All Aboard the TAGUS! (Week 31) Leaving Southhampton 8/9/07
Not all...
My delivery is scheduled for Friday, 9/21 at 2:00Kimberly... is it Kermit?
Jarid is being great though - he is giving me a loaner car until I can pick mine up.
I think so. Still need to meet him/her to make sure. Hubby likes the name though. I was bummed that the vanity plate that I wanted was taken though (EZBNGRN) - have to come up with another.
My MA has found my postings! I feel as if I have been caught with my hand in a cookie jar.

I have my MINI! It sure seems like a Frodo. I absolutely love it! The first 2000 are going to be hard miles to stay on break-in.
I have PTO tonight, so pic will have to wait.
JanebOnd - the dealer will match the other tint and bra offer (except for the rear bumper strip)
Kimberely - I looked around for Kermit. I saw one that looked like him, but who knows. The color is beautiful.
Scoopmama - I can't wait to drive in circles.
Lil A - the wait will be worth it!!!
Tharkun - You have been a great guide through this process, thanks.

MINI2na - I love the name Frodo. Our favorite cat was named Frodo. Had a vary unique personality (as cats can have) and lived to a ripe old age...
Scoop's first play date. . .
Good Morning! I won't get any sympathy from anyone for getting home after 12 hours of MINI fun yesterday!
Wow! At the post office, parked by 2 MINI convertibles. Off to the dealer for the nice cloth floor mats (Thanks, Irvine MINI- FREE!!!!
)
Down the 5 to the 76 to Temecula and spent the day with my wonderful in-laws and their best friends who bought the 9th MINI sold in Santa Ana! Scoop met MINI TOI and learned a lot about handling. Right now she can only watch. Practice comes after the first 2K. God, that was hard, driving and keeping it under 70. These babies REALLY want to go FAST!!! I had no idea! Love it!!!
Our friend took me in HIS Cooper S around La Cresta. He's done all kinds of driving schools, and races a lot. So we were cornering at 65 MPH and I was just blown away by the potential this car has!
We had fun with her first photo shoot (nice to have a gorgeous background!) I'll post pics in the gallery tonight when I get home.
Took twisty Ortega Hwy on the way home. In the dark, the highbeams with the driving lights are like driving in the day, and the handling was superb!!
Scoop can't wait to see her Tagus friends' pictures and hear about all their fun adventures!!!!!!

Got the call!
Tomio for NW MINI just called to tell me that my MINI is due in today and it will be ready for me Tuesday morning when I get back from LA
The timing worked out perfectly. I am so stoked right now I can't deal with myself.

Hello Everyone...
I've been lurking on this post ever since it started. I ordered my MINI months ago and after what felt forever it finally arrived! Anyway, the OL showed that my MINI arrived at Irvine Mini last Saturday. After a couple games of phone tag, I finally picked my Sparkling Silver black top/stripes S up on Monday night. It was all very exciting. However, next day to work (Tuesday), on mile 40, going about 30 miles an hour... I get a nice little beep and 'engine malfunction' light. According to my manual the light meant to get the thing to service right away. Terrific, huh! They give me a worthless (to me at least) cheap BMW rental for the next 24 hours (like I really want that). So well after 24 hours, (on Wednesday) they call me and tell me that I can pick it up, and that someone in production just forgot to connect the vacuum line to the wastegate on the turbo. I guess that thing must have been building up tons of pressure or something. So Yesterday I finally had my car for 24 hours, and its the greatest thing ever. Its Friday now, and I'm starting to get concerned; hoping that there was no damage done to the Turbo. I'm thinking I may give service a call and ask about it since I don't really know much about Turbos and how that vaccuum could effect everything. Not exactly sure what the deal would be putting 60 miles on a car with no vacuum connected to the wastegate. Regardless to say, Irvine MINI hasn't been the most helpful in explaining to me what was wrong with my car or anything. They simply gave me a sheet of paper that explained that a hose was disconnected when they built it. Don't they check this stuff at VDC?!?
Great buzz kill huh! Anyways, barring any future incidents, the MINI is the greatest decision I have ever made. People who werent sure on the MINI before now see the color and believe that I made a pretty good choice. They definitely agree after riding in the thing! Anyways thought Id drop in and explain my story/escapade with the delivery of this thing. Hope you all have better luck and thanks for keeping me sane with all your posts and pictures, and may the MINI gods offer quick delivery to all of you and keep the CEL demons away!
Specs: Sparkling Silver S. Black top, stripes. Premium. Chrome Line Interior, Exterior. Hi-Fi Audio, Sport Suspension.

Here, on the Tagus forum... we're still in love, or still longing for them to arrive. Glad you made yourself known. Welcome to the Motoring World.

Who was your MA? Mine was Clint.
Mine was Clint too. He was helpful but I couldn't get anyone to really help me explain what was wrong with my car. It was kind of hard to get answers around there, and occasionally my calls weren't returned. Absolutely in love with the car though; hope it holds together!
Well Scoopmama, it sounds like you had tons of fun.
No, I won't get mine until Monday eve, but my MA (jaridp) gave me a loaner to drive around until then. It is so much fun. Mind you I was trying to get home through Portland Friday rush hour traffic, and still could not figure out how to change the radio to AM, but I had a ball driving. What a blast. I am looking forward to the time when my own MINI feels so comfortable and an extention of myself. Right now operating the loaner is so scary and alien. This is going to be a great adventure.

"Accidentally" missed my street tonight and had to drive a bit more up the hill
Have FUN with the loaner!! Because you'll probably baby your little Green Machine for a while!

But, I must remember it is someone else's car. The interior is very similar to what mine will be, so that is nice. My hubby was checking everything out last night. This is the first spark of excitement I have seen in him. He still isn't allowed to drive it for quite a while when I get mine. But, he is already thinking mods, (exasperated) Men! Well, at least the purse strings will be loose if I want something. Well gotta go to the grocery store now. I think I'll go to the one across town
- instead of the one down the street.
Belleview WA has a NICE gourmet market!!!
A husband of my hubby's co-worker called me last night. He has an old MC 02 that suffered a crash a few years ago, and hasn't driven well since. He wants to come for a ride in my new car, and probably order one. When he asked if that was ok, I said, " Let's see. . .fellow enthusiast, chance to rave, take a pointless drive through some nice canyon (Silverado and Trabuco) roads for about an hour. . . SURE!" Never met him or his wife before, but that's what MINIs are all about!
I tried to remind one of my co-workers that she was enthusiastic when she got her Passat. She gave me a rather strange look and said, "I didn't chat on computers and call strange people my FRIENDS!"
I realized that non-MINI people truly don't get it! Love her anyway!

I can't believe how busy school has been this week. The first full week of the year and it was filled with picking up Frodo, and meetings, meetings, meetings. Now that the weekend is here, my wife and I are going to pick up my (old) car at the dealership, then head up the Gorge on the WA side and around Mt. Hood. It is overcast today, but it should be great lighting for pictures I can post.
I have learned what torque steer is.
I am thrilled going around 90 degree neighborhood corners without applying the brakes.
I enjoy the look on my passengers face when I do it.
I'm sorry that not everyone is united with their babies yet.
I like that I have friends I've never met in person. I hope we can some day.
I just feel right with the world.
Enjoy your day. I'll be back later with pictures and an account of my first play date.
