Been out all day motoring and loving it. Had to stop at Mini today b/c my bonnet twists when it's opened and one of the lights got scratched by a clip on the bonnet....my MA and the head SM (at Prestige) took a look and are going to take care of it so I'm happy with the service at Prestige thus far.

Here's a few pics. I've only debadged, tinted at 20% since 15% looked way dark with the dark interior (makes a big difference), replaced the antenna with the stub and put on the JCW grill. Next on the agenda is blacking out the beltline and possibly blacking out the headlight rings and grill trim....we'll see!

I can only hope the VDC's repair shop can replicate the factory quality for paint, fit, and finish. Does anyone have info on how accurately the VDC repair shops can match factory production? This is a major bummer, since my excitement about this car is rapidly fading to disappointment. I hope that will change when I actually see it.
That sucks.

As for the VDC's capabilities, here's an article about the Port Hueneme VDC (California, but you'll get the idea). https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ad.php?t=21112

Altoids door got touched up today, the detail department had to give it a shot and fix it in house before taking further steps. So I have to go look at it tomorrow night after work. I am fairly sure that I will tell them to send Al to the body shop and have it done right.

As for the justacoop convertible that I have, wow it is a way different car to mine.

Well, we went out for a drive this afternoon so he needs a bath (quite dusty here), but here are some new photos (top down). I really love the WhiteSilver color, its definitely different from anything else I've seen!

Oooh are you thinking of doing the joey mod? I am thinking about that myself....I really like the look, but am afraid of some of the process....Think I would have to buy second set of headlights just in case something was to go wrong...

I would love to Joey-Mod it but would like to know the long term side effects....i.e. seal breaking - paint heating up too hot and chipping thus needing to be repainted.....

idk I guess I'll have to find out what it would cost to replace those lights first before deciding to stick them in the oven!

Ok explain the "way different car" statement. I don't know and I need to know, my MA did tell me that there are standard in the convertibles that are options in the hardtop. I wouldn't know, So with this said, good or bad please tell me what you see different.

hum.. looks like they might be around $330.. Moss Mini has some Halo LED Projector Headlights that are already blacked out... though if I read the description properly they are not for the '08 hatchback, only convertibles... but I am sure the others will be available soon....

HAHA, the justacoop convertiable is not the same car by a long shot. Slow, automatic, it must have had a rough life because after 3,500 miles the clutch/gearbox are slipping haha. It is fun to drive and histerical how bad it is right now. It needs some TLC.

I'd imagine he called it a completely different car because it is. His hardtop is a R56 S and his loaner is a convertible R53 Cooper. They have completely different engines, suspensions, chassis and bodies. The R56 convertible isn't out till the beginning of next year. gemgirlpa you're genuinely scaring me, you are aware that the convertible you bought is a totally different (earlier) version of the MINI than the hardtop currently available right?

Nicely done, and congratulations on your gorgeous MINI by the way. I'm with the others the white/silver is a genuinely unique and beautiful colour.
