2013 mini gp
Today's announcement from MINI USA:
Breaking News: North America will be the only market in the world to have numbered 2013 MINI John Cooper Works GPs. After Todd and Debbie Jeffrey petitioned the Chief Motorer himself with a “Save the Numbers” campaign, we petitioned the mighty international powers of MINI to have numbers for the U.S. market. The vehicles in the U.S. market will be numbered from 0001 to 0500.
I have launched a rocket up MINI over this. I have been arguing for Build Numbers for the Mini Goodwood and I was told by Kay Segler that MINI would not be issuing build numbers for any special editions.
This move by MINI USA has just added ammo to my fight. I have also let some Australian buyers know as well.

Got to spend some time in the flesh with the new GP today...overall I kinda like it, more than I did when I first saw it at the LA Auto Show. The tires, suspension, brakes, and Recaro's really make the car worth it.
Oh and the suspension is direct from Bilstein, as evident below

Car is at Crevier MINI for today only if anyone in the area wants to check it out
....no test drives though and vehicle is not for sale.

Nice! Enjoy an amazing MINI. Post up some pics when you get it. Congrats in advance.
Congratulations on your GP. Nice that you already know your car's number. I was given our GP's vin# on Feb 8th but nothing about the roof number, which is no big deal.
Did your MA tell you that it was on its way to NC or did you find out some other way? I was told that ours arrived in NJ on/about Feb 8th, but that we would not be able to take delivery until the end of this month or on/about March 5. did you get this info too?
Thanks and congrats again!

March 5th /6th is the day Mini is allowed to actually sell them.
They changed the delivery date of the GP from Mar 5 to April 5th...there is a delay in getting the roof numbers.
Gp
They are still at the ports, let's say they do 10 GPs a day...that's 25 days if each port has 250 GPs.
They also have all the other MINIs coming into the port.
MINI USA sure has GREAT communication.

BALLLLSSSSSSSS
I was expecting a car in about a week.... I'm in the same boat as being without a car. Wife crashed our 2nd car and took mine to use to get to work every day. I was pushing off fixing the crashed car because I expected to get the GP in about a week! BALLLLSSSSS
Also, I understand the USA version does NOT have redundant steering wheel controls....
Get your sh*t together Mini

I too think it's BS about these stupid numbers. I said I'll opt out on the number and take my car now.
I know some previous GP owners really wanted the numbers and started a petition for them. Hows that working for them now.
I'll sign anyone's new petition or group to not have them.

Here's an Suggestion for MiniUSA
How's this for a Win-Win proposal?
Why not have the GP's shipped to the dealers with the number decals in a neat little official Mini USA envelope and let the new GP owner decide whether to apply them or not. The cars get delivered NOW, and those who would rather not have the numbers (me included), can file the decals for the next owner.
Most Mini dealerships have expertise, either under contract or on hands to apply the 3M film protection - I'm sure for those who want the numbers that they could ask the dealerships to apply them.
If you are reading this MiniUSA, please consider this sensible optional approach.
Thanks
