If only I could make a bat'leth rack for the back of the MINI.

You could...until you got pulled over for speeding. Then you would have new problems.

Frodo and I are happy for you too! It has been a long journey and wait for you. Glad you are united at last. Kermit's color was my second choice. The interior is striking. You two will get lots of comments. ENJOY!

Mine is at the dealership for the night and then heading over for the tint/bra. I'm driving Larry's loaner tonight. It's a wonderful contrast to mine. I have noticed I get move looks in his yellow/black with stripes. BUT.... I'll be glad to get Frodo back.

Rasmussen MINI is currently slammed with pickups of cars. I'm lucky mine made it to me when I got it.

The wait is over!

I picked up my MINI this afternoon. Delivery went quite smoothly (there's one issue with the door sills not being quite glued on, which the dealer has stepped up to fix) but the car overall is PERFECT. I'm thrilled. Spent the rest of the day tooling around the Kitsap peninsula and Whidbey Island...200 miles on the car today and will probably head to Mt. Rainier tomorrow for lots more. Hopefully I can make a trip to Banff too before the weather turns too much.

Here are some quick stats:

Tentative Names: Zonker (as in "Screaming Yellow ...) or Spike (as in "Golden ...")
Mileage at delivery: 10
Mileage once it finally got home from the dealer: about 225
First Song: Phish -- Divided Sky (Studio)

I have a few crappy cell phone pics up at http://www.facebook.com/album.php?ai...4&id=696211579 but I attached one here for janeb0ond who wanted to see what the black roof looked like. I'll do a proper photo shoot as soon as I get a proper camera with which to do it.

This car is WAY too much fun -- 4500 and 90mph seemed generous when I picked it up, but I find it comes up quicker than I thought it would

Congrats, smaine! I LOVE the yellow/black! It will be one of the few rays of brightness from Oct-April up there! You'll make everyone smile

I'm really being good with break-in. . .it's soooo hard! Got the weirdest look from a MINI driver as I was slogging along in the slow lane with no near off-ramp (so absolutely NO excuse) going between 45-70, 45-70, over and over. I KNOW he was wondering what I got an S for if I'm going to drive like an old lady! I need a sign that says, "MINI Break-in period. Will hit max speed in ____ miles!" and fill in the count down!

Someone really wanted to race out of a red light the other day, and lil Scoop just gently eased off the brake and slowly got to 25 mph.

Oh well, I'll still be loving her and driving her 10 years from now!

Break in is fun, isn't it? After having driven an automatic for the last year and a half, Kermit is breaking me in as well. I made him backfire this morning, accidentally, after I stalled him. In my defense, I wasn't paying attention (i.e., rocking out to the Scorpions ) and reverted momentarily. Stupid, stupid, stupid. Less music, more motoring. Someday soon, I hope to be able to do both at the same time. Baby steps.

smaine - I love the name Zonker. I'm driving a loaner today that resembles yours and it screams ZONKER! Congrats.

Lil A - It's about time! Looking forward to the pickup and initial pics.

Scoopmama - varying the speed is what they told me too, but what a strange way to drive. I do lane changes to match the speed I'm going, but I hate to be erratic. I can't wait for the time when the "gloves are off".

Talk about stupid stupid.... I'm driving a loaner automatic and pushed my foot to the floor on a nonexistent clutch pedal. DUH! My wife drives and auto, but have not owned one in over 20 years.

Car looks great, smaine!
Zonker is a perfect name!!!

Scoop finally got all her extra goodies I was thrilled! Hubby noticed, after I got home, that there is a weird drip that we hope comes off the paint, and a tiny chip in the gasket they installed around the gas cap. Hmmm. And because I didn't check the dealer work with a fine tooth comb, they could say it happened after I left and there's no way to fix it. Well, I'm still thrilled with Scoop, but feel badly about not having that eye for detail my hubby has. We'll see what happens. The dealership has been really good with the whole pick up and delivery process so far!

400+ on and a few to go before high revs and fun on the roads!

What were the extra goodies that you got? Aside from the chrome gas cap?

I love my tint. I did not go with the darkest (illegal), but combined with the slight tint from the factory... they look great. The mask (the word bra is no longer "correct") looks like it will protect my front end. I can barely see it on the paint, but it did give a glossiness to the stripes. I hope that a coat of wax this weekend will lessen the difference.

I love this car. Frodo is the BEST I've ever had.

I would love to see pics of tint. I am still contemplating this. How much did they charge you?

Introducing....

Picked up my Mini last night!!!! Tharkun was right. (Again) I decided to wait to see him/her before I came up with the name. It came to me during the "unveiling." So I am very proud to introduce to you...

Zorro!

Yes...there will definitely be more pics to follow. Going out motoring this weekend and will take a bunch. Trying to stay under 4500 RPM's during break-in is SO HARD But still having fun. The nav system is so awesome and fun to play with. I'll be reading the manual from cover to cover this weekend. Need to figure out how to program door locks, work nav, etc etc... Will definitely have fun doing it thought Yeah to all of us!!!! We got our babies!!!

I'll get pics this weekend. The lighter tint Frodo got darkens the look from the outside. For my car, it sets off the car's black top and mirrors. People can still see in (hence a legal tint in WA). When you are inside the car, I don't notice it being extremely dark. Muted maybe. I had the darker tint on my last car and it did make it difficult for anyone to see in and while inside, it was like wearing sunglasses. It will be a matter of taste, but I like the combo I picked out.

I ended up getting what I think is a deal from the dealership. $750 for the mask and tint. I think at most shops you can get tint for under $200.

I picked up my MINI today!

I have to say it was love at first site. Any doubt I had about the color combination fell away when I laid eyes on this baby.

I haven't been able to drive it much, unfortunately I'm stuck working, but I'm going to take a road trip tomorrow. I can already tell it is going to be very difficult to keep this baby at the speed limit.

I'm not one to name a car, but here are some pictures. The color is Nightfire Red.

Wow! Everyone's cars look awesome!
LilA- Zorro is a great looking car! So it turns out she was really a he all along. . .!

Dewayneg-I'm betting your car has a name before Monday!! (I've never named a car before either)

Hey! Poll time! Who HAS named a non-MINI car you've owned? Not me!

Goodies for Scoop. . .Chrome bonnet scoop, chrome trim line around bottom front/rear grills, chrome rear hatch strip, and mudflaps! PRETTY!!!

I'll claybar the streaks this weekend and see what happens. It should come out. That and a dab of factory paint on the gasket should perk her right up!

I have never been one to name a car, but.... I own a MINI now.
Is that the MINI rack and upright bike carrier? Do you feel the bike is secure? I've always had fork mount attachements, but now that I have disk brakes it is a pain to have to reset the pads sometimes when you take the wheel on and off (and heaven forbid if you apply the brakes without the disk between the pads)
Enjoy your baby. Take it easy for these first miles. I have 500+ now. 25+% of the way!!!
