29. Nelzie.....Madison Heights, MI (07/22/08) <---- The date is the completion of the build, right?? CamRun was finished on the 22nd of July.

Here are some pics my wife took as I drove her out of the "delivery bay".

 

No MINI for me this weekend... the plan was for me to drive from Birmingham to Atlanta on Saturday to pick up the MINI, but mycredit union couldn't issue my check without a copy of the MSO... the dealership wouldn't release the MSO until the vehicle arrives (Saturday)... credit union is closed on weekends, thus no MINI for me.

Here's the rundown of my troubles:

Thursday:
-Dealership said vehicle could be delivered Saturday and I can pick-up that same day since I didn't order any dealer add-ons.

-I contact the credit union to get my check, but they need a copy of the MSO from the dealer first.

-I contact the dealer; my MA is out of the office the rest of the week. I speak with the business manager... he can't fax a copy of the MSO until they physically receive the car... ask me to ask the credit union what else they will accept.

-Call my loan officer at the CU... he's left the office for the day. I talk to a manager who says she'll call to the dealer for me.

Friday:
-Call the credit union... loan officer I had been working with has taken the day off. I talk with the manager I spoke to on Thursday; the business manager hasn't returned any of her calls as of 2:30pm...
(FYI, the CU closes at 7:00pm and is closed on weekends)

-I give the office number of the dealership's sales manager to the CU manager.

-I get a call from the CU manager at 6:15pm saying they couldn't work anything out.

No check=no Mini being picked up this weekend

I'd wait until next weekend to pick it up, but my dealership has a policy that any ordered vehicle must be claimed 72 hours after the dealer receives it; otherwise it can be sold. Anyone else run into dealer terms like this?

 

What is an "MSO"? You placed a deposit right? I would think that entitles you to a little more than 72 hours if needed. I would call the sales manager, and if that doesn't work, call the GM. Just tell them your background story. I wish the best of luck to you! I'm sure you'll be driving your new car VERY soon .

 

Nelzie what is the status of your vehicle? At VDC, Dealer, Delivered?

Your dealer is definitely more concerned with the bottom line and not customer service. Hit them hard on the satisfaction survey. Make them show you in writing the 72 hour policy, where they explained that to you when you ordered and your initials or signature to show you understood that policy....which is bogus!!!!

I went through Pentagon Federal Credit Union (open to all) standard 4.5% interest rate. Instant approval or if there are issues, 24 hour decision. All they need is the Dealer name and VIN.

I don't know what a MSO is, but I received a Retail Worksheet signed by the Manager when I ordered Maddie with the out the door price.

 

It still says "En Route".

No change on the OL.

I've been hoping for a change to At VDC by Friday. I'm just in Limbo right now.

 

No word from your MA? Well let's hope you are at the VDC. Your MA should be able to tell you tomorrow.

 

I really don't expect my MA to have interest in actually finding out that information for me... The local dealership really isn't well known for having attentive or "on the ball" MAs.

For example, I had to call several times, email more than three times and fax my order in twice before they accepted and put in my order...

Seriously, if I didn't have this "thing" where I want to keep my money in the state I live in for as long as possible and also this thing where I like to deal with as local as possible, I would have taken my business elsewhere. Next time, I may end up doing that.

Thanks for the tip on PenFed!

When I found out (at the last minute) that MINI Select had a balloon (mine own fault), I was in a jam to get financing set up. I remembered you post about PenFed, so I applied online (after getting a membership) and then the check was being FedEx'd within a few hours! Thoroughly impressed that it took so little time and effort to get this loan!

 

Oops! I was told I was week 29 and had been following the group since. I came across on the Caribbean Highway. I feel lost now... I guess I'll have to go for a drive.

I got real scared today b/c it hailed today, huge hail stones. With any luck my MINI is still in the dealer ship 's shop, my MA said it was in the shop yesterday afternoon, so hopefully.

I don't think you were wrong. I believe my mini came in on Tuesday. The Chili red Clubman on the left is a John Cooper Works!!!! And as of Thrusday was not sold.

Yes I have the yellow w/ Blk stripe, automatic but still nice. Took a road trip to visit my daughter in the Adirondacks... Nice twisty roads.....

I guess I'll find out on Monday what the status is...
I have the armrest already..

I'm thinking window tinting, wheel locks, carpeted maps as a second set
