sikamini - if you go there, can you make sure when they load the farm equipment at Galveston that they don't park next to my mini? Oh, it's the Pepper White one....

 

I'll be sure keep those Furgies away from your little MINI, you never know where such a relationship could lead. Next thing you know you'll be taking rides in the country side with a bail of hay on a roof rack!

 

It is so sad that I ordered and canceled TWO cars previously .. as they are BOTH sitting at the dealers now (and have been since Wednesday - the 20th and Friday the 22nd!!) Should have ordered right the first time.. sigh. Both cars were ordered JUST DAYS (3 days) before my car.. and my car was delayed reaching the port and is STILL ON THE BOAT!! boo hoo.. Some of these MINIs go right through the whole process quickly - if I had kept the original orders, I would have ordered, had built and received within 1 month - that's fast! My final order seemed to have a snag in it.. so... I wait I am not more relaxed now.. I am on pins and needles waiting.. feeling stressful again, (for me) like it did while in production!! Probably cause nothing is actually happening now.

Okay - I am going shopping in a bit - gotta pass the time away more!!

 

Yeah, and our Mini is next to the Pepper White. It's Dark Silver with the white top and mirrors. Answers to the name WALL E (the grandkids chose it). Pepper White could EVA?
BTW . . a little off topic while we wait. Are bonnet stripes added at the factory or at the VDC/VPC? If you take a close look at the factory from Google Earth you will notice quite a few with their bonnet stripes.

 

Hmmm. I was told 'racing stripes' ie. the vertical ones coming straight up the bonnet and down the back were done at the dealership, and just assumed that since so many minis are lined up for installations at the VDC the rest were bonnet stripe orders.... but if you see them at the factory on an aerial shot, I'm not sure now. All I know is that I am glad I did not order ANY stripes given the big bottleneck at the Port Hueneme VDC.

 

My understanding is that bonnet stripes are done at the factory. Sport stripes are done at the VDC or the dealer (in my case, the dealer).

 

how is the shipping from the VDC handled? do they try and put all the cars going to a cettain dealership in one truck or do they put them in a truck based on completion of testing at the VDC? I am really hoping it gets here before the end of august but i know thats a long shot. i have probablly already asked this already but i have been a little lost the past week or so.

 

My MA (Cincinnati MINI) tells me that they get several truck loads of cars from the VDC each week. I think he said 3 or 4 trucks during the week and a couple each weekend. Of course, they are getting both MINIs and BMWs on the truck as it is a combined dealership for both cars.

I am not sure how they determine when and how fast the VDC truck the auto's.. but I know that there is a BMW right next door too.

 

Hm, so OL still says my car's at the dealer. My MA told me he'd call me when it arrived, so I'm not going to call and bug him. However, I haven't gotten a call yet. I'm thinking this may be for two reasons:

1- He's been off work and just hasn't been there to see it and call me yet
2- He's waiting until the car is prepped, title is received and it's ready to pick up

I'm thinking it's probably the latter. Anyone else know?

Is your dealership open on Sundays?

Maybe he hasn't called because he hasn't been at work since it was delivered and/or they aren't open today.

My MINI is being delivered to the dealership today but my dealership is closed, so I have to wait for tomorrow for a confirmation call from my MA.

 

Yep, they were open 12-5 today.

 

I'd call first thing in the morning.. I'd be a pest!! If my MA doesn't call.. I'll be sure to pick up the phone and call. I want to know!! Paying good money - and the wait is HARD!!

probably about 36 hours ... + or - until my MINI reaches the VDC! I can only hope it leaves quickly and that once it reaches the dealer - the rally lights and mudflaps are quickly addressed and they call me!!! There is a chance that I *could* have it by the end of the month.. but I am afraid the lights and mudflaps will hold it up.

 

Fidelio is in Charleston! Unloading began at 8am eastern.

 

GREAT NEWS!!! She should reach Brunswick, GA tomorrow!!!!! crossing my fingers that they unload - safely AND quickly.. and that they do whatever they need to do and ship my baby to FL!!

 

Wooo one more day till Fidelio lets our cars get back on dry land. Any idea what time it will arrive and be unloading? I an counting hours already thinking about when it gets here!!

 

My OL was updated yesterday saying the car is now at the VDC with expected delivery date of 8/28! Yay!

I know someone already asked this but I couldn't find it...does the expected delivery date mean delivery to the dealership or delivery to me?

I think dealership, but take it with a grain of salt. On Friday 8/22 mine said expected delivery 8/24. On Saturday 8/23 it said expected delivery 8/22. On Sunday 8/24 it said 8/22 and that it was at the dealer.

In the OL, my status says estimated delivery date of 8/24 (yesterday), but that it is still at the VDC. So clearly one of those things is wrong. My MA said it would be at the dealer tomorrow, but this was after I bugged him via email. He said he would call me when he knew more. I wonder if he will call me tomorrow or if I will have to call him again

 

Yuck, I was sort of thinking mine is the same story. OL does say "At the dealer", though, so I'm not sure.

Anyways, congrats at the car getting to the dealer tomorrow.

 

Okay, finally talked to my MA. He says he thinks the car is at their main receiving place down the street but he hasn't seen it yet. He also said he's hoping to get paperwork for it by tomorrow so they can "start prep work" on it. He wouldn't say much else other than I'll hopefully be in the car by Friday. Ugh, I really hope it doesn't take that long.

On a good note, I can tell my MA is genuinely excited for me.

 

Just talked to my MA and he said that the car should be here by friday. It seems like a really short time to me but if thats true that would be awesome. He said it doesnt really take any time to process either. Once the car gets there I can take it the same day.
