Kimberley had it right - Galadriel
The other is Arwen.

Ok, enough of the Ring characters. Any more names in play? (I do like Cooper, or Coop.)

OK that one was easy. All the fish in our tank are named after LOTR characters - Gimli (the oscar and the biggest - kind of ironic), Strider, Frodo, Smeagles (the sucker fish), Samwise(who we think is female), and Galadriel. We had a Gandolf, but he died. We even had Ungoliant (Shelob's (the spider)Mom) - he was an mini lobster, but Gimli ate him. He do have a ring in the tank. Ok, so I am babbling. Antsy!!!!

Couple of the cars and all of the puters and servers, printers, our domain, are all named after LOTR as well.

Hey there all... thank you for your efforts at trying to help name my Mini.

As you can see it's 3:50 in the morning and I can't sleep! :impatient I woke up at 3:00 and couldn't sleep cuz I am so mad at the dealer right now. I got an email from my MA who told me what they would give me for my trade-in. They TOTALLY LOW-BALLED me. $3000.00 BELOW true market value (according to Edmunds.com). I hate car dealers! AARRGGHHH. So...anybody know anyone who wants to buy a Mustang GT Convertible??? I'm going to have to try to sell it to a private party now in order to pay for my Mini. I just finished typing my MA an email asking him to try for more $ but I'm not holding my breath. (kinda hard to hold breath and vent at same time)

I'm going to try to go back to sleep now... talk to y'all later...

Looks like I'm the next one up this morning. Sleepless in the North West. LilA, I'm glad the sale of my old car is past me. I loved my '91 Stealth and was happy to find a 19 year old who would love it too. I was able to drive it for over 3 years and sell it for only $2000 less than I paid. Not sure that even the MINI can match that depreciation.
4 hours until the dealership opens this morning.
I think I'll continue to read the last Harry Potter book. The kids at school are dying to tell me the end. If I don't get it done this weekend, one of them will slip.

Did he give you the standard line that they do not want the car on the lot and will just wholesale it out and not make any profit on it ?

They did that to me as well. My car is worth 18K+ they offered me 14 1/2. I sold it privately for 16K. I wanted to give my friend a good deal. I knew about the trade in offer in the first week though. It gave me time to maneuver.

MINI2NA - you still haven't read the last HP? I finished it 2 days after it came out. Great book!!!!

Good morning all, I see that we are all up bright and early this fine Saturday morn.

Morning Kimberely, I'm up early giving Skeeter his bath before the sun hits the driveway.

No clear bra for me. I married a car painter (he paints at Leif's) so if I need any touch ups I know who to ask.

As for golf - I shall endeavor to perform better than last week.

Besides his painting skills, does he have opinions about clear bras? I had one on the stealth and in the two years it was on, I loved it. Before that, I had the ugly dark "bug deflectors" on the front of my truck. I don't like hood (or any other) rock chips.

He says they are good ideas, but after a few years you can tell that they are there. He said you should still get one.

Yes, our clear bra yellowed considerably after about 3 years (very noticible on a PW MINI). They need to be waxed on a regular basis and kept out of the direct sun as much as possible if you want them to last many years. However, it is amazing what they do to protect the front end of the MINI. I can't imagine what our car's front end would look like without the clear bra as the bra itself is quite battered now (after three years of use).

We recently took the bra off (due to the stripes being totally trashed - see my comments below) and the paint underneath it was in perfect condition. No discoloration or anything like that. I highly recommend them on the MINI.

EDIT: FYI, what didn't last well were the OEM stripes. Even with regular waxing, they become horrible looking after just a couple of years (out in the CA sun). Even though I love the look of the stripes on the MINI, we've opted not to have them installed on our new R56 just because they don't fair well at all. I think it would be much better to spend the extra cash and have a body shop paint them on instead of using the stick on versions if you really want the stripes.

I have learned to trust him so much!
Thanks for asking. Now I'm not sure who to root for in today's round. A tie maybe.

Yawn. . . Good Morning all! Was up until about 1:00 doing some work, thinking of Scoop. Emailed my MA yesterday. Nothing. No reponse. He was going to call me, but he ALWAYS says that! His mother should have taught him better manners!!!!

Can't believe how exhausted I am after the first three days of being back at school. I know I'll adjust over the next week and go back to being perky, but right now - ugh. And you're all these cheery morning people! Guess I won't hold it against you, though.

Had my first cockpit MINI dream this morning. Driving in the morning on an empty road in old town Orange (that would happen ONLY in a dream!!) and passes the traffic circle where nothing but MINIs were parked! Then my darling little 7-yr-old son, the precious love of my life, woke me up!!! And this IS the face he got!

Mini2Na~ Did you finish Harry Potter????? If you haven't, go now and read!
Also, ARE you getting your baby today?? I think Fugitive is CA is! What's up with that? I'm thrilled for you but puzzled. I want my car too!!!

Kimberely~ When you finish beating your hubby in golf today ( ), ask him about the clear bra for a pepper white. If it's going to show in a few years, is it easy to remove without damaging the paint, and is there color change where the bra was? I'm planning on keeping Scoop for as long as she keeps driving (I still have my 96 and 98 Saturns. 96 has 240K miles and still going strong after some spa days at the mechanics! So I'm thinking REALLY long term with Scoop! We always touch up the little rock chips with dealer paint so it would be nice to get Mr. Kimberely's advice!

Lil A~ my husband used to sell Saturns (back when they were a great car!) and you really don't want to go with the dealer unless it's your only resort. Especially the dealers that you aren't dealing with. The straight MSRP ones. The only way they really bump up the profit is on the financing packages, the extra dealer options and "Luxury Prep" options like the $1000. Spray with Scotch guard one! The other way is on your trade in!!!! Try anything else first! Private or the Mustang boards is probably your best bet!

To use the gallery, do we need to have a photo account like Yahoo or Flickr, or is the gallery set up like that? So far my picture posting attempts have really been disastrous!

Have a great day, Futigive! I'm jealous!!

Scoopmama: I hope to know more when the dealership opens in an hour. Chapter 15 right now. The first week of school is ALWAYS brutal for us as well as the kids. I feel pretty good this weekend, but I've been back preparing for almost a month.

OMG OMG OMG!!!!! Just got 2 emails from my MA!

Earlier email: Car should be in M-W sometime and ready by next weekend! Cool!

Newer email: CAR JUST CAME IN TODAY AND IS ON THE LOT AND I CAN SIGN THE PAPERWORK TOMORROW AND THEY WILL INSTALL ALL MY OPTIONS AND I CAN HAVE HER!!!!!!!!

I was on the phone with my husband, and nearly deafened him and thoroughly P-O'd my "cool" 13-year-old who turned around and said, "Mom, you hurt my ears." What a lump! Did I actually give birth to him????? Typical 8th grader (I LOVE my sweet 7th graders! LOL!). . .

I am SOOOO excited!!

May all our MINIs be safely parked in their driveways, garages, etc by this next weekend!
Woo-hoo! (I won't say "WOOT" because I still have NO clue what it means! Enlightenment, anyone?)

LilA - I'm going to look in the Ring Trilogy to find the name of the female elf character. It starts with G and if I try to spell it right now I'll mess it up, but Cooper or Coop for short sounds good. In fact Coop and Scoop are a good pair!
JanebOnd - Do you have things being added at the dealer?
Tharkun - Thanks as usual for your support and guidance.
Dewayneg - welcome to our craziness, or have you been there all along?

I'm just trying not to get my hopes up for tomorrow, but...... IT'S NOT WORKING
I do not have anything additional being added at the dealer, besides mats and fuel. I am doing as much clearshield and tint as I can but that is scheduled for the 24th--will bump the date up as soon as I receive Mr. Mojo

I GOT MY CALL
It sounds like they got a load of them on Friday. None of them got prepped before the weekend, so that process will begin Monday.
I am scheduled to for Thurday PM. They like to begin the process before 4P.

Mini~ That is so awesome!!!!
Probably good we didn't know yesterday~ I could not have maintained my strict and professional persona!!!! Could you?
So, does your dealer install everything before or after paperwork is signed? Mine waits to do the work after I've signed everything, which makes sense!

Lil A ~ How about "Alana?"

Kind of the yin-yang, alter-ego thing?
