Tweeckey-just logged BACK on to say I can't wait to see pics of Ziggy's "twin." My boyfriend already thinks I am nuts for naming the car, then I tried explaining it has a "twin" on this forum Anyway, have a great week motoring!!!

I was so excited, it was nice to finally meet the faces on the other end of the line I have been dealing with the past 8 weeks.

The Gen. Manager said that the port was going to hold my car an additional 20 days before they could get it on a truck but he complained enough up the chain so they got it last night.

Anyway it was a quick (1 hour todal) painless, fun process picking up the car. I had yet to drive a MINI stick but it wasn't an issue at all, the whole 3 hour ride home I didn't stall once. Shifts nicely. Fun to drive of course.
We made a little "scenic" photo stop on the way through Cleveland. I'll try and get images to attach here, if not they will be in my gallery. Hold on...

Congrats! You deserve it hon you've been through a lot. Enjoy your MINI.

MiniMama you crack me up! I have never been a car washer before either, but I was out there with Jack Jack pulled up under the tree in the front yard last weekend, and I hope to do the same this weekend! (we have a big trip next week, so I might not have time) I hadn't received my DP products yet, so haven't had a chance to see how great they are. I did use the clarity on the windows as soon as the box arrived though! Good stuff IMO.

I guess I didn't understand that slick is a do it anytime cleaner??? That's what I want. I wanna clean those bugs off when I get home instead of at the next wash.

Can't wait to hear what the banana wax does to Maggie! I know she will like it!

I'm with starry! I can't even think about trying to read all of y'alls posts!

My excuse for being gone. . . I've been motoring! I also have been working tons of hours, so I can get my work done before going on vacation for three weeks! So my hello is a goodbye! I'll try to pop in occasionally and see what you all are up to!

Anyone wanna stop by and feed and wash Jack Jack while we are gone?

She drives great, I think i broke the 4k rpm though, i downshifted too many times coming off the freeway. I gotta get used to the steptronic. I dont think i'll be driving her too much, cause she's got no bra and technically, im not insured.

AAAAAARG!
Can you believe THIS??

Ok, so it isnt that bad, but it illustrates how "outside the loop" we are, buying our mini through military car sales, NOT from a proper Mini dealer.

As you might know, we don't Have an MA. We dont even have a MINI dealership. (for better or worse!)

Pentagon car sales works with BMW Italia to sell Minis in Italy to US servicemembers.

So, this morning, our Pentagon car sales guy was supposed to meet Matt at 8:30am to drive to the BMW Caserta (thats a city nearby) office to SEE THE MINI.

You might recall we don't get possession/ inspection/ paperwork until Mon July 21, but the Pentagon car sales guy knows I am ALL ABOUT this Mini, and Im sad and left out because we dont get to check online at either of the Mini Owners Lounge sites- not mini.co.uk not miniusa.com. NEITHER of these have our records. So, the entire time I cannot follow the minutia details of production, delivery, etc etc.

So, this morning was supposed to be special- sorta like what some of us week 23ers have been lucky enuf to do-- before pick up, go see the car, just for a visit.

The guy slept in.
Yep.

there's Matt, 8:30 am on a Saturday, sitting in front of Pentagon Car Sales in Grecignano, Italy, waiting til 9:40am for nothing.

Now, we live in the land of fresh espresso and cappuccino, so it helps that the quality of caffeine is high, but SERIOUSLY, COME ON.

Don't we deserve the same customer care and special feelings that buyers in the US and european buyers in Europe enjoy?

I cant belive he slept in.
So, on the 21st it will be More Special because there's no peeking.

I don't think Im being unreasonable that if you make an appointment, you should keep it. He did apologize, and in the grand scheme, its all okay, but I wanted Matt to be able to peek at his new MINI!

Ciao....

PS. Can we communicate with the folks at a MINI Badge manufacturer to get a bulk load of the WEEK 23 grille badges- if we all dont want to get one, I might drop the cash and just get one for ourselves, but I think we can hit 3,500 posts if we work out a bulk order!!!

So for you new R56 owners, does anyone understand the fuel gauge?

For instance. It took 71 miles from a full tank before the first light turned off. So I figured each mark must be somewhere close to 70 miles.. right?

Wrong. I am now down half way through the tank, and I am about 150 miles off of where I thought I would be. So whats the deal? Is the gauge that inaccurate?

That's pretty much the way our R53 gauge works. It takes forever to get off the mark then somewhere about 1/2 way drops like a stone. We tend to rely more on the OBC than the gauge but have had the car long enough to just know about when we need to fill up.

thanks for the info. I calculated an estimate fuel consumption based on the 70 miles per mark and it said about 42mpg, that would have been awesome. It is looking more so to be around 31mpg. But hell, 31 would be cool by me also.

As soon as I empty the tank I am going to calculate it and find out for sure what I got.

is that what the OBC is telling you or what your calculations are saying?

I really like the B&W "Week 23 '08" badge thats in Tweecky's signature file.
Might we vote to see who likes which, and if anyone is interested in whichever badge we decide, I volunteer to spearhead the effort to purchase and send out badges. Paypal first, badge in the mail second. Just like on ebay...except with WEEK 23 badges. I only have access to US Post, though, being overseas on a base. So, the mail would take some time...
Any thoughts?

Congratz!

Thanks everyone, i just finished putting a coat of Hydro on. After the clear bra gets put on, she'll get a coat of Epic.

I think we can work out a time/place. I do have to say that's it rather rough, maybe its the sport susp adding roughness, it's pretty close to where my Acura is. I'd like to swap out the rims with what's on my Acura now cause those have regular tires and not run flats.

Thanks, I didn't orders stripes because I want the clear bra first, and i'm getting ghost stripes from mightystripes put on later. I think once the stripes and tint is on, she'll look like she's wearing an evening gown.

i've got it at 35 per tick. ODB has me at 17mpg right now.
I've really been enjoying the turbo kicking in.

it really does, there was one with almost the same options as mine (6spd though) sitting on the lot waiting for a pickup next week, and it look GREAT. I did have a but of color remorse after seeing that one.
