Who knows how long at this point... The optimist in me wants to believe in the stories I've heard about 2 days from VDC to dealer. The pessimist is afraid of the stories I've heard about 2 weeks... I really hope it's before the 28th, though, because I'll have to reapply for my financing if it isn't.

I will choose to be an optimist!

I'll be driving the opposite of a MINI until I pick it up: A 2006 Chevy Silverado. It's a different feeling!

Is it just me - or is this site having issues again? Pages are taking forever to load.
I am having issues too, might be the sight.
Ships this big usually are okay in storms, and know how to go around or approach one.

Just got an email from the dealership:

"It's usually a few days for it to get here and then another day to be
prepped."

Tinker... hope you're safe from the storm.

Can't wait to hear about the cars starting to come in.

I have got to start reading that owner's manual online!! I just got a new riding mower and spent 30 minutes just reading about how to work it before I could go mow...... and it doesn't have keys to program, bluetooth etc!!

Calamante, I've also got a Chevy Silverado 1500 that will be up for sale when the Mini gets here and then my other car that I will still keep will be a Chevy 3500 extended cab dually that I use mostly for towing our horse trailer.... talk about split personality. I'm looking forward to taking a picture of the Mini and Maxi together

'08 Laser Blue/Silver Clubman S etc, etc

I've been putting off reading the owner's manual because for some stupid reason I want to read the real thing when it comes. Half the fun of getting a new toy is reading the manual.

For the record, my car was discharged today from I-II, woohoo!

I've been reading the online manual... I kinda want to spend more time driving, less time finding where the doomberflocky is.

I know where the pedals, steering wheel, gearshift are. That should be enough to get me home.

The OM is simply reading material for later that night when I'm in bed and should be sleeping.

Gotta agree with you. I've looked a little at the OL manual, but it's not like having the real thing in your hands.

I hope not - I like the idea of driving a 'not so common' car!
Yeah, I've been spotting more and more. I hope they don't become the next MUSTANG. Geesh, I see Mustangs on every corner. I saw 5 Minis on the way home yesterday. But not in AB!

There are definitely colors that are more popular than others. I won't say which, but there's a certain color that I almost never see...

Could it be....BRG? I love that color. My Z3 is Boston Green, which is quite similar.

White Rims

I ordered the white crown spoke and now it worries me. I see coopers with a lot of brake dust on their front tires. I have a beemer now and it seems to be a common issue. Does anyone know of a good way to keep them clean besides the obvious just wash em method?

I think Bavarian Autosport sells wheel liners. I was thinking about getting some for my Z3 which has the worst case of brake dust wheels ever! I could wash them EVERY day and they're filthy. I heard that the wheel liners are very effective. They're called Kleen Wheels. HTTP://www.bavauto.com/shop.asp

Looks like Bav Auto only has them for BMW. But this place has them for MINIs: http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/pr...Kleen%20Wheels

Thanks for the link I will definitely keep this as a favorite. Once I get my MCS I will figure out how big a PIA it is to keep em white. But judging from my 3 series and my x5 I probably need em.

Hm, so now that I've hit VDC, am I at the mercy of my dealer to keep me updated with status? I assume OL won't be speedy enough to be useful...

I'm back

Sorry to be out of touch for several days. I was in the mountains of NC with no computer, no cell phone service, no TV, no nothing... just some hiking and pure relaxation. I loved it. I did make it to Asheville, NC one day and saw quite a few MINIs there (not unexpected).

Not exactly sure of Phantom's status... but OL says that my MINI is "en route" and I get no information from WW that I'm on one of their ships... so I hope that I'm on the Caribbean Highway... on it's way to Charleston, SC. I'll post more definitively when I know more. Got to get in touch with my MA.

Congrats to all those whose cars are in port or nearing it.

Independence II in Cheasepeake Bay!!! Western Highway and Fidelio napping at port?

Maersk Wind in the middle of the Atlantic:
Last reported at 2008-Aug-19 12:00 UTC. Time now 2008-Aug-19 18:56 UTC.
Position N 38°24', W 041°54'.

Sent our MA a couple of questions and when he replyed back he said the VDC should have our MINI on the 21st!!!

Tinker stay inside it looks like it's raining! Are you getting any wind? I just looked at Fay and it looks like she is sitting on Florida right now.
