Maybe the captain and the crew decided to unload all the MINIs and DRIVE across Panama.

 

maybe the MINIs aboard the turandot are being used for drug trafficking.
and who knows...if they ever recover the vehicles, maybe there will be some souvenirs left inside the MINIs. and THAT will be better than anything some adventure field kit will ever give you.

 

I've got 210 on Blackjack already. He had 2 miles on him when I took delivery Monday evening. I am still babying him. Only 1000 more miles!

 

To all those aboard the Turandot... I know that the tracking of it has become unavailable as it is relatively close to shore. However there is a program that one can join for free that allows you to have a relatively good idea of its position based on average speed (I guesstimated 16nm/hr) and on its route. The program also provides a countdown screen that one can run. The program is called "Netpas Distance 2.5". If I was at all computer savy I would be able to attach it to this message. As I have it the Turandot is presently cruising off the Mexican Coast.

 

How about cars that were on Independence II any updates? I haven't heard anything yet.

I'm starting to think I may be in for a repeat of my R53 experience. Waiting for it to pop up at the VDC when all of the sudden I get word it's already at the dealership.

whats the situation on you four?....

 

So, how long does it typically take from the boat to the VDC to the dealership? I was thinking I might take next Thurs & Fri off so I could drive Ollie around and around. But I'm hearing I'm being too opptimistic.

He only has to go from Port Hueneme to LA. What do you guys think/what have you heard?

 

The short answer is ... Longer than you'd like. I'm in NJ - my dealer is 6 miles from the VDC, and the VDC is a mere 25-30 miles from the port. What can really hold things up is the availability of trucks to carry the cars around, from port to vdc, and then vdc to dealer. And ... if your MA has a day off that you might have otherwise gotten delivery on - well you will lose that day too.

Expect that from the time that your ship hits port that you will wait AT LEAST one full week more, more likely 9-10 calendar days from ship being docked.

 

My MA told me that it could take up anywhere from 1-2 weeks from the VDC to the dealer

Is there any West Coasters that is picking up from O.C. (Crevier-Santa Ana)?

 

they are probably way too excited driving their MINIs right now they forgot to log back on and tell us... probably won't hear from them for the next week or so is my guess...

Wonders never cease! Owner's Lounge says my MC is at the VDC! So, I'm guessing I'm a shoe-in for next weekend.

 

thats great to hear, danhen! of course if the OL told you that, it was probably there like 4 (maybe 5) days ago. so maybe you'll see your MINI sooner than you think....

 

OL's telling me the same now! Of course, it's the OL, so our MINIs probably already came and went. My MA thinks delivery sometime mid-late next week!

Just an update on progress of Turandot. Currently at tip of Baja. On schedule to arrive early am 5/19 in Port HBueneme. Excitement builds...

 

OL is saying my MINI is at the distribution center but it also says EDA is 5/17/2008. My dealer is in Okla. and I am in Amarillo. Hope it is ready by Weds.!!!!

 

Mine says it's due for delivery tomorrow, but so far as I know from MA, it's not here yet. No matter...I can't get there until next Saturday anyway.

 

Here's my new Clubbie. Named him Bruzer. He arrived a week ago yesterday (Washington, D.C. area). I would have taken pictures sooner, but my camera met an untimely end during an unfortunate kayaking incident. I love this car!! The only problem I'm having is finding the right cable for my old iPod shuffle. I may have to invest in a new iPod. And have to figure out how to take pictures and copy them in the right format so that I can post more.

 

Talked to MA couple of hours ago. He said my car is supposed to be delivered today in Naperville. Will be ready for pickup by Wednesday at the latest. He is calling on Monday to set up the time. Can't wait!!!
