Called this AM about the clear bra. Quoted about the same from 2 places, $460.00 and if it is extended more - +$80.00 They also quoted tinting the windows with a non metallic tint.. claimed it was awesome stuff, and that was $275.00. I asked my MA for prices.. he is going to get back to me on the clear bra, but the window tinting was $350.00 (ouch). I know he will be much higher on the clear bra.

Now about the clear bra... he said they use to always put them on, but they have found that after 3..4 years, they don't look good and need to be replaced. I never have used a clear bra before - and I am torn!! Do you really NEED one.. or is it just for 'peace of mind'??
Congrats tinker!!!!!! I fear stones and chips more, and replacing it is not that hard.

Funny thing is that he said "you can pick it up anyday except tomorrow (thurs.) b/c we have to complete the inspection" Really, I think it is because he is off on Thursdays

can't wait.
Congrats woohoo!!!!

The OL has NOT changed yet - still says 'en-route'. I think it will reach the dealer before it updates!! I called ASKMINI.. and the status says 'your vehicle is at the port, awaiting a shipping vessel' Really... they are using a bar code to scan each move, it surely seems as MINI could integrated this into their systems!! Gee.. we have a much smaller company and our customers order status is updated much more accurate!!

My OL changed this morning, but ASKMINI still says waiting for a shipping vessel. It's hard to believe it would have sat at port for 6 days. I agree, there is something missing in this system. It looks like east coaster are starting to get calls. Maybe we will start to get calls soon too.

Tinker, are you already scheduled to pick up on Saturday?

Didn't get it. I was 3/4 of the long drive there, and my MA called me to tell me that due to some mix-up, there are no plates for me.

"No plates for you!"

So... I am getting my floor mats comp'ed. It's a nice gesture... but I'm so disappointed. Seven weeks of waiting, and fifteen minutes from delivery I get let down.

Yes indeed. We've been able to resume tracking of S6TY. I think (well, it least I'm hoping) that their 18:00 hours tracking information is incorrect. That location puts them only about 50 miles offshore of Galveston at 4:00 p.m. Mountain Daylight Time - or there-a-bouts. If that is true they better get a move on to clear the Yucatan Strait before Gustav.

Sikamini, thx for your tracking information. A couple of those sites were unfamiliar to me . . . .good work!

Oh wow.. that really stinks!! I'd really be so disappointed (that's saying it lightly!) So do you get to pick it up tomorrow?

Sikamini, it's been great fun having you in this group helping us track our ships!!

I got locked in for a good loan rate, but I can only defer first payment for 45 days. Since I don't want to start payments until Nov. 1 (to prevent overlap with my ending lease) I have to wait until September 16 to take delivery. That means my car will likely sit in the show room for about a week.

Just changed today to AT DISTRIBUTION CENTER (it's been there since last Thursday). I haven't called ASK MINI for weeks, so I don't know.

Yes, hopefully tomorrow. Although, I had to jump through hoops to be able to get some time off tomorrow (today was my day off). It stinks.

I also feel bad for the poor MA. It's not the easiest thing to do, calling me to tell me the news. I'm sure it wasn't his fault, but somebody dropped the ball. I still can't believe it... I was just a few exits away when my cell phone rang. My wife said, "Oh, answer it, they probably want to confirm you're on your way!"

Nothing to do now, though... It'll be fine tomorrow.

I just noticed my signature. I was a little premature in changing it. Don't feel like changing it again.

Ouch.

As I was about to hang up from talking to my MA today he mentioned, "So you're taking care of the plates right?" I was like umm...isn't that what you're for? I guess because I'm registering the car in NH but buying it in MA, I had to get my own 20 day tags in NH. Luckily I was able to scoot out of work a little early and stop by a DMV office and pick them up. Now I just have to get my loan check tomorrow afternoon and I'll be motoring by this time tomorrow!

I will definitely be posting pics, but likely only after I have time to give the MINI the whole kit and kaboodle of my new detailing products. It may be a few days, but I will come through!

Woo!!!!!!!!

Well, exciting news for all of you who are about to be united with your new MINIs. Don't forget that some of us are still waiting for our cars to get off the ship... Caribbean Highway expected to dock in Charleston tonight - expect unloading will begin tomorrow morning. We're getting closer!

I think it's the Week 23 group that has over 3000 posts, and I saw one on their thread the other day where someone noticed that we (Week 32) was catching up. I think they are worried... with good reason. We will keep this thread going a long time, I hope.

That's because I started it.

And I'll likely be one of the last Week 32ers to take delivery.

I noticed week 23 had about 3000 posts also but were still about 1000 posts ahead of anyone else and we are 9 weeks behind the week 23ers so there is still time to catch up I emailed my MA but didnt get a response since i believe it was his day off. Is any one getting any accessories free from their dealers other than the usual floor mats. Im hoping to get floor mats a tank of gas and since I was refered by a freind im splitting $100 with them

Is it normal NOT to get a full tank of gas? I guess I was just expecting that...

Not even floor mats from Cincinnati MINI. When I ordered the car the cost of the mats was added to the order. No free stuff from them unless there's something I don't know about. Cost me about $244 to have sport stripes installed at the dealer, too. Needless to say, I declined any other dealer options and accessories. Will buy my mud flaps and have them installed locally (dealer wanted $322 for installed mud flaps). Oh well, at least my MA has been nice to work with so far.

Im not sure if a full tank of gas is standard. This is my second new car but i think the first one came with about a 1/2 tank. That was about 3.5 years ago though so I dont remember too well.

Im excited for everyone begining to pick up their cars already. Remember to take pictures to make the rest of us jelous. I also saw in an other thread that people were posting how many miles the car had when you picked it up. So when you guys start posting pics I think it would be cool to include your mileage too
