Seems a bit odd since I didn't see any week 48 group, but since I was told by my MA that my mcs was slated for week 49, figure why not get this thread started?

Any other "49ers" out there to help console me while I wait for my lightning blue baby?

 

So you got into week 49? I figured the 07 builds would end after week 47 or week 48. I'm week 46, but welcome.

 

My car is in production now and is scheduled for completion on 12/03. Would I be considered week 49 or 50?

 

I'm no expert, but I'd think the week # is based on the start of production. Mine is slated for completion on 12/04 and we're in the middle of week 49. Either way if you're as anxious as I am, it really doesn't matter what week it is, it's taking too freakin' long

What is your build?

Mine's an 08' lightning blue mcs on top and bottom.

I ordered an '08 MC in nightfire red on top and bottom. I understand your frustrations on the wait! Luckily for myself, my significant other just bought a new '07 MC one week ago, so I can at least ride in one until mine arrives.

 

I'm just curious... When have your dealerships estimated delivery of your cars? I've been told the first week of January.

 

Guys week 49 begins this Sunday 12/2/07. It is a 2008 model production week, the first of the '08s. i believe that this week week 48 was the last '07 production week.

I'm fairly certain that I will be week 49 as well.

I assume you mean 12/04/07? If so, that is next week, week 49.

 

Sorry - yeah 12/4 (corrected). So the week of the car indicates the week of production completion?

 

The week the car is completed is the week production number. Week 48 (this week) was still an 07 completion week. I'm sure they started production or got stuff ready for the '08s in the line this week, but none of them will be completed till next week. My MA told me that the first week of December was when the '08s would begin production.

Edit: I just called the 866-Ask-MINI number to track my vehicle and it said my vehicle was in production and scheduled to be done on 12/04/07. Seems to be the same as yours. Ours might be buddies or roomies on the ship.

 

I talked to a very helpful ask mini person and she told me that my car is planned to be part of week 49, but they don't have an official date for me yet.

I'm very happy to hear that production of the 2008's is starting soon!

I ordered mine this afternoon and the dealer told me it will be a week 49 build. He said I would have a specific date shortly. I believe he said that he had an 08 built for a customer this week which would mean we will be the second week of 08 production.

It just amazes me how quickly they can get these cars built and delivered from Europe. I have an 08 Corvette that was picked up for production from the dealer on 11/15, isn't scheduled to be built until the week of 12/17 and isn't anticipated to be at the dealer until the mid or end of January. They are built in Bowling Green, Kentucky which is only 8.5 hours from where I live in North Carolina.

I ordered the Mini 2 weeks after and it will probably be here 2 weeks earlier! I will tell you that after driving the S at the dealership, my wife and I will be fighting to drive it. The looser will get stuck with the 08 Corvette convertible.

 

I called this evening and was told that my 08 is in the paint shop and due to be completed on 12/03....yes 2007.

 

Other than the compositions and prices of the packages, does anyone know of any other differences between the 07 and 08 models? I'm under the impression that there is no difference. In fact, I liked the 07 sports package far more than the current!

 

I must belong here, with you guys. 866-Ask-MINI said my '08 went into production today.

 

Hello Group! Count me in for week 49. This is MUCH quicker than waiting for my Atom!

 

Here are the changes for '08
Auto up driver's side window
Mirrors powerfold in cold weather package
Supposedly, the TPMS is different from even the late '07 models.
Should include all the changes from the '07 models week 32 onwards, such as the cruise control display, dsc/sport on/off display, etc.

Since our Minis are being completed next week, I think a lot of them should get on the boat next Friday or Sat. They'll probably be enjoying the all you can buffet on the cruise ship next week by this time.

 

Ah finally the week 49 bretheren are coming together. Yes I'm sure our r56s are gonna be partying it up on that boatride over.

bottoz: ARIEL atom?!?! That is one wicked ride! I only ever saw it on Top Gear.

 

I just got an email from my dealer saying that my estimated production date is 12/6. He won't be back at the dealer until Monday.

Does any one know if that means they start building the car then, or they finish it then?
