I haven't heard anything from my MA yet either. The boat (Fidelio) docks tomorrow, so it should be less than a week before delivery. Should I wait until he calls/emails or should I bug him in a few days.
I don't want be a stalker but I want my Stanley before Sept 6 (I have a road trip planned)!

I haven't talked to him since last week, but he was 'fairly certain' based on previous delivery times from port to Omaha that we would have our cars in about a week. I'm thinking positively and planning on a Friday delivery date!

Wow, I hope you're right! I got an email in response to one I sent him, and he said that they were hoping for the last day of the month (Sunday???). I hope it's FRIDAY!!!

I don't believe that's correct. Last known position of the Maersk Wind is/was
N 35°36', W 050°12'. She wouldn't be was as far north as 48 degrees North Latitude. Presently she's on a Southwesterly course headed in the direction of the Sargasso Sea and Bermuda. I'm interested to see if she takes a route through the Florida Straight or takes a southernly course south of Cuba. Furthermore, why is the Maersk Wind stopping in Gavelston? There might be a VDC for Mercedes. but there is not one for BMW or MINI in Texas. is there?

Any of you fellow New Englanders hear anything from your MA's yet? I haven't heard a peep. I actually emailed him this morning, but I don't think he was aware of it's status. He's a nice guy, though, so I don't want to bug him too much... Not to mention, I'm not going to get the car any faster by being a pest.

But anyone hear anything yet?

I found this article which sheds some light on why WW is stopping at Galveston - may not involve BMW or Mercedes at all but rather agricultural / construction equipment and/or used cars....

Here's the link to the article for the specially bored or curious...

I was wondering about that too. Interesting. Maybe taking on cargo for the next stop after Port Hueneme (Yokohama)?

Wish it was going to Port Hueneme non-stop; but can't have everything I suppose...

Yeah I know... the waiting around is really excruciatingly painful for us west coasters, especially when we are hearing about VDC arrivals elsewhere for other week 32'ers...! I can't believe that I'm actually plotting Long/Lat coordinates and tracing Maersk Wind's movement on Google Earth...

Not yet. I might call later today and see if he has any idea when to expect it, and to call me when they get it at the dealer so I can make arrangements to pick it up a day or two after they receive it.

OL still says "En Route" and ASKMINI automated still says "at the port, waiting for a shipping vessel"

Western Highway is unloading at Charleston starting 7am eastern!! Fidelio should be at New York, I have not been able to see actual ships in New York for days, but she should be there right now.

Maersk Wind:
Last reported at 2008-Aug-21 06:00 UTC. Time now 2008-Aug-21 11:30 UTC.
Position N 33°30', W 056°06'.

Caribbean Highway should be nearing the half way mark - running cloaked.

Oops previous post for Maersk Wind was an error - the marvels of clip and paste. Caribbean Highways captain doesn't want to play. He will probably make one or no reports.

Hi week 32'ers!

May I post a tiny suggestion- I wish I had bought an oil change kit when I was at my dealer, picking up the MINI to save me a trip. Different folks suggest different intervals for oil changes, (do a search for OIL CHANGE) but now that my 1,200 mile break in period is over, I'm going to change the oil. So, as you're picking up soon or just have, you might consider thinking ahead to 1,200 miles down the road.
Or, ignore me. I've got time to kill online today

I'm planning on changing my oil after a few hundred miles or so, maybe less. I want to break it in hard and get all the crap out of my engine ASAP. I'll also be glad to put some Royal Purple in.

Woo hoo ... our cars are now on American soil. We're into the home stretch (hopefully a short one). By this time next week, some of us will be driving our new cars. I'm beginning to see the end of the journey ... what a ride it's been!

Not a word... but I am expecting to hear something soon!

Euseys - thanks for the tip! If you don't change your oil yourself, can ANY place that changes oil change it.. or would it HAVE to be your MINI dealer or yourself? I personally can't change my oil don't know how... but I know for sure my darling hubby could!!

twieland - YES! our babies our on American soil/waters!! It's hard for me to wait to my ship reaches GA, (FIVE MORE DAYS!!) when others are already at the VDC!! I won't complain.. it could be worse.. I could be on the west coast waiting!! Hang in there all of you on the west coast!!

Probably all the neat stuff they are putting on your MINI! I wouldn't be surprised if they keep ours for a week min.!

Maybe you will get some by accident!! Either that or it's already on the way to your dealer. The info at OL is alway late, the best I had was 24 hours the worst 5 days on info updates. Cheer up your MINI will be at the dealer soon!! You can always be a little pest and call your MA, I am sure he won't hold it against you.

I hope so. It's only a 4-5 hour ride from the VDC to the dealer, though.

I haven't heard anything from my MA since the last time I called him and had to tell him exactly where my car was... we all knew more than he did. My dealership is just over an hour away from the VDC, and I don't have anything that is being installed at the VDC either! ahhh I'm impatient!

Caribbean Highway thread

Just thought I'd let those of us with MINIs on the C.H. (or who believe our MINI is on that ship) know that a thread has been started.

https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...d.php?t=151402

C.H. due into Charleston, SC next Wednesday, August 27.
