We've had our Mini for 30 days now, and 1600 miles later we still can't stop smiling! We drove over the hill to Sacramento on April 28 for a test drive (also tried a Z350)....the next day spent hours online trying different builds...on Monday sent our build sheet to the dealer! After 5 weeks of checking in the "owners lounge" we took delivery. Apparently you can now longer get them in 5 weeks, or for the MSRP for that matter....our experience and deal couldn't have been better.
The initial drive back to Carson City was incredible....no traffic over HWY 50 to Tahoe....35MPH caution signs meant 75 to the Mini!
Last Saturday we took a drive that is hard to imagine unless you've been on these roads. Markleville to Murphy's CA over HWY 4. This is Ebbetts Pass and has some of the narrowest and nastiest turns you will find anywhere. You actually need 1st gear for a couple of switchbacks on steep grades. Coming back we took Sonora Pass over HWY 108 for more of the same fun. They're both closed about 6 months out the year due to deep snow pack and no way to plow these passes without a death wish of some kind.
We are very much looking forward to getting to know the local Sierra Nevada Mini Club memebers and those of this community.

I have been corrected...our Mini took 7 weeks from the order date of April 14 to received it. Still pretty good considering that it was a west coast destination.

When I drove a Semi years ago I made many a trip over Donner, summer and winter. Some were ho-hum, some scary as hell!!

Carson, eh? Just may run into you sometime. My wife is from Carson/Reno, and we have friends down there, as well as her mom up in Reno. I'm still working on her to take road trip down there in the MINI, as we have usually flown. With a 6 year old and a 6 month old, it may not happen, but I still hold out hope.

Apparently my MiL has a friend that just picked up a used silver MC a couple months ago. I'll have to find out more info on that one.
