Hey W23 folks, guess who is breaking out of their break-in period this weekend? I'm driving down the DChap and gemgirl territory for a weekend at the beach and that will put me well over 1200! Yee haw!

Alright- we're back!!!!
Boyfriend and I woke up at 5:30 this morning, left by 6:15 and we at the dealer in Ohio (via Buttercup) at 9:30.

THE CAR IS MINE!!!!!

I was so excited, it was nice to finally meet the faces on the other end of the line I have been dealing with the past 8 weeks.

The Gen. Manager said that the port was going to hold my car an additional 20 days before they could get it on a truck but he complained enough up the chain so they got it last night.

Anyway it was a quick (1 hour todal) painless, fun process picking up the car. I had yet to drive a MINI stick but it wasn't an issue at all, the whole 3 hour ride home I didn't stall once. Shifts nicely. Fun to drive of course.
We made a little "scenic" photo stop on the way through Cleveland. I'll try and get images to attach here, if not they will be in my gallery. Hold on...

Is anyone able to view the photos? They don't show up correctly for me :(

Anyway I also had decided on a name for my MINI on the way home...

It is... Ziggy

2 reasons:
1) the whole MINI Zig, Zag, Zug thing and mine is obviously a "Zig"

and 2) Ziggy Stardust... I think my MINI was partying a bit too hard on the "cruise" over and ended up in the wrong port etc.... so I feel Ziggy works well. Plus he (David Bowie) and the car are pretty androgonus.

Thank you phxsteele!

I am going to go take a nap now. It's been a long morning/afternoon. I felt like a kid on Christmas just like other motorers mentioned.

Congrats on Ziggy!! He's elegant! Finally, your dilemma is over. Now go take your nap and get your well-deserved rest so you're energized for your next Motoring! Have fun!

Hey Zoned...

I just hit 1200 miles yesterday. I actually missed it and looked at the Odometer at 1207. I immediately hit the Sport button, downshifted and took off like a bat outta he11. (Good thing I was on a highway at the time!)

My, he can sure fly!

Hey dance, nice pix! Enjoy the trip! And Ziggy is the perfect name!

And now.....drum roll please.....I just got a call that my Mini has (FINALLY!!!) arrived at the dealership (after 21 days at the VDC)!!! And better yet, my MA inspected it and said he can't see any sign of a repair anywhere. I have to wait until Tuesday to pick it up due to some title paperwork delays (I'm buying in MA but registering it in ME) but I should have it tucked safely in my driveway Tuesday night!!! Can't wait!!

Dance - Congrats girl ... "what a long, strange trip it's been."

I get to take Oliver out again this weekend. It's been so rough, but we actually bought him AND another car at the same time, and the other car got the "commuter" designation, so he sits in the garage all week wimpering. (Or is that me?)

I've already signed up for the first available DE after I take the bar exam and I'm starting on ordering blackout bits from Lyle and contemplating a joey mod. The fever has taken hold ... motor on!!!

Oh, and I really think we need to hit at leat 3500 posts and 50K views before eveyone's car is delivered and we go our separate ways. Although, I will promise that I will do my best to stay in touch with everyone, just like I did with all those "friends for life" I made during two weeks at summer camp in junior high. Oh wait.....

I've been thinking about having someone design a custom badge for the breakin period... 1200 Miles, 4500 RPM, 90 MPH... (or something like that)

Woo Hoo, Congratulatons! Did Ziggy and Buttercup get a chance to meet before you left the dealer?

Yuko is home!
Everything went great, turned down all the packages, but I think i should've taken the lojack offer. I think i was supposed to sign the check too, but they didn't ask me to, so i think i'll call tomorrow make sure.

She drives great, I think i broke the 4k rpm though, i downshifted too many times coming off the freeway. I gotta get used to the steptronic. I dont think i'll be driving her too much, cause she's got no bra and technically, im not insured.

Come on, post up people.
Our MINI has been in motion every minute the sun is up - and a good amount of time after dark, too. It's hard to take pictures when the car just WON'T stay still! Honest!

Krim- great looking MINI!

Thanks for the congrats everyone! I can't wait to motor more, gonna go out for a quick drive in a minute before I finish packing.

My, this has already been a busy weekend for lots of Motor-ers.

richs- congrats on the 1200 mile mark! That is a lardmark in the MINI life!

spzero- I pulled into the dealership and parked Buttercup outside the front door in an empty space then when they pulled Ziggy around he/she/it was parked right behind Buttercup so yes I suppose they did get to meet

OWG as always, thanks for being such a great asset to this group- we couldn't do it without you!

And now folks, I hate to do this but I really must sign off for the night and probably won't be able to log back on until next week since I think I'll be in a rather ....errr... rustic internet free zone. I really will be thinking of all of you though, this group really is awesome. Have a great week!! I'll be anxiously awaiting a glipse of more arrivals of Week 23 MINI's.

Everyone have fun and Motor safe!!!!
