First PICS - My 2009 JCW
I spent yesterday tooling around.....so far about 150 miles. I let my nephew drive it around the block... big mistake! You could smell the clutch when he got back.
Poor baby.
Here are some pics.

First Wave!!
Finally!
I got my first wave yesterday from a Laser Blue/White with Bonnet Stripes MINI driving on the other lane on my way home. Already saw him from afar and I instantly knew that it was a MINI. As he drew closer I flashed my headlights at him and he waved at me with a big smile and I returned the favor! OMG that felt so good!!
[plus the guy was really cute
. Haha]
It really made my day!

3 days, 280 miles, just under 1/2 tank, 32.7 MPG (that's with getting on it every now and then!) Still the tank that I drove off of the lot with. Just finished waxing him. Holly cow the wheels get NASTY! Got passed by a herse yestarday. Damn break in period! Getting ready to road trip to Eastern TN for a job interview on Tuesday. By the time I get back, should be close to 1200 miles...and then the fun REALLY starts!
OWG, thanks for the wings! You have done an outstanding job keeping this chaos in order. Oh yeah, anyone planning on going to MOTD in April/May. We will be there and I would love to met some of my fellow week 23ers!
I never quite understood the allure of Sparkling Silver until these pictures, it looks fantastic!
Saturday our family leaves on a two week driving trip though Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons. There are some few really nice "twisties" - the Beartooth Gap (WY) and also in the Badlands (SD). The four kids are ages 17-22, so we'll take the JCW and my 99 Acura TL. It'll be a hoot.
Motor on

Hi all,
I work at the Auto Hobby Shop on the Military base here in Naples. So, lucky Matt and Lucky Mystique, she gets a pressure washing almost every day. What on earth are we going to do in a few months when we PCS. (Military speak for moving).
GUESS WHERE we're going......drum roll please..........
S A N D I E G O
I am Canadian, never even lived in the USA for a single day in my life (Tokyo, met Matt, married in Canada, moved to Iceland, moved to Naples, Italy...now San Diego!) Matt was raised in Tampa, Florida.
Tweeckey- I think we might be close enough for car rides together!
Matt will be assigned to the CG-71, Cape St George.
We're moving in April 2009.
So, Who knows about life in San Diego---anyone have any input for a Canuck and her Sailor?
OH, and while we're chatting, I got 2 different quotes for vinyl 3M lettering on the side of the MINI. The word "Mystique" where the S is actually the Cooper S logo. How cool is that? Company 1 wants $170 for 2 doors and has a great proof. Company B wants only $135 and is working on a proof.
Will post photos, but right now, just waiting, waiting, waiting on the mail. Got lots of mini stuff on the way and the damned post is SOOOOO Slow sometimes. Amazon.com gets me stuff in 3-5 days. Everything else? 7-14. Thats why I want Mike from Aesthetic creations to get in gear and make/ship our badges...

San Diego is beautiful. We were never stationed there but I was born and raised in Los Angeles, so I went down there a bit. There's something for everyone there. There are plenty of family friendly activities and there is plenty of nightlife for the grown folk, hehe. The beach is awesome (IMHO), so much so that you might catch the surfing bug! San Diego always seemed a lot more laid back than LA, but they do have one thing in common- traffic!! lol.
And, if you can, try and secure your housing before you get there. Base housing is available (if that is something you are considering), but there can be a long wait list. Call the housing office at the base and have them send you info about the military friendly apartments in the area. Finding what you want before-hand is so much better than paying for a hotel while you search. But, hello? I'm sure you already knew that!
Reldieh,
Thanks for the input. You've made me feel much better! Yaa! Beaches and nighlife! We're just 2 adults and 2 doggies. I think SD will be great.
Emailed Hannah Syfritt from aesthetic creations, dont work again til Wed, so there might be email waiting for me...

12 days and 420 miles. I'm about to fill up for my first new tank of gas since I picked her up -- the display says 37 mpg (90% on highway)! What amazing gas mileage on this car! And such a difference from my old Dodge Durango (which I managed to sell in one day on craigslist - yay!)
Just ordered some Prima products to keep her in shape, too -- we're due for some quality bath time this weekend.

1500 miles, 29 days, new 20% eyebrow yesterday.
Ordered new vanity plate.
Problems unresolved:
1/2 of the dash lights went out yesterday, also still waiting for my dealer to get the scratched up armrest replaced.

Sorry for the long absence, but I wanted to have some time away to get a feel for my new Mini without too much outside influence! After much motoring, here's the scoop:
- Took delivery of Scooter 6-27 at Mini of the Woodlands. They installed the sport stripes and got the car ready in two days. The MA and all involved were fantastic. Time from Order to Delivery was 35 days.
- Miles placed on car: 1100, so the break-in period is practically over.
- Gas mileage: I've been averaging 33.00 miles a gallon per the computer and 31 miles a gallon according to manual calculation. That's with driving 70/30 Highway/City. Highway speeds are typically 70. I've been driving in mostly non-sport mode, so I'm interested to see how Sport Mode affects mileage.
- Scooter's condition: EXCELLENT. I've only had one small issue and that's with the rear view mirror (frame separating from the body of the mirror). Everything else has been fantastic.
- Impressions: More fantastically fun to drive and own than I'd hoped. It's exceeded expectations. Not sure what's up with the J.D. Powers survey. I love this car.
- Mini sightings: seems like I'm seeing more and more every day. About half of the owners will wave or give the "Thumbs up".
Keep on motoring!
