Weeks 15 - 20 (Apr 5 – May 15, 2010) Support Group
Well, remember too that sometimes it takes a few days to get through the VPC, and then to get onto a truck anyway. My guess is once the boat docks, there could still be a 4-7 day lag there. At least, that's what my MA told me. And we're just 4.5 - 5 hours from Baltimore...
Awww HS, that made me feel better. Thanks.
Whats going on with yours? Has yours been transported to the port yet?
Is the Don Carlos reporting it's location?
Thank you all. Appreciate the support & direction throughout the process.
Friday here in Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) was a mess with storms and such. I was a bit ill prepared because I really did not expect it to get through the VDC (aero kit added), transported to Dallas and through the dealer checks so quickly e.g. arrived @ VDC in Brunswick, GA on the 7th and was ready for me at the dealer by Friday the 14th. So I grabbed my check list and ipod but forgot the camera. I did my qc inside the showroom which was nice. Then the rain tappered off as we took it for a test drive to make sure things were in good order before I took delivery and went into finance. After that was over, the skies cleared up and I was able to take my first drive as an owner with the top down. The forecast was for more rain all weekend - but - thank goodness the weather forecast is wrong 50% of the time - we ended up getting clear sunny skies all weekend. That said, my wife and I put in 6+ hours on the openometer and ~250 miles on the mini over the weekend. But again, in all the rush and fun, I again took no pictures. I had to get my joy rides in because I had an out of town business trip planned for all this week. Ugh - no mini. So when I get back in town, I will get some snap shots and figure out how to post per the protocol.
While I am here though, I thought I would recap my adventure in the hopes that it is helpful to others who choose to go the ordering route.

Literally only six weeks from start to finish to get it here in Texas!
It was tough at times but I enjoyed it just the same and I am glad I took this route. And yes, Owner's Lounge was worthless throughtout the process - as of today, it is still showing 'Awaiting Transport'. I had a great MA that kept me informed and the insight from this forum was awesome.
Cheers!

Congrats! Sounds like a good weekend to me!
I was still in Brunswick waiting to get put on a truck as of Monday, having been there for 9 days at that point... Hoping it makes a truck and gets here by this weekend. 2 months, 3 days and counting...

Placed my Order for a 2010 JCW on April 9. Website still lists as "On Order" not even "Scheduled for Production" but my dealer has the VIN and assures me it'll be here around June 5. We'll see.
Edit: According to 2W's website. They delivered my Mini to Baltimore 2 days ago. So much for Mini's tracking website.

The Don Carlos is in NY! Finally! I saw it this morning off LI, at least I think it was the DC. Anyway its a day late. BTW, The MINIUSA Owners Lounge says my car is still "on order", even as it slides into port today on the DC. Very soon, very soon.
Cheers

We're on the same boat! Awesome. I thought it was 2 days late. That makes me very unhappy because I was hoping to get my car this weekend. I tracked it online but I wasn't going down to the waterfront to watch it. I don't know how I would have explained that to my boss.
I figure now is a good time to de-lurk. Mine is on its way to Southampton as well! Probably boarding the same boat since mine is destined for San Diego. Perhaps our MINIs will be crate-mates. It's going to be a long voyage. I believe the boat's name is MEDEA.
So I'd originally been told that my car would be on a truck from the VDC on Friday the 14th and at the dealer this past Monday. When I called on Monday and it hadn't gotten on a truck yet, I got concerned. When I hadn't heard anything back yesterday I called and inquired, and was told they've got a call in to the folks responsible for getting the cars on the trucks to find out what's going on as they're waiting on a couple of other cars as well...
Got a call back today and was advised that BMW/MINI has switched trucking companies (previously unbeknownst to the dealer) and the new company doesn't have the bandwidth to cover the volume, so now they're scrambling to either get additional shipping lined up or switch back to the old company. In the meantime, they're prioritizing BMWs for shipment and my car's stranded in Brunswick.
But they're "seeing what they can do"...
