Yup, the lights that go in front of the grill are driving lights. My dealer charges $900+ to install them when they quoted 725 (cream color line adds $45 evidently) for port install! They most definitely can be installed at the port!
Curious ..
Are we talking about the lights they can put on the front grill? If so .. is it a VDC optional install?
My MA told me point blank that the dealership had to install the lights. If they're installed at the VDC I would love to save the $$$. I have no problem calling them up and chewing some ears.

My dealer told me initially that it had to be done at the dealership too but I had expressed my concern about dealer labor charges that appear to be exaggerated and I told my MA about people complaining on discussion forums about dealership accessories and the labor charges tacked on that were higher than they should be.
I later got a call this evening from my MA that my expensive accessories can be done at the VDC.
My feeling is they know it can be done at the dealers request...but this is clearly a way for the dealerships to make some extra cash with these labor charges and markups.
Greetings fellow Motorers! I've been posting mainly in the Week 47 group, but since my car is on a boat, maybe its supposed to be Week 46. Either way, the OL says my car is "En Route to the VDC" but it looks like its not on a W-W ship, as nothing comes up when I enter the VIN on their site. Any other west coasters have a car on a ship? If so, which one, and if its not W-W, how are you tracking it? Thanks in advance!
Curious ..

I made a quick check on my car's status before heading out to dinner today. I'm now officially 'En Route'! Woot!
They can indeed install them at the VDC. If they're charging you more than $680 to install them (or $700something if you have a non-standard color line) then I'd call up your MA and make some serious noise.

Yup, we're probably on the K-Line boat due at the end of the month (29th for Charleston)! The OL says I'm en route also!
For anyone who might be interested. I have plotted the current progress of the Maersk Wind using Google Maps. It's basically the same thing as the http://www.sailwx.info site, but I like being able to pan and zoom.

UPDATE: Use this link instead. It's better and automatically updated.

Does it update automatically?
Hey, I was wondering if that google maps thing you did updates on its own, or do you go in and update it manually? Since my car is on that boat too, I'm following right along with you. Plus, since you are in San Diego, I suppose there is a decent chance that your car is also going through Brecht (but maybe not). What did you order? I don't see any specs on your car anywhere.

sam0u8, I'm with you. No info for a week. I'm still "awaiting transport" in the OL. It's been a week. I'm hoping I'm on a mystery ship and the OL is just slow. Still waiting...
+1 that the driving lights can be installed at the VDC. That's what I'm doing. My MA is saving me some $

No, it doesn't do anything automatic. I've just been wanting to try out some things with google maps and thought this was, at least, a data set that I was interested in. I thought it was cool what some people were doing with the maps during the recent fires and wanted to play with it.
I was thinking about writing a program to grab the export file and automatically update the map, but I'm too busy with the paid programming work right now to put in time on something silly for myself.
I did order my car through Brecht. It is an astro black/ white roof MCS with sport package, sport suspension (not hyper sport package), piano black interior, anthracite headliner, and web spoke sport wheels. I think that's about it.

We are Production week 46 also. The Mini (dark silver Metalic, loaded) has been sitting at the port of exit forever (it seems), since the 16th of November. How long does it really take to ship one. Only takes 4/5 days to make one but shipping takes forever. Production began on Nov 12 and was at the port of exit on the 16th! NJP

Well I spoke to my MA and it looks like I'm on a K-Line ship that left on Nov 23rd and is set to arrive in Charleston on Dec 6th!
FYI, this ship also makes a stop in Baltimore on Dec 4th.

This stinks...my ship, Otello has been delayed by one day. On the http://schedule.2wglobal.com/AppTrac...trackType=Auto
web site...arrival to Halifax port has changed from today to tomorrow and now won't hit NY until Nov 30th instead of the 29th.
I wonder if a storm is around that area.
