As the crow flies we are a mere 5-7 miles from the dealership. I am certain that we will turn that 5-7 miles in to 50 to 70 easy. Gonna go the looooooooooooong and twisty way home.

Its a good thing I have tons of stuff to do in the morning to burn off some nervous energy.

T minus 19hrs 45min and counting...

so i swapped out the intake the other day, and i noticed that if i can work the gas smooth enough not to set off the recirv valve, i get the best MPG. Though it's not hard getting higher than the 22 mpg i'm getting now.

Temporarily, I took an old 3" intake tube and K&N from my pile of integra. Cleaned the K&N, cut it down the intake pipe to fit where the airbox was, cleaned up the edges and interior. then i went to Kragen and got a 3" to 2.5" silicon adapter.

it works fine, but I noticed the mid range torque loss some people have mentioned in the DIY CAI thread, and i think it's increased the lag somewhat. It's also not as fast off the line in regular, again a longer lag before power kicks. In sport mode, it's a rocket so i think there's some settings involved. also, once i'm up to speed on the freeway, its definitely more responsive.

I've got a DDM Street on order, it seemed like a better design to me once i took a look around the engine bay. the DDM retains the lower airbox, whereas the ALTA its removed and the fresh air intake is rerouted. IMO, and i'm not any sort of expert/engineer, but I think retaining the lower portion of the box may be better than rerouting the intake, especially with the new upper portion of the DDM basically keeping the cool air within the original box area. It's really hard to explain my reasoning, it's like having an A/C trying to cool the living room (ALTAs open design) vs the A/C cooling a closet with the door open (DDM). I'm sure someone can prove i'm crazy or wrong.

Anyways, i think both will work roughly the same, it's not like one makes 20whp, and the other makes 15whp. The $100 price difference kind of pushed me over. I could probably fashion someone similar, but i have neither time nor the equipment to bend metal or mill plastic.

Actually, i think this mailbox i saw at home depot might work...

sorry, short post became way too long.

it is quiet in here today, is everyone out motoring, or are you washing your cars like I just did?

Altoid enjoyed his bath and looks nice and shinny. When it cools down later on I will go finish the job, clean the interior, do the windows etc.

hi guys, i'm here waiting for Starey's pics also...

DChaps, I was down at Otto's this morning, service was great, but the Advisor will not be getting a good review from me... My appointment was at 8:30am -I had to make sure I leave my house at quarter after 7 to get there in time not to be late. I got there and the Advisor called in late!!! 2 people ahead of me... we didn't leave there until 11:30. It was supposed to be a 1/2 hour appointment and so i said i would wait... just getting my key programed.
I asked for a car, at that point so we could run out and get breakfast, they said "sorry"!
hum!

wow, thats horrible. The least they could have done was let you borrow a car to go get breakfast. Especially since they have started charging for the coffee upstairs.

Okay, I've got a few pics... My camera is currently broken, so these are just temporary until I get a new one, then there'll be some more quality pics..

Unfortunately, the spot I park in is dirt/gravel. This makes my rubber mats really dirty, thankfully I got the rubber ones and not the carpet ones.

Wheels waxed, check.
Car waxed, check.

Seattle is a lot more hilly then I thought it would be. I'm pretty glad I have hill assist now. I know how to drive stick, but I'm not great at it yet, so it's helping.

Oh my, burbles! Reminds me of the lovely exhaust note from my old 1969 AH Sprite (sheds a tear for missing her). That is a lovely car, hope you have tons of fun!

Congrats to this weekends newest deliveries!
Matt and I cleaned the WHOLE house with our nervous energy. Its TOMORROW. Delivery is tomorrow! We feel guilty about the 7 bags of trash-- cleaned out the files in the office, cleaned out the closets, where did 7 bags come from!!?

We sold our 2002 Peugeot 206 hatchback for $3900, so that goes into the "MINI CROSS EUROPE ROAD TRIP FUND" for our amazing trek across Europe the whole month of September. We move back to USA in April 09, so we ordered them MINI in time for one major road trip.

Its funny, we've already made 6 payments on the loan for the Mini, and we don't even have it yet. I printed the mini pick up checklist, all 5 pages of it, and will fine-tooth-comb-inspect this car. It was on a car carrier truck for a LONG time-- rail from Oxford thru the Chunnel to Mainland Europe, then we can only assume a mix of rail/truck thru Germany, a snip of Austria, all the way down the Italian penninsula, now to the BMW Dealer in Caserta. I CANT WAIT any more!

Is it tomorrow at 9:00am yet?
How about now?
How about now?
now?

HAHAHA
