Nice! Mine is at the port of departure. It's going to be on a boat named "FAUST" scheduled to hit the port in NY on Dec. 12! I just followed step #4 on this thread: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ad.php?t=70301

Attention! I just got off the phone with our dealer making changes to our order. (Keep in mind that we were in week 49 and already in production) He said that the factory is shutting down for two weeks after week 49 before starting production of 08s.

So, if you are week 49 you may or may not get an 08.

We are all week 49 and most of our cars are already in production or completed production. I don't think your dealer is correct as our cars are all 2008 models.

According to the automated part of Ask Mini, my car is in transport to the port of exit. My VIN isn't registered on cargo tracking just yet, so I wonder if my car will be on the same ship as your, realblanka?

And according to my specs both from the dealer and what is showing online, my car is an 08 model. If anyone hears anything to the contrary, please let us know. Thanks.

Seeing as how there doesn't seem to be a "Week 48 Support Group", I wonder if that was the week that the factory "shut down". Unless my MA is pulling a fast one, I'm gettin' an '08.

When I called ask-mini, they said my car was at the dock. Perhaps yours is on it's way? Either way, you'll find out soon enuff

I'm worried now that we're not getting true 2008 models. Are we just getting 2007 ones that are being labeled as 2008 models? Are we not going to have all the 2008 features such as auto-up window, new TPMS, etc?

My dealer informed me that it might be a couple of weeks before I get a production number. But, before the problems in our order I was under the impression that I would be getting an 08 built in week 49.

Very confusing. It doesn't seem like they would need to shut anything down for very long. Unless they are tooling up for the Clubman...

My production date is 12/6. The "Track your baby" section of the owners lounge says "The current status of your 2008 Laser Blue metallic paint Cooper S is - scheduled for production.

So the web site is saying 08's are being buillt this week. As stated by others, I hope we get all of the 08 features.

Assuming I have all the vessels listed, we have a few options:
The Tasco sails on December 10
The Madame Butterfly sails on December 17
The Don Juan sails on December 30.

Anybody willing to lay wagers? I'm hoping for the Madame Butterfly...Thoughts.

Hmm... what's the manufacturing sequence? Paint, Assembly, _____? For the past few days, the automated 866-ask-MINI said that mine is gonna be done tomorrow, the 5th. I just called, and the automated system said that it's in the Paint Shop, with an estimated completion date of the 5th. I thought paint was first, not last. Either way, progress makes me happy.

Automated Ask MINI had my car in route to the dock, but a live conversation confirmed that it has been at the dock since earlier today. It was completed on the the 2nd, and arrived on the 4th. I'm assuming it will take a little while before it registers with the cargo company's website.

Supermodsquad, regarding your dealership... Are you going through the OK City dealer? If so, I have a friend that was told the same thing by a guy at that dealership. We both decided to go with Roadshow in Memphis, and I'm glad such a decision was made. The guys at Roadshow have mentioned nothing of a two week break in production. It seems it would be in their best interests to let us know that we are paying 08 prices for 07 cars. I also find it hard to believe MINI would label 07 cars as 08 on their website. That would surely turn around and quickly bite them in the a**! MINI buyers seem to be VERY informed as to what they are purchasing.

I can't imagine a two week delay. In the WhiteRoofRadio podcast #189, the Quality and Engineering Director for MINI, Colin, said that a change in the process doesn't matter. The quality will be the same and there's no reason the the machine should slow. MINI pumps out 700-800 MINIs a day, 24/7. Do you think MINI would stop the process for two weeks, delaying the delivery of 11,200 cars?

The year and model are tied to the VIN also aren't they? That should confirm that we have 08s. This is stupid. I don't wanna have to worry that BMW/Mini is swapping years on us. We'll find out in due time.

Plasmo, our cars are probably both gonna be on the Faust given the fact that we're both on the dock and I was able to find mine on their site and ... the boat departs tomorrow

I'm not showing up on the WW site either, but I'm not giving up hope that it will ship tomorrow. Besides, if it doesn't ship on the Faust, there are several other ships leaving from that port within the next several days.

Look at your VIN. If the fifth numeric digit is an 8 the MINI is an '08. If that fifth numeric digit is a 7 its an '07. That should determine the MSRP. Look at it this way. Five years from now what will the dollar value of a an '08 MINI built in week 49 be, compared to an '07 MINI built in week 48. And, what will the be actual difference of the two vehicles. I gave my dealer my deposit on Aug 30 and asked specifically for an early December build.

Finished completion on the second with a "fifth numeric digit" of 8. I guess that answers the questions.

Mine is listed as on 08 on the site w/ an 07 vin according to what you mentioned above. Meh.

Well, that certainly throws things back into the air! Great! Someone should just call and talk to a person regarding this question. I'll do it as soon as I get a chance. If you do hear any information, please post it here for us to see. Thanks.

I just reread the thread from the beginning and noticed "realblanka" called us "49ers". I guess that is what we are, but realize how difficult it is for a Packer fan to be called that. My wife's car is a yellow Thunderbird and now my BRG MINI parked next to it will look so nice in the garage.

Confirmed my VIN is an '08. Thx. for the tip Heilige.

SD929, sure the 5th number is a 7? It's the 10th digit in my VIN. If so, you should call your dealership/ask-mini and inquire/gripe about this first thing.
