Folks should really take the time and read through the How to Track your MINI: Revised, Expanded and Updated thread under 1st Gear (i've tried to insert the direct link below). It will set your expectations through the entire process and provide instruction on where to find certain information e.g. that OL will not show your true build for the first couple of days, where to find you VIN if your MA has it entered to the system, when the VIN is assinged, etc. It will tell you that not all MAs or OL reps are created equal and will provide you with the background you need to lead them in suppling the information you want & desire. I found it very helpful and still relative.

Oh I KNOW I haven't been as productive. My boss keeps asking me when I'm going to get my car. I think he knows that I'm obsessed! haha

No, they didn't screw up anything. I decided I wanted rear fog lamps & an anthracite headliner days AFTER I ordered the car. I called my MA to ask for the changes fully expecting her to say it's too late. Instead she ordered a new car for me. I haven't had a chance to talk to her since so I can't tell you why. I doubt that is normal operating procedure.

If you really want to laugh here's what she said at first "The VIN is assigned at the dealer"

Seriously! All it does is make everyone frustrated. A car shouldn't do that until the first time we have to deal with the service dept.

Is your car in production now?

I did read it. It set my expectations way too high for the tracking experience. I'm looking forward to using the cargo ship tracking info soon, though!

Jess, that's very cool that they let you just order another car! They must have liked your original spec enough that they thought they could see it outright.

"Is your car in production now?"

Both the automated response system and Jody say so, so I'm making an estimate of 94% probability that it is so. Estimated completion date of 5/17, three days behind you.

HS,

Did your car go into production a few days earlier then estimated? I thought I remembered a build date of 5/20. That is good news!

That's great news. I was feeling a little guilty for having two cars scheduled to be finished before you.

If this is week 20, it's on schedule. If not, it's a week early. I'm relieved that it is started. The MA and ASK MINI both said May 20th but the heading on the date was yr/mo/wk.

Guilty? It never occurred to me that it was your fault.

That's COOL! Where did you get this map? Is it another tracking site?

Getting my MINI today

My MA called this morning and said my mini arrived @ dealership yesterday and will be cleaned up & qc'd by noon. Going this afternoon to pick it up!

Attached are a couple of quick shots my MA provided off her iphone. She took shots of the aero kit because I had been asking her questions about whether or not I was getting the new version with the brake ducts - and I did!

Is anyone else shopping for their MINI already? I'm planning on ordering a Build-a-Badge holder, a few badges from Motoring File, and far more detailing products than my car washing history would suggest.

Already have a JCW Clubbie in the garage and a S Convertible before that. We have a lot of car washing supplies and a tool box side covered with badges.

However I plan on purchasing a new set of wash mitts and drying towels and even more badges.

Yep! Some detailing products from my buddy Richard (OctaneGuy).

I've got floor mats, a short antenna, some stickers and a couple of different sets of alternate mirror caps to try on in the office closet. Had a "Platypus" no-holes license plate bracket from Craven Speed that I bought back in March right after ordering, but I just shipped it out today - sold it in the Marketplace (decided I liked the plate better in the middle, and since I don't plan on moving out of Texas I'm stuck with the plate anyway).

I've also switched my primary Amazon Wish List to a new one I created that's full of stuff for the MINI. Viva la Universal Wish List Button!

This should be my last MINI-less weekend. Ran the truck through a car wash and filled it up with Premium gas on the way home from work. Going to change the oil and add some fuel stabilizer on Sunday... Getting it ready to 'put it in mothballs' in the garage, relegated to trips to Lowes and such.
