i'd be interested to hear if any current or past r53 GP owners are toying with idea of getting one?

i like that word, soul.

i used to work in the bike industry, and that word is used a lot to describe all the intangibles and un-measurables that make up that n'th degree of cool factor. usually reserved for hand made, super high craftsmanship pieces.

i can't get away from that with the r53 GP. i have never driven one or been in one for that matter, but the whole thing just oozes soul.

i do hope rectify that issue soon though.

I hope the seats will be better than the 2006 GP(USA) seats that is the only fault that I had with it. Our engineers are working on this project but even they are not saying much about it.

New GP is here! The windows are blackened out, so no interior details other than it will have the Recaros. IMHO, the car is BA! I would ditch the side graphics though.

I agree with Jim, the original 06 GP needs the Euro spec seats for sure. I will own one of these as soon as I pay off the 06 GP I just bought a few weeks back! I certainly do want one, just not for $40k. There will only be, though, one original GP! One thing that bothers me on the new one is the body kit, although slightly modified, is not really "unique" like toe original GP. And I like my wheels better to.....

HAHA NOW NOW !! I actually sat in a GP in the UK and the seats were a lot better. If I would have kept the GP would have had the UK seats.

Looks like a glorified JCW they should get rid of the chrome and put carbon fiber all around it

Just like 2006 the dealers had a list. I called my dealer today and became THIRD on the list.

In 2006 I was 12th and was lucky enough to get the 4th one my dealer received for their allocation. It was an awesome car.....I sold it last June and think this may cure my missing it.

glorified JCW it is. They didn't change the aero kit much (to my disappointment). They probably just beefed up the internals of the N18 and gave it a larger intercooler and an overboost feature similar to the 1M.

I have to admit, the color is more like the Grigo Telesto and I really dig that color. Good move BMW.

I like it, but there are some details i think it's a too desperate call for attention, the first GP was more subtle.

Anyway, i was bored and did this (not a great job but...works to get an idea):

I love the first option, side graphics look cool IMO but the clown nose is what bothers me most. If i do get one(fingers crossed) i'll leave it like that(side graphics only), i don't care about losing value as i plan on keeping it for good.

GP2 options

I have my deposit down on it as of this weekend. My only disappointment is that they aren't allowing any order options. MINI's site prides itself on over 10 million options, but I can't get ONE factory option with this car. They could make more money from me by letting me order NAV, HK sound and Cold Weather but it looks like it won't come with any of these options. Don't get me wrong, I love the car and all the performance options but I hate having to choose between modern amenities like the awesome MINI Connected NAV system and the highest performance engine. I'm sure I'll adjust but I think it's short-sighted to assume all GP owners won't care that they can't order what they want after already paying a premium for a limited-edition car.

Can't wait to see one up close and get all the specs on the interior.

So your dealer already has pricing information and the order sheet? Otherwise I'm not entirely sure how they could say there will be no options aside from assuming that will be the case based on the prior GP.
