My Mini will be on US soil in 2 days!!

 

Our Mini has docked in Charleston SC as of Tuesday the 4th, 2007. I guess it will be railed to Greenville to the BMW dealer then trucked the rest of the way!.

Caribbean Highway actually leaves Charleston SC on the 5th (wed) at 8PM. These ships are better than the airlines!

Well, I never was able to figure out exactly which Untrackable Ship Of Doom I was on, but it's moot now! That's right - (according to the Owner's Lounge) my car's at the V-D-C bay-bee!

I guess I should think about getting approved for a loan, and selling my current car. Boy, that sounds soooo exciting.

 

Yeah, making sure you have the money to pick up your baby when it is ready might not be a bad idea!

Congratulations! Mine should be at the VDC on this coast in a few days. Woot!

 

Yep, I got my loan yesterday, my MA said the car should be in sometime this week. I'm guessing next week though.

Only a few days more of waiting for the West Coast folks on the Maersk Wind. The WW site says she'll make port on the 9th. I called my MA today to talk about a few things, and he mentioned that according to his schedule it's supposed to arrive on the 8th. Guess we'll see. Just eyeballing the distance covered on the sailwx site, she looks like she might be in port on the 9th, not sure about the 8th.

Anyway, hope you're all getting excited to see your cars, we obviously have a small layover at the VDC (Please VDC .. please don't crush my vehicle), then it's on a truck to the dealers. Pretty exciting stuff!

Who else has got a car debarking at Port Hueneme and where will it make it's home? Mine will live here in San Diego and I'll take delivery at Brecht Mini. I think Will is down here with me, right?

 

I sure am! I called Brecht today and talked to Shawn/Sean to get a couple of questions answered. Our cars are so close! I hope these big waves don't mess anything up. It'd be cool if the Maersk Wind was close enough to SD to see it go by (and it sucks that it has to go by at all, but oh well).

 

For those of us awaiting Caribbean Highway, she docked at the Port of Charleston Union Pier Terminal this morning (6 DEC) at 12:45 am!

I just checked the OL and mine's at the distribution center also. Of course, I already figured that since I know the boat arrived last Thurs/Fri and I highly doubted it takes a week to get on a train and travel the couple hundred miles it had to go from Charleston to Greer, SC. This means that my car is closer to me now than it will be when it reaches the dealership! hehe Oh well. Since I'm getting the driving lights installed at the VDC, it's probably going to be the end of next week at the earliest and could be as late a week from this coming Monday or Tuesday. All I know is I'm really excited now and can hardly wait for it!

I just checked the Order Detail and it says estimated delivery of 12/08 (Saturday!?!) so that gives me a little hope that the dealership will get it then and it will be ready for delivery to me when I want it, which is next Friday! Yay!

 

73% on the savings update. Does that mean you're just gonna get 3/4 of the car? I know its small and all, but its still a whole car!

 

Nah, I'll have it all, it's just not all in my savings account at the moment. What part I don't have, I should get today and also a little more next week. I'll get a large chunk of the DP when I get the check for my current car next week!

 

That's awesome that you've got enough to pay for it up front! I'm a bit jealous.

That was always my plan, but I got a little impatient (and was worried that if I waited much longer I'd have to put a lot of money into my current car in the meantime). So now it looks like I'll have about six months of car loan, which is still not too bad.

 

Mine's still listed as being at the VDC as well (we seem to be about on the same schedule), but I'd emailed my MA with some questions and he says they're expecting it to come in on their trucks tomorrow (Saturday)! Holy carp, that's soon! I was expecting to have to wait at least until next week to hit the dealer. (Though I am a little peeved that he never actually let me know that it was this close. The level of communication seems to have definitely fallen off as of late.) He says I should be able to take delivery late next week!

Next week! Wow, that's soon! (Though oddly enough, exactly what was estimated. Oh, me of little faith.)

It's really time to stop procrastinating about going to the bank and selling my current car.

 

I take delivery at the end of next week!!! The dealership is putting the accessories on it as of today!!!

My MA has no clue when they will ship my mini from the VDC...so since she is clueless, i'm clueless.

 

Are you having anything installed at the VDC? I would guess yours should be ready pretty soon. Plus you're relatively closer to the VDC, so that might shave a travel day.

Wow, that's a lot of JCW goodness! I guess that'll add a bit to the time at the VDC.

 

Got an email response back from my Sales Manager today. He says my VDC installs "should add roughly 10 days to the process." I sure hope he's wrong; that seems like a long time for the JCW aero kit, some sport stripes and the iPod adaptor!

 

It seems long, but for all that stuff, I wouldn't be surprised. My MA quoted me basically an extra week since I was having the driving lights put on at the VDC. :( I need to give him a call to see what they're thinking my delivery date will be. I really hope it can be done by Friday!

 

Painting the aero kit might be what's adding most of the time.
