and asked to talk to a person just to see what they'd tell me. It must have been this poor girl's first day. I had to tell her its called a production number. She could only repeat what I already knew. Poor thing has no idea what she's in for with the MINI crowd!

You should be able to track the ship with those resources. Do you know its name or call-sign? sailwx.info should be able to track it as it makes its way to Halifax. marinetraffic.com seems to only show ships near a port. I was blind for a day as the Faust sailed between Halifax and NYC, until it was just south of RI.

Faust is still docked at NY (technically, NJ) and w2global site still shows my car as loaded on vessel... I don't know how I'll get any work done the next two days!

Yes. Thanks. I use that and get the same answer. Per sailwx.info:

Ship last reported (UTC) position Callsign
CURITIBA 2010-Apr-24 1711 N 49°06', W 005°54' 3FIP4

Curitiba - Last reported at 2010-Apr-24 17:11 UTC. Time now 2010-Apr-28 22:00 UTC. Position N 49°06', W 005°54'.

Oh. And BTW, i don't know how you will get any work done either . . . i'd be planning my trip . . . . congrats - all most there w/ the conv christo4ferris

Thanks, I've got my eye on the weather forecast for the weekend ( http://www.weather.com/weather/tenday/01534 ) 72, 79, 75 - but mostly cloudy - at least there's no rain predicted.

Maybe sailwx.info is not getting updates from the ship? You can also try Google Earth... I think there's a plug-in for ship tracking. The near-realtime one costs $$, but there is a delayed free version if I remember correctly. Info should be in the sticky post that tells how to track.

per the Google Earth/Vessel Tracker from the sticky "How to Track . . . " --->>>
I get the following "The current position is not available because the vessel is not in one of our covered regions at the moment." I give.

you are right sekhmet101, I should get over it. I can't believe I am getting this anxious over this . . .

The ships track (roughly) 50 degrees latitude and make roughly 10 degrees longitude progress per day. On day 6, start checking marinetraffic.com centered on Halifax, it should show eventually.

I'm beginning to think it's a personality (dis?)order OMOTD - obsessive MINI order tracking disorder The cure is taking delivery

Once I broke down and went up to the dealership to talk to the manager, she noted that once they had the VIN they could get everything put through ("under contract") and locked in for up to 60 days - car just has to be at the dealership before the 60 days is up.

If you haven't already finalized anything, run the numbers... If you're getting the premium package it works out cheaper to go with the 3.9% and the $1750 option credit.

I may have everyone beat on frustration factor. I bought one of the WC50's. My motoring advisor can confirm it started production April 14th but the VIN and production numbers are hidden. He's calling the regional manager tomorrow to try to get the numbers. At least I have the 1.9 financing locked as of today.

If I ran the numbers correctly, the same runs true if you only take the automatic option (1250).

Nice! Those are built by hand, no? I wonder how long that process takes. I also wonder why all the secrecy. Glad to hear you got the financing locked in.

Yeah, you're right... saves about $5.00 a month according to the finance calculator on the miniusa.com site. Thanks for the tip.

They are painted and finished by hand, yes. I called 1 800 ask mini and they did some research and said they could see no reason for the secrecy either and suggested going to the regional manager for information. So I'm supposed to get some info tomorrow.

I'm not a math wiz but I calculated closer to $20 a month. I don't think the calculator on the miniusa site is a good one. Try bankrate.com auto calculator.

My MA said the 3.9/option credit was only good if the car was delivered by 4/30. The sales manager said he could lock the 1.9 rate for 90 days if I was preapproved (I am). I don't trust either of them. The dealer wanted to document their $1,000 off msrp offer plus the 1.9% rate after the car arrived. I insisted they send it to me via email or cancel the order.

I believe how much you save on the 1.9 versus 3.9/option credit depends on how much you're paying in total. On the other hand it may be the case that I should hand in my MBA due to senility.

Yep! I went back through my emails, and that is exactly what he said as well - about the 60 days. So...whew!

There really weren't any other options that I wanted. Wanted the smaller wheels at 16", didn't want sunroof (too much weight), I'm so happy with the car just stock! About the only thing I'd like to have is the auto climate - but meh!
