Congrats! If you feel the wait is torturing you, if it's any consolation, mine finished production Oct 1 but I will be lucky to get it mid November as it won't catch a boat out to the West Coast until 10/13 and then has a 21 day voyage...so you'll be motoring far in advance of me.

Completion Date 10/10/08

Hi

Ask MINI estimates that the completion date of my CR Clubman is 10/10/08.

Any idea of when it should get on the boat and where it should arrive in USA to be delivered in Tampa FL?

Thanks

Crossing my fingers that I'll be on that same boat! Was told that mine should be to the point of exit by end of week... this waiting is killing me!

Ferman here also. Where are you from Federico?

Kind of amazing with this small group that 3 of us are from Sarasota (me, Floridastyle and SRQminiJCW). I am assuming we all bought from Ferman?
My MA told me their sales were strong and they were in the top 10 for sales.

I originally tried to give my business to Ferman in tampa but my salesman wasnt really helpfull and didnt want to budge on the price of a regular S and he wanted $5k surcharge for the JCW, so that was a joke then contacted downtown mini in Orlando and they were great talked to Mike the sales manager and he gave me a discount on a JCW and floormats so they got my business.
All the guys from Sarasota we should get together once.

That's an outrage. Assuming that this $5K charge was pure markup and did not constitute any actual add-ons I'm glad you decided not to patronize that dealer. Given current demand, I think full MSRP is a reasonable expectation though. FWIW I paid full MSRP for my JCW Clubman from Mini of Annapolis AND I got what had to be the best trade in ever on my absolutely stock '06: I paid $18000 new in December '06 and they gave me $17500!! Based on that trade value I was able to justify the upgrade to the JCW Clubman.

On another issue, is anyone here having problems accessing the Mini Owners Lounge? I've been unable to get in for two weeks now and it is really irritating me. My first call to 866 ASKMINI was never returned and now I'm working on a second round of calls.

I, too, got an awesome (estimated) trade-in value on my '06 MCS which helped justify the upgrade to an '09 MCS.

BTW, the previous URL (https://ol.miniusa.com/oemainlogin.asp) no longer works. If that's the one you've been trying to get to, take off the "oemlogin.asp" part so that you're just going to https://ol.miniusa.com. That's been working fine for me (and continues to do so).

Happy Motoring!

-gadgeTT (soon to be a 2-time MCS owner).

I had a bad first experience with Ferman but it was not over price it was just the MA. My second MA was great.

I was not looking at a JCW but am shocked they wanted a $5k surcharge. There was an '09 JCW on the lot when I was there. No $5k surcharge listed on the window sticker. But there was a bunch of over-priced dealer add-ons (window tint, etc).

No problems here. Use the URL listed above. I have always been able to talk to a customer service rep at 866-ASK-MINI....nearly immediately. Are you calling during their business hours (9a-9p I think)?

They had a problem with their systems yesterday. Went down sometime in the afternoon so the rep said he would call me back when they were up. He called me back twice. First to let me know they were still down and at the end of his shift to let me know that they were still not up.

Thanks all for the OL help. Unfortunately, that was the URL I've been using and I can't get access through three separate computers with three different OS and three different browsers (well, two PCs and my iPhone). It's now been two weeks that i can't get in and I'm really getting frustrated as I'd like to access the rest of the cool OL pages too in addition to the tracking page.

MCS
Those add-ons are huge margin drivers for dealers since they cost very little and they can turn around and ask a lot. If the customer buys without a fuss, then great (for them). If the customer balks they can discount their "retail" price and still turn a tidy profit on that part of the transaction. But we all knew that already! Just chaps me when I see it at a Mini dealer is all.

No computer genius here but I had the same problem accessing the OL at the very beginning. I googled "mini owners lounge" and clicked the link from the list. Worked for me and then bookmarked it.

Amen. Window tint (and basic at that) $399 at Ferman. If they get the car on the lot they will do it, to varying degrees, to every car. I looked at a list of dealer installed options while in the office negotiating. Crazy prices. Driving lights $900 if I remember correctly?

I worked six excruciating weeks as a corporate employee for a certain unnamed national used car dealer (the guys in the blue polo shirts). A central part of their business model was refurb of used cars to "like new" condition, and they kept a cadre of detailers, painters, window tinters, etc. on retainer to do this work. After seeing invoices for the work they did and later seeing how much new car dealers actually charge for it was eye opening.

I don't begrudge a dealer the right to make a reasonable profit on their business, but I DO begrudge them taking away the right for me to choose which, if any, overpriced dealer add-ons I buy or not.

My Clubman S is in production so I'm in the 41 club. I sure hope it gets here by the end of the month. Five more weeks wait as others have mentioned is way too much time. Dan

Paint Shop Today

Hi

Last night I called Ask- MINI and I was told that my car will be at the paint shop today. It should be completed tomorrow or Monday.

I watched the manufacturing process video and it should be completed by the scheduled date.

Have a nice day!

Yes.. one less day of waiting!

Mine is in the Body Shop today and should be in the Paint shop tomorrow. Might still be done on-schedule on 10/11. BTW, I asked both my MA and the ASK MINI guys about the anthracite headliner. Both knew of the problem but claim that my car still shows that it's getting the proper part. (crossing all appendages!). Can't wait.

BTW, is anyone else worried about getting good financing options in light of the current economy?

mrng gadgett.
Between yesterday and today, USAA for example went up from 6.1% to 6.49% (72mos) on new car loans...... it's 5.99% for 60 mos........ i figured it' woudl have dropped a bit or stayed hte same considerig the 'rate' cut...guess everyone is starting to tighten up a bit on how much to lend out versus 'on reserves'....... and USAA is pretty conservative for the most part, so guess I"ll be looking to do my business elsewhere, I'm sure I cna find a local credit uninon here in S.A. for less, Firstmark CU, Randolph Brooks CU... guess we'll see....
Not worried about getting a loan, worried more about the rates and of course whether or not I should still get my car that I wanted, versus a need, and just keep my current car (nothing wrong with it at all...) just to be safe... hearing that Iceland is on the verge of bankruptcy....makes u think a bit y'know
