I spoke with the dealer yesterday, they aren't disagreeing with the fact that it is needed (they have had some other complaints about not having full compatibility), but they have never had them nor given them with the convenience package. They had never even seen it before when I brought the picture in a couple of weeks ago.

So I went back yesterday, he says they spoke to their parts department, and they say they are working on the problem, but the States always has things ahead of us, and maybe in 2009 they will have something. Which is a complete bull**** answer since I told him I have heard of some dealers in Toronto having them in stock. I honestly think he didn't even check. I even told him it is a part MINI offers, how could they not be able to get it, and he doesn't really have an answer for me. It's VERY weird, except for this and the fact that he didn't call the day he received my MINI he's been extremely nice and very informative...maybe they don't want to have to give me a free wire. I don't know. *sigh*

At this point I don't mind paying 100$ for it, I bought this car to do something specific and work a certain way and I miss playing my Ipod in my car.

I'm going to go check up those part numbers, and phone the other dealer in my area see if by giving him the part number he has more information for me. And if he does I'll be going back to my dealer and letting him know in a nice way that he didn't give me accurate information.

I'd phone 866.ask.mini and complain, complain, complain. My dealer gave me the cable when I picked up the Mini in a very matter-of-fact fashion (as she should have).

 

I called a MINI dealer about 20 mins away on the island of Montreal and they told me they could have the part for me as early as tomorrow, and it is 105$ from them too. So now I know my dealer either didn't ask at all, or he just doesn't want to have to possibly give it to me for free.

I then called 1866 DRV MINI, which is the canadian one, and when he looks in the options guides it doesn't specifically say that a cable is supposed to come with either the convenience package or the media connect option. I guess it could be different in the States, maybe with your convenience package you are entitled to getting the wire included.

I called my MA, he seems to be on lunch, I'm calling him back in about 30mins, and I'm going to let him know I'm not pleased with his lying/lack of effort. Hopefully he'll be able to get me a wire, if not I have found it on a bmw parts website for only about 57$. Not sure how much the shipping is yet though, but I would guess it will still come in under the 105$ they are asking for here in Canada.

if you can't get your MA to work things out, let me know. I just called my dealership and spoke with the parts department. If I can get one for you for a better price (than the $105) I will let you know.

Ya gotta have to listen to your ipod. I'm kinda disappointed I cant connect my iphone. :( but that's a different story.

I've got a solution!

So I told my MA about the other dealer being able to get the wire, so he inquired again and phoned me this morning saying it would be 105$. I told him that was absolutely unfair and not right after all the work I did to get information about the BMW piece they knew nothing about, that they will now be able to offer to customers because of me giving them the information.

He has now emailed me back giving me the wire for 42$ and also giving me 20$ off each checkerboard handle I am also ordering, so in essence I am getting the wire for free in a roundabout way, and that's okay with me. At this point I just want my Ipod to work. I have already been a month without it.

Thank you to all of you for helping me out, it gave me the leverage I needed to be able to get a deal on the piece

Glad to see the group is still going. I stayed off the boards for a little bit. I had a minor accident and went into a little funk. July 4th weekend I was parked next to a short brick wall next to the main drag in Ephraim, WI. I wanted to make a u-turn so I cut right a little to get a better angle forgetting the wall was there. I scraped and dented the @#$% out of the passenger door. It goes to the body shop in two weeks for a $1200.00 fix. I still feel like throwing up. Car is still a blast though. I am using the sport button alot these days.

I was driving around today and my wife told me that she was thinking about getting either a Cooper or a Clubman. She doesn't want an S because of the mileage and the power (she's a motorer!). So there maybe a new MINI in our driveway sometime next year...

Right now I'm gonna wait to do mods. I need to save some cash. Then I am going to do lower Elphie and increase the HP. I also want to paint the calipers green (Elphie's fav.). I have a lot of ideas but I want to make sure I've got my finances on order.

 

So far just the chrome. gotta see what it will cost. I hear you on the $$ thing! I'm not big on aftermarket stuff. Don't let that secret get out...I'll prolly be lynched!

I understand not using aftermarket mods. I know there are some out there that are pretty good. I figure that I'll watch this place to see what is good and bad.

As for the rain? We m
ay have had three dry days here in the past month. We went from being in a drought to getting a decent water level. Mowing is a weekly/twice a week ordeal. I wish I could get you some healthy rain.

 

Well, 3-1/2 weeks into owning my Clubman it happened. On the way to work I encountered road debris in the form of flat bed nylon strap tie down assembly (complete with housing, gear, and u-bracket). It had to be 5" in diameter, not including the u-bracket. The car in front of me and the one behind me also found this little road gem. Both lost all their engine oil (one lost radiator fluid), and likely their engines. For some reason, I elected to drive over it with my passenger front tire (was in the middle lane with traffic on both sides and the assembly was in the middle of that lane). Immediately, the TPMS light comes on and the front end starts shaking, so I pulled over as quickly as I could. The tire, rim, tie rod end, control arm, strut, strut bearing, rocker panel cover, rocker panel, and strut tower top all took hits. If it weren't for the Craven STDs, the strut tower top would have needed replacement (note: though the new towers are stronger, spend the money and get the STDs).

Fortunately all ended well, as I got the car back last Saturday - and it's 100% again! Further downsides were the $500 deductible I had to pay since the truck that deposited that little road gem was long gone. Additionally, I had the pleasure of forking over another $50 to file my appeal of the insurance surcharge (my insurance company strongly urged me to do so).
