So, since most businesses keep phone numbers close to the main, i just started adding one number to the last phone number digit.

Finally got someone to pick up. The guy didnt want to talk to me at first since I wasnt a dealer. I explained that I am an impatient person and didnt want to bug the dealer so many times a day and was hoping to call direct.

he grumbled for a second and said, whats the last 7 of your vin. He keyed it in and said, are you getting JCW stuff done to it. I was like yes sir. He said they were working on it as we speak

ok cool, at least that is more info than i had before...

My coworker said my stalking skills are pretty good. *doh

I'm starting to have sneaking suspicions that ALL "dealer" installed work is performed at the VDC and not at the dealer. My stripes were put on by the VDC, so were some other folks. However we paid different prices. This is probably a sweet spot for the dealers, pay a standard contractual rate for the work to be done at BMW facility and milk your customers for your standard labor rates. It would also make sense from BMW/MINI's perspective as it would continue to ensure a standard quality of install for all items in new vehicles. This would potentially solve negative press from poorly done dealer installs which technically wouldn't be MINI's fault but they would be blamed anyway.

Single eight hour shift with 30 minutes for lunch. And you do want it done right don't you?

I do know that if you have things done at the VDC, they are cheaper. I was told having my JCW aerokit installed there would make it cheaper. Probably A LOT cheaper for them haha..

true, but was hoping since they ramped up production at the UK factory to 24/7, that they would do the same at the VDC's. Doesnt that make sense?

More cars coming out of the factory, they would need to compensate..

I know.. i know... i'm just impatient..

That would have been SPFZero. I asked her about her process:

Not exacly a process, I just went to the K-Line website (http://www.kline.com/) and the WW website (http://schedule.2wglobal.com/AppSchedules/), found their schedules page, and combined the info for everything coming out of Southampton.

I called my dealership again and even though it was my MA's day off, he was there and accepted my call, said since he is the sales manager he had to go in anyway and is "always there" anyway he said mine shows still sitting at the port- since last Friday when nothing is being done to it??? Grrr.- anyway he said that he thinks I'll have it before the weekend of the 4th - woo hoo.... getting closer!!! Everyone with cars at the VDC is right though, it's frustrating not being able to track them.

Anyone else planning on getting a bumper protection strip installed at the dealer??? I am but I just saw some online today that you can order in clear - as opposed to black on my PW/PW.... can't be that hard to put on right? A giant sticker?

Sure wish that was the case with my MA. He said he'd call me yesterday within a half hour with the expected date of arrival. Nada! Just tried again and voice mail It is rapidly approaching frustration overload!

All comments pertain to my skill, you all are undoubtedly more gifted than me, but - Two words: Giant Wrinkle. I think that it is dead easy, and would look great the second time I did it.

Yes, I am getting the black bumper protection strip at the boot. My car is BRG and I don't mind the black strip.

Im getting the black strip also. But my car will be black anyways. Clear may look better since it's metallic paint. O well... we'll see.
