All Aboard the BOHEME!!
*ready for camera duty* Or to help with camera duty anyway!
Question though...evidently I stink at geography. ncarolyn said it it scheduled to stop in Manzanillo prior to going through the Canal? Where's Manzanillo? The only ones I know of are either in Cuba (which we passed a while back) or on the west side of the Canal (in Mexico and Costa Rica). Can anyone help me on that?

Gosh! It's getting close! Yeah! The ship is still scheduled to stop at Manzanillo on 8/31. I guess they'll load or unload some stuff there, then get into line for the canal.? So I'm guessing Friday or Saturday it'll go thru the canal. I can watch after about 2 pm on Friday.
If you watch the lock cams well tracking her on the AIS map, you can see how many ships are ahead of her. Remember the AIS map will be one to two hours delayed, so factor that in to estimating when Boheme will be at a lock. Also if you time things correct, you can see her pass under the Centennial bridge, whcih is just before the Pedro Miguel lock. Once out of sight of the bridge cam it takes about 10 minutes before you can see here waiting to enter the Pedro Miguel locks. The cam at the Miraflores locks change directions for morning and afternoon.
I should be around and if the NAM sight is up, I'll offer some lock passage tips and help if anyone wants/needs it. Hang in there as the lock passage can be a long day if you track her from start to finish.
I haven't played with this yet - but how do you post a snapshot from the maps or webcam without them changing (being just a link to the site). I failed at this miserably yesterday
Yay for Tharkun!! Thank you so much!
We'd be lost without you...well, I would be anyway!
Is the AIS site the free one? Do you happen to have a link to the Panama Canal section of that? When I look on the free site, I can only see how to get the Europe parts. Obviously I have much to learn yet!
Thanks again!

If I totally missed your question I apologize!
Thank you, thank you - I think we'd all appreciate a guide through these part of the waters!!

Finding all of the AIS sights is a pain, the link below is for the canal. As with all AIS maps, just click in the dirction you want to go and the map will update. By clicking on this map you can trek all the way thru the canal.

You're welcome, minicounter!
Thanks for the link Tharkun! I *might* be getting the hang of navigating that site now. I'm gonna keep practicing. Hee!
Oh...and you're SO right. MAs need to have a pamphlet to give you at the time of order on tracking. *nods*

Thanks everyone for all the info! My dear hubby just put together a program to save an image from each camera every 2 minutes so he can make a movie. I'd still like to try to watch it go through the locks. Man, this is like so many other times in life where by the time you have a clue what you're doing it's over! I can post some pictures (not sure how many yet) to the net when the dust (or water) settles.

Yes and by the time you could help someone else - you've usually forgotten how
... But not Tharkun and we're glad he is keeping his skills alive. I can see a side business here... probably could sell it to the MA's to keep the obsessive people (which should be all buyers) from pestering them. I'm sure is would be a full-time job. Would probably guarantee a 5 rating and the full bonus for the MA's!!
AIS
Just a word of caution, seems since about 3am (PST) when the AISfree sight went down and cane back up, most of the maps are not updating, have not been checking the Panama once closely enough to say for sure. SOo watch it close and if no ship movement in over an hour or so, it may well be hung like the other maps.
I'll let other members post live pics, long story but because of security for the work machines, I have to download images on my machine, then transfer to the server. Then to a seperate secure directory, then back to my box to make a post. By that time someone here will have done it.
Well luck just ran out, now the Panama AIS is down along with the rest of the system. This has been an issue since 3am (PST) hopefully they get it resolved soon. This late in the day, Boheme should not have much of anything to see anyways.

. I'm sure Mr. Boheme has them under control by now...
