Nope we won't forget about all of you West Coasters who are still sailing the high seas. Your Minis took the extended cruise so they could relax and work on their tans.
I'm still trying to decide about warranties... so much of it depends on how long I'll be keeping the car. In the past I usually put about 25K a year on Suburbans, but I should be driving the Mini a lot less. Decisions, decisions!
Anybody going for a vanity plate?
'08 Laser Blue/Silver Clubman S etc etc

Caribbean Highway MINIs
Nice to know that our MINIs are on American soil now (and off the ocean). I would expect that our MINIs will all be at the Greer, SC VDC today or tomorrow at the latest. I plan to call my MA next Tuesday and see what he expects. I don't know if they know in advance when a particular car is being delivered, or if the cars just "show up" on a truck. My MA says they get several truckloads of cars (BMWs and MINIs) from the VDC each week. Anyway, like those of you in St. Louis, I hope to have my car about the end of next week. Oh, I need nothing done at the VDC, but do need to have sport stripes added at the dealer. Hang on... we are beginning the last lap.
I PICKED UP LUIGI THIS MORNING! AHHHHHH FINALLY. I'll post pictures later. Good luck to everyone else!
PS- mine came with a full tank of gas and floor mats, free! Plus a cute cookie shaped like a mini in BRG.

Minilovejoy - CONGRATS!! You are forgiven - FOR NOW.. that you have not posted a picture of little Luigi... but within 7 dates we expect to see our little BGR Luigi !!
Bemmer, I just check the OL - and it JUST changed within the last few hours. It says my car is at the VDC and scheduled for Delivery to the dealer 8/30... however, my MA is expecting it today or tomorrow and getting it ready for us to pick up Sat. or Sun. (I hope Saturday!!) Forget the OL - it is so inaccurate!!!

Thanks for the heads-up Eusey. Lately, we've just been trotting around the track doing our Olympic post-total victory laps.
Gotta keep an eye on those upstarts in week 32.

I find it very interesting that there aren't more people on this thread. Week 32 has 802 postings. Maybe week 33 is a slow one at the assembly plant being a big vacation time with a lot less cars scheduled to be built.

I'm sure it's because week 33'ers are disciplined, patient, and mature. We are smart and have done our homework; we're tracking our builds and are monitoring the shipping lines. Unless there are suprises we are confident that the MINIverse is unfolding in proper order, according to plan.
Nah, I'm not buying it, either.

Another question. I just found out you can transfer your old plates to your new car instead of having to get a temporary plate. The Bureau of Motor Vehicles said be sure the dealer doesn't charge you for the temporary plates, but the dealership said they charge for it whether or not you need it. Can they do that?
Congrats to all getting their cars this week! Look forward to seeing pictures!

This is a blatant bump for our thead!
Huh? A cookie shaped like a mini and in BRG to boot! Is it edible? Please stop motoring for a second and post pics...of the cookie...jk. Congrats!

I am also not sure about the warranties.. I read through the threads and opinions are very mixed. Seems to come down to how much you value peace of mind vs. the likelihood to save $$ ..
The Maersk Wind is somewhere in the Gulf of Mexico. I am looking at the projected path of Gustav and the ship MIGHT be racing to beat it South! This is tension! Seriously though, it's just a car, I hope that the storm passes and Louisiana remains ok!
New to the Forum
We ordered '08 MCSa Pepper white/black mirrors and top. Premium, convenience pkgs, xenon, piano black, chrome-line interior, flame spoke wheels, checkered cloth, black bonnet stripes.
Ordered 7/26
Built 8/10
On Caribbean Highway on 8/14 i think
OL still says "En route," but should be at VDC by now.

Welcom WhiteLightning.. nice color choice!
Plutch.. yes, watching the storm too and pray that somehow it just dies out.... Makes us remember - our MINIs are 'just cars' and very replaceable!
I am very much looking forward to pictures!!! I haven't heard the final pick-up date from my MA yet.. so either Sat. or Sunday as far as I know. I will definitely call him tomorrow for any updates!

How many days is it from now til docking for all of the West Coas t†Mini's that are still partying on the boat?
Also I was curious.... we don't seem to have anyone from ID, MT, UT etc, but is it the Rockies that are the dividing line that means you go to the ports in CA or the East Coast? Are the Omaha cars the farthest west that we've got who docked in GA and SC?

I have my car!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D :D :D :D :D :D
Took about an hour to get squared away at the dealer. Easy enough! The drive back was fun despite the traffic.
Now to go program all my settings n crap!
Good luck to the rest of you in getting your cars ASAP!
